Friend has a ford econoline 350
What type of engine? I think they had the 5.8L V8 in the '350's that range of years...good size stock alternator. Regardless of the engine, it's pretty damn easy to install stuff in these vans. Front speaker locations are 6x8's, which easily accomodate a 6.5" driver with minor cutting of the door panel. Build a thin baffle to securely mount the speaker. My '94 E-150 had a 1 DIN radio mount, making it easy to adapt to whatever your source unit may be. Sound deadening the doors is a piece of cake if you have manual windows, just fill in the large holes with a piece of Lexan or plexi to increase midbass response. The difference is light and day. If you have any specific install questions (like how to get panels off and where wires are run), feel free to ask. I've lost count of how many times I've tore mine down and re-wired it

f'ing ground loops...grrrrrrr current differentials make me le angry probably going to have to get a big-ass isolation transformer for the preamp, monoblocks and turntable to prevent the thing from sounding like an SPL vehicle during a burp @ 60Hz...

As I'm listening to the Chesky CD right now, getting a little hum with it, but I think that's the power amp's fault - I've bypassed the preamp on my NAD 3020 and am just ghetto-rigging it to the main PA. Sounds damn good, though

I don't mind if I have the right tools, but I'm anal-retentive if I have to freehand cut something with a jigsaw or circular saw or something. Give me a table saw or properly-set up miter saw and I'm fine, but I hate using freehand tools.

I won an Ipod shuffle in a raffle I entered at a small tech-fair thing here...not really sure what to do with it yet. Resale value isn't high enough for me to want to sell it, I'm thinking I'll get a pair of Grado SR80s for it or something. Or the equivalent Senn's, but I like the Grado's I've heard in that range.

Welcome to the IHoP
Well, the preamp's in as the pictures show. Turntable is scheduled for delivery in about two weeks, along with teh monoblocks... Now I just need a place to put all this chit...perhaps convince my dad to build me a set of shelves, or else I won't re-wire the furnace blower motors We operate that way a lot, he won't touch anything electrical the same as I try to avoid woodworking whenever possible. Works out well.

I'm sure you all have seen this pic numerous times, but this is what it's going to look like after I've added a few things...at least as the base is concerned.

I fought the law...and the law won I'll be glad to help test and tweak. Who knows, depending on when your court date is, you could come over with the rest of the crew and help me aim and test my 60+lb. Klipsch floorstanders in my apartment They don't all know it yet, but I'm drafting a few into service for that job, hehe...

Nice in focus shots, and nicely sized, too By the next time you see it, that chinsy plastic volume knob is getting replaced by one of these: http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalog/chassisandknobs.html ...all metal, baby... And it's going to be wrapped in something like this, only in a dark cherry or walnut... I'll get some glowing shots of it tonight, hooked up to the NAD 3020 integrated...

I'm a believer
Get an oscilloscope if you do I have a very hard to impossible time hearing any differences between indentical topologies under the clipping threshold, but w/e.
