A 25Wx2 amplifier rated in "max watts" is what, 12.5 watts RMS? So that's less than the head unit in your example

I've purchased pre-built sub enclosures from people online for $100-$120... $300 is far too much unless it involves a lot of wood or glass work.

Alpine used to make a lot of those types of amplifiers, with high level inputs for an OEM source... 30Wx2 ones pop up on Ebay all the time. A "25Wx2" amplifier that's rated in max wattage really sin't much of an improvement over the head unit itself, though. Certainly not worth the hassle of installing an outboard amp.
