  1. Well he said he only had 1500 watts on the btl and would have 7k to run a 12 so I'm thinking with the right box, right install and a 9912Z it would be pretty close. He might have to go a little on the burp side of things but I have heard single sub setups that have done over 150db. Now I have never ran a btl but your right there is no replacement for displacement all you can do is try and see. I know one bad ass 12 or 15 would be all the bass anyone ever needs unless your competing.
  2. Wow that's not that bad I figured you would say $20k plus. As my business grows I'm eventually gonna need more space and will probably do something similar just smaller. I never dreamed my business would do as good as it is in such a rural place but it's been almost non stop since I opened up. Not that I'm complaining more the merrier.
  3. Yes it's a lot of cone area to over come no doubt, but seeing as 9918z did 180db I can only assume it would be the 12" with the best shot at getting anywhere near it.
  4. Fair enough.
  5. Yes those floors are awesome I saw one the other day at a Aquariam that was painted 3D to look like a ocean with waves. Who ever painted it was a straight up artist.
  6. Man I need one about half that size for my car detailing business shine pro's. Right now I'm working out of the two car garage attached to my house. In the warmer months we do them on the concrete drive way out front and pull them in if rain comes. If you don't mind me asking what would all that material cost for a building about half that size? I know it ain't cheap but you gotta spend money to make money.
  7. Try a DD 9912 or 9512 those things can do crazy numbers and don't need to huge of a box.
  8. Just look at the numbers it will give you some idea of how loud and what it might sound like. Vas, BL all that stuff.
  9. I have sundown team 12's in my trunk and I love them I just need more power their laughing at this single crescendo BC3500. I been trying to get another amp but they're always on back order.
  10. Why do you feel the need to insult anyone? Did I say one thing that isn't true. Please tell me you haven't never seen or heard of brand whoring before calling me dumb, cause I have seen plenty. And do you think a new sub should come with glue smered all over the bottom of the surround? Now the blowing of the sub probably was user error, no doubt but the glue was what I was mostly talking about. Well that and how most of these subs will only have one size sub optimized for its size and the rest are just the same with bigger or smaller cones and soft parts. And I have nothing against this idea it's ok for a spl rig that needs to get by a little cheaper but if you want sq or reliability I would go another way. I have 2 team sundown 12's that I love they get nasty loud but don't have the sq of my JL's but there not supposed to I bought one set for sq and one for a spl build. And as far as the crescendo amp I stand but what I said their customer service sucks how can you only make a few amps here and there and make it almost impossible to buy one and stay in business. Hell even Arron here at ssa suggested I sell it and go with ampere or us acoustics.
  11. Take the answers! What answers? All I ever get is a smart ass comment from m5, now some of the other members where helpful, and I appreciate it. And I wouldn't call them pro's, If they hadn't called themselves pro's already. And as far as accolades, all I said was I knew cars, and construction, it's not like I threw down a entire resimay. You ever see the Skit on Saturday night live of the office tech guy who always try's to make everyone feel stupid because they don't know computers, well that basically m5 in a nut shell. Money says he even looks like jimmy Fallon. I came here to learn the tech side, of what I have been using for decades, and so far all I have learned is big boxes might be louder and m5 is a arseho. But I don't sweat nothing it's all good.
  12. You get what you pay for, that's why I almost always run JL. All these discount dealers just use mostly the same parts for 90% of this stuff. Like the amps, they are the same amp with a different name etched on them. I was looking at 3 amps the other day, and they where identical, it was the audio legion 3500, and I can't remember what the other two where but they are here on ssa to. When your sub was ordered they probably just grabbed some parts out of a giant bin. and slapped it together half ass. I myself made the mistake of buying a crescendo BC3500, now it's been months and I can't find or buy another to match it, so I will either have to eat a big loss, or run different amps. I will say one thing for my W7's, there all designed and built different for there size, and not just a frankenwoofer built out of cheap spare parts for 3-4 sizes. Did you not notice most of these subs have the same motors from the 10 to the 15 inch? But even still some of them can do big numbers, but usually don't last, or sound like shit doing it. My last set of spl type subs lasted 6 months, and I have had my JL's for a few years now. They have already destroyed one car, and now working on the second. Yea I need dynomat I know, I'm working on it. But atleast these subs have reconesvso they can just super glue you another One together. Then six months or so down the road it will probably need another. Good thing there cheap it cost like $350 to have my dub 7 rebuilt.
