  1. I have a set of these... IMO-- the mid woofers are decent. I cannot compare them to any high-$ brand as this is the most expensive set that I actually own.. I paid roughly 500 for them when they came out. The mid is very detailed compared to anything else that I have used (concept, kicker, Next, orion) but as I said none of the others were great either. the tweeter is too shrill for my liking, almost have to bi-amp this set for my taste (I don't like a ton of high) You really need to listen to them to form your own opinion.
  2. Everybody seems to say that about the MT's...
  3. numbers are low for that truck--either way... I'm comparing apples to apples... we have the exact same truck, i have 2-15's and 1760 clamped watts, he has 2-18's and ?? watts, you should test the power output on the amps to see what he's getting/what impedence rise your dealing with, something is wrong somewhere... with 2x the power you will see a gain if the electrical can handle it..*my box is tuned to 24hz so don't go there either **I mean that in good humor
  4. Blame your box, your score should be much higher for what you have. I'd surely rebuild before spending another dollar. x2 You need to redesign that thing.. apparently it doesn't do the trick.. wood's cheaper than anything else you'll change..
  5. doors open in single or extended cab trucks almost always renders a higher spl. My truck is set up to be burped with the door open--MECA. I actually don't know what it does on the dash sealed-- I'll have to test when I get back from out west. I thought your style of comp allowed the windows to be down? ***when you're testing to find your freq, make sure your testing full tilt on little burps. at low volume my truck has two or three different peaks, with it turned up in peaks much higher in on spot than the others (impedence rise---I get more power at a certain freq---I've tested it )
  6. all you need is resin, resin hardener (normally comes with the resin), it's just a two part process... if your going to use mat then of course you'll need that too. IMO. resin by itself is fairly usless... it'll make it nice and smooth if you pool the resin, I personally don't resin a box just to resin it (other than the port "flange" so it can be painted more easily-I feel it's a waste of time and money just to add resin to smooth it out.. I Use fiberglass mat on the seams (the thick chop mat) for added strength.
  7. also is this with both 18's, both 1000d's and at what ohm.. have you tested power output at the peak frequency... could be having some issues with impedence rise. I'm suprised that it metered that low... slight box mods aren't going to lead to the 10db that you're missing... you should be doing 50+ with that equipment. My 2-15's are on 1700watts to do the 150.5 @ 31hz I can run a single 1500watt amp and still do 150.1db you've gotta have an issue somewhere... you should be able to crush my measly score..
  8. legal... as in sealed cabin. mic on the dash? 12"over 3" up? termlab?
  9. too bad they're not strappable...
  10. the meca event list can be found here http://www.mecacaraudio.com/eventtable.aspx
  11. well your LPF should be set much higher than 35.... I don't know of any decks that have a 35hz lpf though... should be set around 60-80hz or whatever blends with the frontstage..
  12. what amp are you running? got pics? is it a slot port?
  13. I have that exact headunit... sitting in it's box after one day of use. JVC is a good brand. the CD player is OK. The good of that deck: Sounds good simple to use the preset eq sounds decent--better than the flat setting SD card slot and USB slot are super nice (I like to leave the SD in and I'll put new music on the flash drive) CD player didn't skip even at 150+db, it still played just fine when I was burping 20hz at 146ish range.. this deck should be skip free. the bad: NO play or Pause button--only (i needed this feature to use it for SPL comps) you can only pause an ipod... nothing else No EQ adjustments, you either use the preset EQ or it's flat a good deck for the normal user... not for someone who competes. I wish I could give you more input... I didn't have it in long enough to really use it.
  14. hmmmmmmm..... I need to replace the DMX's with something that has a better low frequency responce--the dmx's sound OK for daily (in the 24hz box) but they're very peaky at 60hz--their f/s is way up there. I need a woofer that can get down in the 30hz range without any issues--the DMX's have been doing fine but they just don't seem to take the power at that low frequency--mechanical issues--could be the box--either way after 1760watts I see no gain in spl--it feels louder but isn't on the mic... could also be that the truck is just giving up... who knows.... ***the win ISD doens't like those t/s parameters btw... it says they're incorrect/inconsistant (or something like that) the woofer shows up being lik a million ohms when I input the t/s driectly.
  15. Well this whole install is on hold for the next 2-3 weeks. I'm finally heading to vegas and LA for my little vacation/job/home search I'll get back on this when I get home... I don't think I'll be able to be back for KY finals so I'll have to shoot for the TN state finals on the 20th ***I still don't have enough points for world finals
  16. ahh... the Z's.... they probably fit my needs almost exactly... they just don't take quite the amount of power... I need them to take about 2-3k each on a burp... only 750 ea for daily...
  17. Ahh... well they know now the way he talked about it I thought he was the main distributor of that product...
  18. His name is "George Takis" everything he's selling is high-dollar or hard to come by.. none of his photos are consistant in quality meaning they're all probably taken from someone else. what's "PAP"?
  19. here's an e-mail that I just got from him---all cursing has been removed "FYI YOU A-WIPE WHO I DON'T EVEN KNOW OR BUY YOUR S.. THESE WERE BOUGHT FROM A DEALER IN CANADA B!! HERE YOU JERK-OFF B. YOU STARTED A WAR NOW IT'S ON MOTHER F!!!" then there were several un-postable pictures that he attached.... Now he's fighting a different fight.... I really don't know why he's worried that he didn't buy them from me... that wasn't even an issue... All I said to him is that I since he's trying to run his own business he should provide his OWN pictures and Testing results
  20. I dont have "rights" to them so they are open for public use. Ebay is the only place that I can have him booted from. just annoying that he claims that they're his own and the test results were his own... people.... I"m not upset about it I just think it's a little out of line, that's all
  21. So I was browsing the other day and found my Massive P3000.1 photos on another website. http://www.wmd-subwoofers.com/amps4sale.htm I contacted him and questioned about the photos/amps. he said he took them in his home several years back. He also provided me with my own power test. Said that he had conducted a power test on them and these were his result. apparently he visits this forum---it's the only place that the information is posted, the pictures were on Ebay but the power test were on here only. Not that it's some huge deal.... but if you're gonna run your own website... whynot do your own test and take your own photos? *I failed to mention that he acted like a 13yr old boy when I said they were my numbers/photos... he told me to f off and i could kiss his @$$... good luck to anyone who buys from him
  22. Is that a MECA headrest score or???? I noticed that the door was open so figured I'd ask... 53hz?
