  1. When using plexiglass or lexan or acrylic how thick does it have to be for just like a window 12-inch by 12-inch? Is this a bad idea considering it's a box with 2 evil 18 on two Crescendo 3500? Is one material better than another?
  2. I have heard that too I did forget about it though. I thought about it all day yesterday and there are 4 local guys here running these this year. 3 of them are running 4th orders. So I've decided I'm going to go ported. I'm thinking Centerport 15 cubes. @30z ... 228sq port area. No I have not tested this through any program since I don't have a computer. This means I will probably start getting bashed anytime now. but if I'm completely wrong here someone could let me know it would be appreciated.
  3. Well I pulled the trigger and I got 2 evil 18s. A lot of my friends are telling me 4th order bandpass I'm not completely sold on doing it. One of my friends has the same Subs and paid for a custom design for his vehicle where sealed is 5.5 cubes ported is 14.8. SSA recommends 4.5 - 6.25 sealed. I realize that is strictly for a sealed box, but my question is that 5.5 that they have designed for him is only big enough for 1 sub. Is the design rules different with 4th orders? I'm leaning more towards just a regular ported but my thought process was for an extra 2-3cu tops why not have the same set up?
  4. You've made a few different enclosures for zcon that I've noticed in the past. Do you think they do well in 4th orders? I know some subs are not made for four quarters and I'm not sure if these are or not I was just curious
  5. For my box and installing my subs I used spax screws. I believe they have a zinc coating on them making them gold. They have their own bit would use basically a Torx bit with a circle in the center of it. The reason we use those on my box because I believe there are grade 5? Which means you can't break them from bending them sideways not just pulling on them straight out. I like them because of the special bit nobody can just hop in there and unscrew my subs and take them out. They're strong as hell and they look good.
  6. I thought you were all set on getting no slim subs. What is the thing supposed to be done anyway
  7. Johnnys 4 x8's jot sure what power. That video was a silverado, so he had room for 10's. I think youd be happy with sundown x8's. Theyre 750rms and get plenty loud. A local guy had 6 of them in an ext cab s10 over the summer and did 150+ on a ns1 (6500rms sundown amp). Youll have to check out a local park n pound someday. Most of the time we have them at Gibraltar Trade Center in Mount Clemens. They get together a few times up in flint i forget where tho. Theres probibly 8 car audio groups for michigan alone.1 of the facebook groups im in is Mitten car audio.
  8. With 8 inches as one of the measurements between the seats I don't know how you're going to get a 10 inch sub thats 11 inches mounting depth in there. I just posted that video to tell you that there's more ways to put a sub in there do use your imagination you don't need to go all the way across the cab you could put two of them behind the passenger seat slide the passenger seat for just a little bit. Or you can use of the room behind the passenger seat and the center console. The possibilities are limited but not impossible
  9. Your in bay city michigan? Cool im down in romulus (detroit metro air port). Theres a few good builders around here. Im not totally convinced of some of their design skillz but if yu get them a design theyll make it for ya.
  10. Well I don't know how you got the first set of dimensions but the second set of dimensions are definitely a lot better. not to mention you can also designed the box to come up to the top of the seat up along the wall there for your port if you need to the report will come out by the headrest.
  11. I didn't think about that for Portarea. In the single box port area is 78. Where the dual box is 110. To run 2 subs would you not double port area as well? I have seen on here people say don't just make a box that the company says is optimum. I've also seen people say don't make a box based on power while I've seen other people say if you're running more power make it a little smaller.
  12. Okay so I want to build my own box of time I've had my box built in the past for me. Mostly leaning towards the sq side. I want to build something loud this time. I seen read a lot of stuff on here its got me confused. I did try downloading winid on my laptop but couldn't exactly get it to work right. I left it alone for a couple weeks cuz I had plans on changing my subs but they fell thru. since then my laptop has died and I do not have a way to use that program to figure out what kind of numbers I need. So if somebody could tell me port size and cubes to build i can use those to make a design. I have 2 zcon 15's. Cresendo 3500 on each turned down a bit. Thinking 31hz. I'm going Centerport if that helps. If you guys can help I appreciate it thanks.
  13. Extra recones or just cones?Subs plus recones. I tossed around the idea of doing that alot those 2weeks. Then decided against it because it was too much of a rush. But today they just announced another sale so I think I'm going to do it. So to anybody a couple hours away from Detroit I have no problem Driveing a little bit
  14. Or you can buy my 2, 15in zcons comes with 2 new extra cones for 800. So I can put my order in for some SSA evils Evils are under 600 right now til the 15th. Also what kind of car are they going in to have an idea how much room you have?
