    It happens...

I liked the way Matt's bookshelves came out a lot, but I'm not sure how that'd look on six foot towers...

Hmm...might have a line on a set of cabinets for the Fostex's, already built, guy wants to get rid of them for nothing. All I'd need to do is drive a few hours to pick them up. Bare MDF though...got any ideas on how to finish them? Veneering isn't possible because of the design of the front baffle...
  4. That's what I was thinking as well My next thought was...going to send Dave a link...
  5. Somewhere in the audible range of sound. Anything beyond that is a haphazard guess...
  6.
  7. I wouldn't.
  8. Dammar treatment for full range drivers is relatively common on the older ones, but that's not really related to what you're talking about.
  9. Where are these pictures????

For #1, only your ears are going to be able to answer that, not us. #2, I would stay away from those.

The last time you saw music live, were there performers playing behind you? The idea is to present a realistic sound stage in front of you, rear speakers distort that. CarAudio.com has an excellent thread about sound deadening and speaker mounting that will explain a lot of that. I'm not sure what's meant by that. I've certainly never seen it done in a door...vented kickpanels, maybe.
  12. IIRC, DLS makes a medium-power monoblock that would do as a sub amp, or Zapco, or a bunch of others...not that critical. Everything else sounds good...
  13. Welcome aboard
  14. I'm just wondering where they cut corners to meet that price...
  15. RAAMmat is sold directly, just Google them.
  16. JimJ replied to mrogowski's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
Yep, that's it. And just in the future, it's what.

Sounds like the dual SSD's would fit the bill nicely...

If it's a lease, it's not like they're going to rip apart the door panels and check. If you do a clean job it's undetectable, until you tap the door panel Loyd's Aveo showed me that hatches can rattle just as nicely as any trunk will. If anything, they'll provide just another load for the alternator to charge...the power needs to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is the alternator(s).

Theoretically you'd get a less-peaky response out of the sealed woofers, though your current setup probably isn't very peaky to begin with. SPL-wise, that's impossible to say. Anything beyond saying it'll be somewhere in the audible range is just conjecture and guesses until you get some meter time Welcome to SSA, btw!
  20. JimJ replied to mrogowski's topic in Test 1, 2, 3...
I don't want to speak for Scott...but personally I'm imagining that as one big aural clusterfuck. You want to keep with the same size woofers playing the same frequency range...otherwise you run into cancellation and response peaks and all sorts of nasty things that could have been avoided.
  21. Then why bother?
  22. JimJ replied to damonhargroves07's topic in Fi Products
    That wasn't particularly funny
  23. Personally, I wouldn't. Losing your hearing isn't worth it. Now, if this was for a dedicated vehicle that would only be used in competition, I'd think differently...
