  1. It seems like 9 of the last 10 movies I watched sucked pretty bad. Badly enough I didn't even ascribe their titles to memory....though they were mostly recent releases.
  2. That's because the title of the movie is Worst Movie You've Ever Seen. You're the only fairy here who has seen the movie. Since I have a penis, when my wife and daughter watch it I go do something else....

From the pictures they appear to be aimed fairly off axis to the listeners, which is not uncommon as this allows the listening axis of both seats to be closer to equally off axis to both speakers which in turn helps the frequency response have less deviation between the L & R speakers at the listening position. If you look at pictures of some of the big name competitors, their mids are hardly ever aimed at the listener. They are usually aimed far off axis, many times aimed straight across the vehicle at each other. Vertical (height) ques generally begin to occur when the wavelength of the soundwave is equal to the height of your ear. Generally this will be in the 3khz - 4khz range......But if ya got big honkin' ears you may start to recognize height ques at a much lower frequency The potential problem with separating the mid from the tweeter by a great distance (a distance greater than the wavelength of the crossover frequency) is coherence and frequency response at and near the crossover point. It can be overcome, but something that needs considered. In midbass frequencies the wavelength of the sound wave is typically longer than the diameter of the cone (for the speaker sizes we typically use in car audio) so the on- and off-axis response of the driver is not going to deviate from each other. But as frequency increases and the wavelength becomes smaller than the diameter of the cone (as may happen in the midrange frequencies) the soundwaves generated by the cone will begin to destructively interfere with each other and the off-axis begin to roll off and deviate from the on axis response. Think of the speaker as an array of tiny point sources. When the wavelength of the soundwave is less than the distance between the sources, they can destructively interfere. Where this problem occurs for a driver playing midrange depends on the diameter of the driver. The effect is referred to as "beaming". This is one of the reasons I mentioned above that many competitors intentionally aim speakers off axis to both listeners. If you aim a speaker on axis to one listener, it will inherently be off axis to the other listener. Since in the midrange frequencies beaming usually begins to occur, the on and off axis response is going be different. One thing you generally want in a good stereo setup is for the frequency response at the listening position to be the same from both the left and right speakers. And if you want a stereo to sound equally as good from both the driver and passenger seats, then the frequency response at both seats also needs to be the same. So if you aim the speakers on axis to the driver, the passenger will be off axis and hence the frequency response will likely be different. If you aim the speakers at some arbitrary point between the two seats, then you will be more off axis to the near side speaker than you will be the opposing speaker which will create a difference in frequency response between the left and right speakers. But if you aim them close to equally off axis to both listeners, then the response at both listening positions and from both speakers will be closer to the same. Some competitors start by aiming the speakers either at the opposing speaker or at the back of the headunit, then make their adjustments from there. I tried to help.   6. If you do not need everything the SAZ has to offer (higher voltage, higher output, strappable, etc) over the SAE then yes, the SAE would be a more affordable yet satisfactory option.

  8. Heh....the ID guys also had some kooky thoughts about amplifiers. If ECA wasn't deceased I'd try to find the threads where ID was, for example, telling people that using a class D amp on their IDMax subwoofers would damage the subs......

  10. o my bad, what are you looking for? like if it doesnt take expensive equipment i would be more than happy to do it for you 2marrow. You wouldn't be able to do it in your driveway For starters, a distortion measurement would be helpful.
  11. go from a lower quality amp to a higher quality amp and its almost a guarentee that ur going to hear some kind of a difference. Meh, possible but unlikely. More likely it's a difference in power or some system setting. im sure its a difference in power, bc i havnt fine tuned the sundown yet, but i set the gain to where it sounded the best and left the ssf and hpf where it was...but on the hifonics i spent a decent amount of time setting it to where it sounded best, and imo the sundown sounds quite a bit better than the hifonics as it is now, ill set the sundown up 2marrow and im guessing it will sound even better. to me tho the sundown just sounds cleaner. So you admit that it really has nothing to do with hearing a difference between the amplifiers

  15. I think you may be confusing a couple different things. The T/S parameter BL alone tells you nothing about Xmax. You can obtain Xmag (linear excursion allowed by the motor) from a BL vs X plot, which is a graph displaying the value of BL in relation to excursion where Xmag is defined as the point where the BL falls to 70.7% of it's rest value. This is a graph of BL vs X generated by a Klippel analyzer; http://diymobileaudi...er%20prs/bl.JPG Xmax is generally accepted to be the lesser of Xmag and Xsus (linear excursion allowed by the suspension). I will also say there are several methods for determining Xmax, all of them may give slightly different results. So knowing what method the company uses for arriving at their Xmax can be important before trying to compare the Xmax values for two different drivers.

  20. I told you exactly what product you need to look for in my 2nd paragraph. What more do you want? yes i know, a 1/3 octave that starts at 20 hz, but what brand, i now know what type, but now what is a good brand. not trying to be a menace or anything, just trying to do it right. its like telling some one they need an amplifier that does 1000wrms at 2 ohms, does that mean every amp out there will work for them? no. who knows i might chose the worst one... i dont want that to happen. sorry if you consider this spoon feeding, but it will help alot! thanks, Anton Miller Because I spend 30+ minutes going to half a dozen or more online sites to find affordable, reputable products for the best prices for the requester only for them to find a reason not to chose any of them.....which means I just wasted 30+ minutes for nothing. You can do the legwork. Find some EQ's within your budget that offer the features that you need, toss the links up here and we can help you separate the junk from the decent products out of what you selected.
