  1. ok glad i could help...
  2. Other than helping sealing up the box and semi rounding corners,...ive never seen a difference in spl numbers........ive seen people using resin on thr inside and outside of boxes to prevent humidity from slowly seeking into the mdf wood and making it weaker.......
  3. Manbeer they are set up as 2 hk802sx amps each running a pair of ssd 15's @.5ohm per channel.....i know these subs are rated at best 1200 watts rms with all the options i got, but i really doubt that amp will do what it says it does...so i took that into consideration.....I just want 2 amps that will power and sumtimes over power my subs more efficiently as far as power/current draw.....i want the sz 3000's but Santa Claus would laugh at me if i put that on my list......so would my wife!!!!!
  4. well yeah im sure ill have less current draw but will i get the same performance??? That a million dollar question i know........I man the amps i have now ar actually really strong...but my other vehicle has a kicker 2500.1 in it and i can just tell a huge difference in power/strength? Was trying to find amps that will perform like it or very similiar at a 1 ohm load....kickers 2500 will not do this.......i know the saz3000 is what i need but they just cost so f'n much.......hoping the orion amps would save me....lol
  5. i went to atlanta friday night and went to the pink pony and tattletails for the first time!!!!! Needless to say i like atlanta,....they have good attrations!!!!!!
  6. well would 2 of the 1500's do better than my 2 hk802sx amps????
  7. Ok dbjunior i skipped over the part that said used...but yes i just found those exact amps for sale on the forum ...let me see what i can work up....
  8. Where do you shop for sundown amps.....899 each is what i saw...... i really only want to spend around 1200 dollars.....
  9. Im sorry i posted a link to the amp i was talking about but i guess you didnt see that.....but yes im talking about the hcca-d5000
  10. O i agree on the blue top, it wasnt my intentions to keep it that way......just temperary. And how positive are you on the Orion amp? Your the first person ive heard say that it only did that much power??? I thought for sure it would at least do 2500 watts seeing as it says its a 5000 watt max, 2500 watts RMS. Going by current draw....250 amperes...it should do 2500 watts? Im interested as to how you have some to this conclusion? Please fill me in....
  11. Currently HO 165 amp alternator Kinetik HC1800 under hood with the big 3. Optima blue top in the back....plan on adding 3 to 4 HC1400 batteries in rear with amps when my friend pays me back sum $ within the next week....
  12. looking at replacing my two MA Audio HK802sx Amps for two hcca 2500's possibly...... http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Co...sid/0/SFV/30046 I know this company has been taken over by directed elelctronics...and all the orion products arent what they used to be but....ive installed several of there new Cobalt series amps and speakers in customers vehicles and they all seem to perform very very well for the price.....so i was hoping someone had some insight on there new hcca 2500 model...... The amps i have now work great, but i only had one amp at first......then i upgraded from 8 memphis 12's to 4 Fi SSD 15's w/ bp power option and copper coils Dual 1 ohm and added a 2nd amp......wow what a huge difference in power consumption.......Hoping that going from a high current amp to a class d amp will make a big difference........ If anybody knows of another couple amps to get that will do the job...please let me know....and since this is my daily driver and not my SPL vehicle my budget for amps will be around 1200-1400 dollars.....\ Holla Back people!!!!!!! Thanks for lookin' Gerront aka 4Runner
  13. HMMMM ok dokie then.......guess ill just stick to 12 volts anf try and keep the voltage up there....thanks guys
  14. O im sure your right, but i would isolate one battery for the vehicles power only at 12 volt.....id just have to find a way to do that and keep all the batteries charged? Hmmmm i may be in a pickle?
  15. Get the Dual 2 ohm. Wire it in parallel for a 1 ohm load. That amp should be a very nice match with that sub....
  16. Absolutley.......most welding companies carry replacement cables/wire for welders. 4 awg 2 awg and 0 awg can commonly be found at decent prices......Just beware that if you ask for 0 gauge wire...look at it first....i bought 20 ft of this stuff and it was much larger than your standard 0 gauge power wire......which is good if you can fit it into a terminal or your amps...i had a hard time with it.....
  17. Multiple batteries is a must on high end systems...although i wouldnt call myself a pro at really powerful systems...im currently building one now and having a lil trouble....anyways the easiest way to determine what you will need for your situation is to figure up your current draw from your amplier or amplifiers. Most companys will tell you what max current draw is if there are no fuses on the amp......But if the amps have fuses you basically just add them up.( three 30 amp fuses will be 90 amps ex. ) For your batteries/alternators you will need to match or exceed that total amperage number by going by the Ah (amp hour) rating of the batteries or the amperage of the alternator. As far as running multiple alternators thats not a good question for me....custom made brackets and wiring and that is even if the vehicle permits such mounting options........there are some companys that make dual alternator kits but its just for specific vehicles like chevy trucks/suvs etc. Hope any of my info helps....
  18. Well i just installed all my equipment in my 4runner. I received my speakers today and hooked everthing up...4 15 ssd w/copper coils and bp power option...and im running 2 MA HK802SX amps.......Well the system hits pretty good, but i think it should or can do more....My voltage is dropping down to 10.2 volts at worst. Im loosing power like crazy....Even with multiple grounds and hots distributed everywhere my grounds are getting warm!!!!!<---not good i know.....I have the following installed right now -165 Amp Alternator -Kinetik HC1800 Under Hood -Optima Blue Top in the rear with amps (temp) I know this is not enough juice, but i have the optima sold and i was going to replace that battery with four HC1400. Due to limited space this is all i can really fit back there...... I was also thinking about running a few 16volt batteries but im new to the 16 volt thing....will my alternator keep a 16 volt battery charged? Really would like to do the 16 volt thing...... Anybody have any other suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Lets see what some of you audiophiles can come up with.....just keep in mind im not rich!!!!!
  19. excuse me!!!! Let me repost somewhere else then
  20. Well i just installed all my equipment in my 4runner. 21. Well i recieved my subs today......im pretty impressed...but i think they can or should do more. My voltage is dropping down to like 10 volts when you run it real hard.....So i hope everything will eventually get louder when i add more batteries by the amps. Im going with 4 HC1400 in the rear and keep the HC1800 under the hood with the H.O. Alternator(165amp). Hopefully this will help......any suggestions?
  22. its more crisp and clean sounding than anything else, lots of midbass/ vocals. But with the right adjustments its capable of sounding like a 1000 pissed off snakes hissing at you......
  23. Actually yes im going full power!!! I have made several upgrades on the electrical system to help compensate for all the current draw...Kinetik HC1800 under the hood,Blue top Optima in the rear (temp), as well an upgraded alternator going from 70 amps stock to 165 amp at 1800r.p.m. I also have plans on removing the optima (very soon) and adding some other kind of batteries in the back...the kinetik battery i just bought didnt really impress me as far as power vs dollar. Even after all these upgrades, running one of my 802sx amps at full power will still drop the voltage down to 11.?? Volts. So im really gonna need a couple of batteries that will really talk the talk and walk the walk...but without breaking the bank. Any suggestions on that would be awesome,...ive been experimenting with other brands of batteries as well,..from what i can see most of the batteries ive seen are all AGM batteries (absorbed glass mat). Which is the same exact thing you can find in battery back-up systems as well as wheel-chair batteries and golf cart batteries. By using these batteries i could save money by not buying the "name", but still get the same warranty and performance. But i will have to say the powermaster brand seem to have alot of positives...so i may lean more toward them.
  24. Yes, its going in a 96' toyota 4runner.
