  1. Don't know but the owner of Skar is a jackass so I wouldn't recommend sending your business there. Those Alpine Type-R 8's are supposed to be pretty stout little drivers. Audible Customs already told you the port area for that tuning in a .6cuft enclosure....202 inches
  2. Exactly people see that my status says "newbie" well im not i just dont use this forum much. But its cool i got a MB Quart 2k. Ive never blown a woofer. Ill be fine on that amp. Im not stupid. So yeah i think ill be just fine with my 2k and active set up. Oh what a "newb" is going active? Oh how did he know what that was? Ha ha anyway. Thanks SPL MAN. At least you understood what the question was. Didnt need to hear from people who dont own Lethal Injections but thanks for chiming in. It has nothing to do with the user status, everything to do with the nature of the question asked. You were given an accurate answer to the question you asked, just because it wasn't the answer you wanted doesn't make the answer wrong. It sounds like you were planning on running a certain level of power on the anyways, given your advanced knowledge and expertise......more power to you, no pun intended. Though you aren't going to hear a difference between 600w per driver and 900w per driver, so I'm not sure of the point. Unless you are chasing numbers on a meter there's no reason to run more power. And since you are so experienced & knowledgeable already you should have already understand how to properly set the system to not overdrive the speakers with a more powerful amplifier, so getting a specific answer giving a numerical power range shouldn't have been necessary for someone such as yourself. Running active has absolutely no correlation to someone's knowledge or experience level. There are hundreds of "newbs" running active who honestly have absolutely no business running active. Experience doesn't necessarily equate to knowledge. "Newb" is a relative term. Some people are newbs compared to you and me, we are the newbs compared to other people. As for knowing who's behind the user name....honestly, it doesn't matter who. An accurate answer is an accurate answer. If the answer was below your knowledge & experience level then what does that say about the question?
  3. I believe it is. I have Vista & a few of problems with WinISD working.....help files won't open & I can't close out of the program once I open it. Tells me I have an access violation at address 00000000....whateverthefuck that means.
  4. Not sure about the newer versions, and I can't get the help file to open on mine....but pretty sure they give directions in the "how to use" help files of WinISD for inputting driver parameters. Atleast they used to.
  5. just did that....and tried a different dmm....same shit Missed this post when I replied. You're going to have to pull them out & measure the coils.
  6. Was going to be my question. Resistance will increase if the coil is hot.
  7. Yes, you can. Yes, it would.
  8. Because there isn't a reason. It's perfectly fine. I would guess he meant to say that the amplifier is not 2ohm stable bridged.
  9. Let us hope not......
  10. To mate with a super tweeter you are going to have to use something with enough area to have decent output, but is small enough to still extend high enough to mate with the super tweeter. I wouldn't recommend a 5.25" driver for that purpose. Do you have the processing to run active?
  11. Sorry, you misunderstood my last post. Adding another speaker to the mix is just going to complicate things. Without the proper equipment and setup it's just going to make things worse instead of better. Don't add another speaker. I know you have an extra hole there and think it has to have a speaker in it, but it doesn't. Just the supertweeter & the mid for right now. That's all you need. Yes, that means you have a hole that isn't filled. Figure out a way to cover it up with something that's not a speaker. Upholster over it, create a badge to stick in there, but don't add another speaker. More isn't always better. At your knowledge level and likely equipment/technical limitations I don't see any advantages to adding more speakers to the mix.
  12. Just because there's a hole, doesn't mean a speaker has to fill it. A 3" midrange is going to have an awfully difficult time blending with the supertweeter unless you pad the hell out of the tweeter.....at which point all of that sensitivity becomes meaningless and you might as well have just gone with a normal tweeter. That and you would need a way to actively cross all 3 speakers.
  13. Running 100w over the RMS is likely not going to cause any damage. More than likely one of the system settings was set incorrectly such as the gain, bass boost, etc, or he was using a ported enclosure & played too far under tuning. In which case, your friend could suffer the same fate even if running "exactly" the rated power handling. When you set the gains to a certain volume then tell someone to not turn it past that, they don't listen... The gain was set improperly then.
  14. No. There's no need for two drivers per side output wise, and sound wise all it's going to do is cause significant destructive/constructive interference issues which will mess up the frequency response & decrease the quality of sound.

  16. Fi offers recones. Why in the hell would you even consider not having it reconed with original parts from Fi?
  17. Follow the noise troubleshooting guide. It will take you step by step through the process.
  18. No, that has nothing to do with it. Nor having the speakers wires by the RCAs. There is a sticky at the top of this section for troubleshooting noise: Noise Troubleshooting Guide.
  19. That is a terrible install location for tweeters.
  20. There's far more to raising a soundstage than where the tweeters are located & their crossover point. Crossing extremely low to raise the stage has the side effect of more than likely increasing distortion from the tweeter at the very least, & more than likely their FR down that low won't be too stellar. My guess would be your problems with stage height are more related to things such as phase & FR (or some other issues) than they are crossover point. My tweeters are almost always in my kicks.....no issues w/ stage height when setup properly.
  21. Even if he's doing a boat load of mids, there's no reason to have more than a single pair of tweeters. If they are truly 109db sensitive then 30w per driver will get a single pair of them loud enough to begin deafening you, literally deafening. That's ~128db over the very sensitive range of human hearing. Though depending on his system layout and such, using a "supertweeter" may be far less than ideal.
  22. Just because you've seen "some guys" running 1kw per driver, doesn't mean it's a good idea for everyone to try. There's zero audible difference between 1kw and 1200w. Do you presently have an amplifier, or is this a new system/install?
  23. Two of those tweeters in your doors isn't a great idea. No reason to need more than a single pair. What mids are you using them with and how/where do you plan on crossing them?
  24. I'd keep the Peerless. Not sure what tweeters but 1.2Khz is pretty low even for a large format. Realistically you'll probably end up more in the 2khz range. Really no reason to run a tweeter down that low if you have a mid that can cover that range well. Lessen the distortion from the tweeter & probably better FR as well.
