in his case I believe used equipment is his friend. its hard to be on such a tight budget and get impressive gear.craigslist ftw! Considering my experience with used woofers, I really want to buy new. Also, this is not a "save up until I can afford something better" situation. I'm just setting a strict budget for myself to limit my total system cost. I'm only pushing 500 watts so I'm not in the market for a $300 sub.I wasn't insinuating that you couldn't afford a new sub, just sayin a used one might be more up your alley. if you listen to the sub and take it out of the box and check everything over then its really hard to get a bad deal on a used sub..

I have personally had the sa 12s and american bass xd 12s both nice subs and you will be pleased with either of the 2 especially since your used to the polk sub.. you may want to roll with a ported box though

decided to just make a simple box. I dont have the skills or tools to get all crazy. can someone please explain to me how to get the carpet to look nice?. ive googled it and watched vids of it but im missing something somewhere.. ive only built 3 boxes so far and the 2 ive tried to cover just look awful and I couldn't figure out how to make it look right. do I need to design my box around what i want to cover it with? like if I have a box thats 16 x 21 x 33 and try to carpet it. would it be easier to do if the box were say like 17 x 22 x 31? lol if that makes any sense

hook a speaker directly up to the headunit wires and verify it plays. doesnt have to be installed in the car to do this use a battery or a power supply.

alot of people on here do come off the wrong way. im sure its just from years of the same questions and dumb shit. you get better results if you just google shit and research it. if you run into issues after that there are a few people on here that you can pm and get better/nicer answers. from what i've seen if your not already a pro at this then its best to not make a thread.

did u try bypassing the factory amp? I didnt read all that stuff cuz im at work and just browsing but we just hooked up a similar deal in my buddies eclipse and we had to run wires straight to the speakers because he didnt wanna spend 100 bucks on the wiring harness. if you have a extra speaker laying around try hooking it up to the HU and see whats up.

Alton. I had it running on a t2500 in the back seat of a f250 crew cab. the box was a little over 5 cubes tuned around 33 hz. The sub was nasty loud but for the price i expected alot more.. it didnt sound good either but that may have been because the sub was literally right behind your head like inches away. my buddy bought it from me and you dont live that far from us im sure we could set up a time and place to meet sometime so you can get a demo.. it does get really loud and low but casey had a 12 inch single zcon in this jacked up box and the zcon got just as loud and just as low sounding good while doing it and he had it on a ap3000 @ 4 ohms.. im not doggin fi. I'll just never own another one. ive heard some lower end ones that were pretty impressive for what they were but for a top end high dollar sub I guess I just expect too much.. thats just my opinion but everyone has a preference.

I had a btl n3 and a team fi 15 and no offense but ill never EVER own another fi product.. and if I dont like this zcon.. which I dont see how I couldnt. but I think imma roll with ol dss.. everything ive seen from Q seems to be legit. Port it with a really well built box, and it will be just about impossible to dislike a Zcon. SSA and SSA subs have been around a good while now for a reason. Our strongest marketing is word of mouth as that is how most customers find us. exaxtly why I ordered one
