US Acoustics has always been a pretty solid budget brand. IMO they are worth what he is selling them for. I've never dealt with audioclinic but I know he's been around forever and don't ever recall hearing anything bad about the amps or the transactions.

This is one of those shit happens situations. Fi can't control Fedex. But it'll get fixed, don't worry about that. You shouldn't end up having to pay anything. If you need to send it back to Fi I believe they email you a shipping label to use. Relax and wait for a response from Fi.

So, I should be getting that Ipad mini from work. I know they pass digital out via the lightning connector. What I want to do is pull that digital signal and convert it to a digital coax since my HU has digital coax input. I know about the Pure i20 dock which includes digital coax out, problem is I would really like to not spend $100 + the cost of a power supply + have to figure out where to mount and secure the docking station just for a digital signal. I want to run digital so I don't have to deal with the low preamp voltage and HU doesn't have analog input I don't believe (would have to check again), I don't want to run an extra input to the MS8 or switch inputs via the MS8. I want to keep the control at the HU and figure if I can do it digital, why the hell not? What I would really like is something more simple and/or less expensive than the Pure i20. Anybody have an idea of my options?

Major build quality difference for this amplifier comparison. That's fine, and I would also agree. I wasn't comparing the amplifiers themselves. So it's completely irrelevant to my comment. Hence the reason I specifically narrowed my quote down to only the sentence regarding no mono amp being "SQ", whateverinthefuck that even means. I would have eliminated everything of the sentence I quoted so the quote box only showed the "no mono amp is" statement, but I always fuck up the quote boxes when I try take out the first sentence ever since the latest forum update.....so I just left the entire sentence. They are not, but they are becoming increasingly more common and there are probably a couple dozen full range class D's on the market. But then again, my comment had absolutely nothing to do with amplifier class and a mono amp is not inherently class D. It had to do with single channel mono amps not being "SQ". A mono amp by definition is a single channel, but not necessarily class D (though I wouldn't exclude the full range class D's for this discussion, nor the bandwidth limited class D amps when used within their intended bandwidth). Mono amps can be class A, class A/B, class GH, etc in addition to class D. Again, completely irrelevant to my comment. I was specifically commenting on the "no mono amp is SQ" statement. Though being a class D mono channel amplifier designed and intended for subwoofer only duty again does not inherently make an amplifier "non-SQ". Matter of fact I'm not sure what makes the Soundqubed amplifier "non-SQ" when used within it's intended purpose. Is the frequency response not flat over the intended bandwidth? Is the distortion beyond audible limits? Is the noise within audible limits? It was a singular example, useful primarily because of Scott's competition record with that particular vehicle, his prominent competition history and his ownership of a brand which markets itself solely as an "SQ" oriented business. If mono amps are not "SQ", then someone such as Scott Buwalda would not have chosen to exclusively run mono amps (a half-dozen of them, no less) in his competition vehicle designed to demonstrate the "SQ" of his own products. That said, it's certainly not the only example of an mono amp being used in an "SQ" capacity. And we aren't talking about creating an entire system comparable to Scott's G35, simply whether or not a mono amp (not just Soundqubed, but any mono amp) is to be considered "SQ". There's no reason we can't compare that particular aspect. Absolutely no doubt he has hundreds if not thousands of hours into the vehicle. However that has nothing to do with anything relevant to the conversation.

Probably quite a few people that'd be willing to pay good money for the same analysis on their own vehicles for competition purposes. Time to start another side business Sean

Pretty sure Buwalda's competition G35 is using a half-dozen JL Audio HD750/1 to power the entire system

I bet they have a lot of acoustic information on the vehicles that would be extremely helpful to designing an aftermarket audio system to go in the car. Someone needs to hack their database

Also keep in mind while a lower number is technically better from a measurement standpoint, it does not mean you will actually hear a difference. Most amps are rated at 1%, but assuming the same measurement method is used having a lower rated THD won't sound any better. Also THD is just the distortion at rated power, the amp will produce more distortion at higher power levels.

Those specs on the Earthquake are complete and total bullshit. Absolutely zero possibility the Xmax is 90mm peak to peak. It's a lie, plain and simple. It might have an Xmech of 3.5" peak to peak. But that is most definitively not it's Xmax.

Peak output probably not, but the ported would end up having a stronger bottom end.
