  1. I've found that midbass is far more install-dependent than the drivers themselves. Cheap drivers can do amazing things when set up properly, but that's not something that happens automatically...
  2. I bought my PG Tantrum 1200.1 for $300, not quite 2kW, but you aren't going to hear the difference between 1.4kW and that.

    Diesel?
  4. To me, that's the sign that something's wrong with the midbass...
  5. For CD's, labels like Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, Sheffield Labs, Chesky Records, and others do a pretty good job usually. What I meant by that is that some of the best-sounding recordings were made on big 2 and 4-track tape machines in the '50s and put on vinyl...the problem about recording large orchestral pieces now with digital equipment is that it costs a heck of a lot to hire all those union musicians and only sell a tiny amount of copies...where it's not very mainstream, it's hard to get a lot of recordings nowadays like that...
  6. If you're looking for the 1812, the Telarc version is kind of a standard I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but the best-sounding classical music isn't recorded on modern equipment. In fact, most of it's not on CD at all...

  8. Ditch the rear speakers, that'll give you more to spend on the front stage and possibly a higher quality amp than the low level Hifonics.
  9. How much of a voltage increase did you get at the amp input?
  10. They don't have warranty coverage...but if you're buying one you really shouldn't need one as you should know what you're doing anyway. In a perfect world.
  11. I'll keep my own opinions about those comments to myself...

Are you asking what is better? There's no definitive answer to that...and without any budget, music, install, or personal requirements I can't answer that. I'm really having a hard time understanding what you're writing...maybe find someone to proofread?