  15. Am i,the only 1 qondering what the dream car is that this is going into? And welcome !!
  16. Ok i spoke to the kid and he sold em, so sorry. And yeah this is in the wrong section.
  17. Just 1? There's been a kid on the car audio page in Michigan. He only has 1 I'm not sure if it's d2 or d4. But I'll get you his name I gotta look them up first
  18. I say number til cliping is cause im at 71.0 volts right now my clamp meter says 36.5amps so unless everything ive read and seen is wrong then volts x amps doesnt equal watts? The oscope shows clippining at somewhere around 72.0 cant remember exactly, so i backed it,down a little bit to where i thought id be safe. Since every sub has an rms rating thats what im goin by how much it can handle. Thats how 99% of everybody, sets up any system. They, dont stamp on t, "take a guess and see if youre right". So if im figuring it out wrong then how do you figure it out? Obviously something is wrong and i thought i,did everything right, which is why im asking, what did i do or did i not do cause i have no idea what went wrong.
  19. Okay so I found out my voltage gauge is not reading correctly went to adjust it and even just touching it with a screwdriver drop my voltage on the gauge 2v. So I bought a new stinger gauge. So all the way to work today I was bumping pretty hard volume was all the way up to 40 on my Pioneer 4100. now I checked it and that's what I set my gains on so @40hz is what I use to set it with my scole, said I still had another .75-1.0v till clipping on both amps. So i should be perfect. Each 15in 2250 rms zcon is getting 2591watts. But today in my 10min commute i smelled somethin nasty. Got to work and put my hands on the dust caps and they were pretty hot. Kinda got me scared there for a little bit cuz I don't want to blow myself already even though I do have fresh Recones at home and ready to go in case I do but why would it be doing this? I'm going to double check with my oscope and clamp meter tomorrow. It shouldn't be too much power for the subs what could it be that the box that I have versus the power that I'm pushing does doing it or could it be something else?
  20. Ok so the first day I had these amps hooked up together I blew two fuses coming off the alternator. I happened to only have 2, 200amp fuses cuz that's all they had in the store when I got them. So I picked up a couple 300 put them in went fine for a day and a half and then I let some kids in the back seat and forgot to tell them about my RCA plugs so they broke one. By taking it and it was totally my fault cuz I didn't have it blocked off. But since then I've decided to change and run one amp per sub. today I went to a competition and after the competition I put it on term lab out of curiosity. At the beginning of the day I clamped it at 2591 watts for each amp at 14.1v. My drivers window is stuck down 1-1/2in but on the meter and I posted 143.8 @48hz at 13.5v. It was 90 outside and the truck been running awhile. Everybodys scores were down compared to earlier. Wasn't sure what to expect since I've never done it before. But I know there's things like sealing off the bed from the cab I could have got a higher score my window being cracked open a little bit makes a difference my boxer is not design for SPL. Box specs are 7cu @ 33hz. I did it out of curiosity because personally I do not give a crap about what the meter says I do it for me and me alone and what it sounds like.
  21. Ok so i also picked up a tpi clampeter. I got my amps installed, batteries inatalled. For my initial gain settings how use YouTube 40 Hertz tone but it didn't say anything about being 0 dB or -5 db. Gotta go TuneIn and the clamp on it and I came out with 123.1v and 38.2a which comes out to 4702 watts. These cresendo amps straps are rated at 7000 @ 2ohms. Is this normal because of box rise? I know a lot of people hate that saying. I have no idea what mine is because I haven't put it on a meter yet
  22. Okay that's kind of what I thought is underneath the truck that's what I was thinking of doing. Yeah I seen the pictures of the battery bank being grounded but I didn't see the MP so I just assumed they were to the battery. Well that always sucks to hear you got to lose the truck been there though thinking about selling the stuff I would join in the one of the Facebook pages I'm on called avalanche style maybe you'll have luck selling to somebody on there
  23. How did you run your power wire to your batteries? Through the truck or under it? Im thinking of putting my batteries in the back like you did for now til i can do my interior the way i wanna do it. And did you ground your amps to the batteries?
  24. Yeah they are the xl's. I wasnt sure if iiked them at 1st because theyre so completely diff than the focals. But not much bass or no type set up i think the focals would be better, but with my 15's i do think i like these hertz better.
