  1. I got these off ROE as it was easier. I think that the little board on this last pic here is what you're reffering to. I'll have to take a batter pic of that tomorrow
  2. No I don't. If I'm getting good ohm readings from the subs then wouldn't I need to have other subs to try on the amp? I don't have that either! Bah!! Maybe contact Soundstream Technical. I just might have to do that.
  3. Well that was a short trip. The amp is still being dumb. I also switched RCA cables to rule that out. My only other option is to just run 1 speaker at a time to eliminate each speaker. After that it only leads me to believe the amp is bad for some f*ed up reason If there is anyone that lives near me, I would drive to your place to get this figured out. (98GMC, or ///////////////M5) Anyone else near Montevideo, MN?
  4. *Update* I followed all the advice you guys gave me and nothing worked. voltage was fine, RCAs were fine and nothing rattled when I shook it. When the amp went into protect again I unhooked 1 speaker and the amp came back on! woohoo. I measured the ohms at the box and got 6 ohms/speaker. I then measured at the amp and goe 1.5/speaker. That confused me a little bit but I continued on and wired the subs in parallel. The amp stayed out of protect and pounded HARD. I should have but I didn't take a final ohm measurement at the amp. I'll have to wait and see if it stay out of protect. The way I installed everything, it is impossible to check anything. I'm going out for a road trip to see if the amp will be "normal" now.
  5. Daaaamn, thanks for the fast reply!
  6. Hi guys, my sub amp (Soundstream 2000 monobock) is acting weird. You will hear the subs pop out and then the amp goes into protect. Any time of day, any volume level, music/no music. It's totally random. Just wondering if any of you would have any ideas. I have 165A alternator (stock), 1/0Ga wire to amp. The batt meter on the car stays at 14 volts. The gain on the amp is all the way down. No bass boost. It also seems random when the amp resets itself so I can begin to use it again. Let me know if you need any more info. I'm also wondering if my subs could be the problem. They are dual 3 ohm wired in series to 6 ohm per speaker input (there are 2 on amp). The speakers wired in paralell should have a final load of 3 ohms. The amp has an auto ohm calibrater with 4/2/1 ohm settings. After calibration it sets itself to 4 ohms. Could one of the coils went out on a sub causing a different ohm load? Thanks for any help you can give me.
  7. Thanks ONEBADMONTE, this helps me out for sure! My friend snapped a couple screws in my box even when he predrilled the holes :/
  8. Hi everyone! since my bax is built, it looks kinda naked. I don't want to do the standard carpeting and was thinking about trying something different. I thought about using a roll-on bed liner. Does anyone have experience with this stuff? Any pros or cons? Thanks
  9. Hi everyone. I finally got my system installed and want to take a vid of it to post on here. My question is what kind of cameras work well for good sound reproduction? video cam? or point and shoot with a vid option? I see alot of vids shot by cell phones and in my opinion are a bit annoying and doesn't do anyone any good. So without putting a mortgage on my home to afford a good video camera, I was just curious as to what others around here are using. Thanks!
  10. Could you give more info on the amp and speakers? Glad to see another MN'sotan around here!
  11. It sounds to me that you are onto something with the small factory batt. Could it be he is running the batt low enough so that the alt is providing current to the amp and the batt just can't charge? What are the gain and bass boost set too? The comment made about checking for corrosion was made (I believe) for the fact that if you have corrosion you won't be able to charge the batt properly. Good Luck in finding a solution!

I do have the box but when I click it, it only has 2 options: Basilisk or a mobile phone format.

Hi guys. I was posting a reply to a post when the screen flashed and my skin went from the black one to the white one. I am still lpggwd in and everything, what happened? Are there other skins I can get?
  14. If you get an suv, there is more interior volume to fill up with bass so you will need more of everything (amps, batts, subs electrical) to acheive the same result, "loud" than if you got the evo. you said you dont want to do any kind of damage to the car. I can't imagine that if you put 4000+ watts in anything, you won't have some kind of damage to the vehicle from panel flex and all of the vibrations.

Yeah "chucle", my thinking on that was to keep the factory system in tact since it sounded good right out of gate, while its not audiophile quality. I also didnt have the money at the time to buy multiple amps for the P9. Now that I know I can get a 6 channel amp my choices become easier to put the P9 in

I do like Alpine as I had one in a camero that I had back in the day (about 15 yrs ago). I placed second at an officially judged high school sound-off. The event wasn't really major or nothing, just a few kids "blareing" some tunes. I picked Korn Thanks for the luck BigJon, My next plan of attack is to install my pioneer P9 that I was trying to sell since it is just sitting around. The deck is a component deck and since I have a 6 speaker 2ohm factory setup, I am planning on getting a JL G6600. Thats 100x6 @ 2ohms. Then I can start replacing the factory speakers when some more money rolls in. Anyone have any suggestions for a 6 channel amp?

Hi guys, I bought a PAC Audio adapter to "add an amp" to my factory stereo. The adapter runs around $100 from the PAC site, so I did a little price checkin' around the net. I found a great deal on ebay for $75. shipped from a car dealership out of New York. So I ordered. Everything arrived great, got it installed, and started tweeking the amp. Everything worked great for 2 weeks, when all of a sudden the PAC part burned up. I contacted PAC and they told me they can't help me because I bought it from a NON-AUTHORIZED DEALER. What a funkin' joke I think PAC stands for Piece-O-Chit. So anyway, I think I'll keep my factory set-up and buy an older vehicle so I dont have to mess with all that can-buss shit. I could go with an loc but not sure how they are for sq.
  18. how do those big box stores do when it comes to keeping tight tolerances? don't they quote +/- 1/8th inch? I'm not a box builder, but if your doing a ported box aren't tight tolerances a must?
  19. Hi, curt, I have 2 12's in a sealed box with 2000 watts and I listen to metal, rap, yanni ! I must say I am not disappointed at all in everything I listen to. The metal just Kicks my ass and the rap sounds unbelievable. Since you have a p/u I would suggest 2 12's sealed over the 15 because 2 12's have more surface area which translates to more db's. Good luck in your quest!
  20. one thing I've learned over here on SSA is to buy a camera(if you don't already have one) and use it A LOT! The pros love pics. It also helps when your trying to describe a difficult situation. Good luck in your quest. I think the local shops around here charge around $70-$75/hr. and that doesn't include all the
  21. Happy B-day to ya! have a good one!!
  22. Hello! The formula for volume is Length x Width x Hight or V=LxWxH. So say you are going to use a 2x4. the calculation would be 2 x 4 x 12 inches long= .056 cuft. then just add all your boards together. So for example if you use (2) 2 x 4 x 12's and (2) 2 x 4 x 6's your total brace volume would be .168. Now subtract that from 1.21 and you get a total of 1.04 cuft. And don't forget to subtract the speaker volume as well. NOTE: These numbers I used are for example only!
  23. What's up Hung? I've seen a few of his videos on youtube. He seems to be VERY knowledgeable in speaker box building. There is a few vids of his "guess what's in my trunk" People think they are 12's or something like that and come to find it's a lonely 8, lol. When he builds an enclosure, he utilizes vehicle specific parameters to "aid" in the design process, taking in cabin gain, trunk volume and things like that, and not just the speakers T/S parameters. I love listening to him give his opinion on panel flex too. I believe he has a deal with DD. So if you have some spare time look him up on youtube. Good luck in your quest!
  24. That's pretty ironic. After you posted that, I went on youtube and searched for epicenter. Low and behold 90% of the videos were spanish/corridos