  13. That's awesome. Yea I had the same problem in my neon with the trunk getting ripped off, and that was just barely over 150db on music. We welded that trunk back 5 different times, and it just kept ripping right around the welds. Like the welds held, but it would just rip new sheet metal on the outer edge of the welds. Luckily one side held or the trunk lid would have flew off. My subs where ok, but my amps where badass, modified US2000x's, I have no idea how much they put out, but it had to be a ton. I bought them used from a guy who was sponsored by US amps, and they came out of a comp vehicle. They had been refurbished, and modded, by US amps. I ended up blowing both my 15" inch death penalty's like nothing. I got happy with the nobs one day, and I smelled the coils and turned it down, but they where already done. Next time I tried to play them they where locked up tight. And that was just 15-20 seconds of music.
  14. Ha I never started anything, dude was just an arseho to me for nothing. Just cause I'm not a pro doesn't mean I should be talked down to. Honestly I'm trying to learn, I have installed and used many, many, systems but never had no Idea about how complex some of this stuff is. I knew enough to set them up properly, and set everything, but not all the technical in's and outs. I'm just trying to learn, if I say something stupid it's because I read some bs on the Internet and don't know the correct way. I even tried to explain all this many threads ago and all I got was a smart ass remark and was told I better have thick skin around here. So maybe you guys need to take your own advice and climb down off your high horses. Congratulations you all know more then me about one thing stereo's now if you wanna talk cars or heavy construction that's some subjects I am a pro at and can keep up with anybody. As a matter of fact if you have drove on almost any interstate in the southeast you probably drove across a bridge I built.
  15. I read some where that all alpine head units have crossovers that cut off bass at 30hz so they want allow you to hit the low lows. Is this true or just internet BS?
  16. It will now.
  17. Why not just stop being a passive aggressive bitch and say what you really mean.
  18. Yea I think I will just throw another HD in it and sell the crescendo. I was gonna use 2 of the crescendo 3500's for a spl build but since I can't ever seem to find another bc3500 to match the one I already have I just gonna sell it and go another way on amps. I have 2 sundown team 12's so I'm gonna need a couple of decent size amps or one monster amp. I prefer the 2 smaller amps cause it's easier to buy one at a time instead of saving up for one big lump of money. Plus it's easier to sell cheaper amps then huge high dollar amps. Or atleast where I live it is.
  19. I really wish I had saved my Phoenix gold M100 and M50 those where the best sounding amps I have ever had including my current JL and my last Zapco's. Maybe it was the good old AB power or just my old ass ears but I haven't been able to match that system since for sq. I ran 3 12w6v1's in a 4 cubic foot box sealed in a tiny Toyota hatchback. Judges seemed to like it to.
  20. Thermally it want do nothing but I popped those fuses a couple of times and never blew the speakers. Hell I ran them in the 90's and there still in the top of my closet in working order. The first time I blew them I thought it was just a light for decoration and popped it and the second time was dogging it at a competition. I ran them off a Phoenix gold M50 for years.
  21. I went and looked and they where MB Quartz 61/2 components and they have a light for a fuse so when you overpower the system the power is sent into the light instead of the speaker to avoid blowing your speaker. I may not be a pro but this is one time I know I'm right m5.
  22. I have never used these speakers but I assure you the ones I had where fused and if you went over there rms they would blow the fuse and it had to be replaced to work again. I thought this was asomething they still did just used a resistor or something instead of a fuse. I guess they just filter out frequencies now right. But I know they do take more power then say a active set so unless you go crazy it's gonna be hard to over power a good set anyways. I would assume they would destort and sound like poop if they where in danger.
  23. If your running a component set with passive crossovers it shouldn't matter how much over rms you are cause the resistors will block anything over what ever it's set up for. I had a set once that had fuses that lit up when they reached max rms and you knew you didn't need any more power.
