  1. How about you both go show us evidence and stop being butt hurt? Just joshin' Jono
  2. LOL love that show. I've slowly been buying all the seasons. My fav's the stuffed dog............
  3. One set of the vifas and one set of the MLi's should be fine. I wouldn't bother with two tweeters........ Just for the record those XT25 tweeters are very nice. But make sure you have a play with whatever tweeter you get (different mounting locations, on axis/off axis etc...) Jono
  4. LOL Sorry Samuel! Moar Pic's needed....
  5. Ha! Nice Mate. My chrissy present from Mach 5 wasn't quite to your level but............ pretty cool! I'm thinking a 15" dust cap could look the goods on the IXL10 in the new year. Jono
  6. I don't know if Sam's got any IXL15's in stock in Aust I think its only 18" according to the website?? That may be an issue...... Don't suppose you want to off-load the dead one off really cheap do you?.............. Cause if you do I might have a go at doing a re-cone (BTW was that quote for Aust stock recones or from Mark @ Mach 5??) Jono
  7. Ouch! How did you do that?
  8. Bahahaha............. I take it your TL score may suffer a little at the moment?
  9. All the imprint I've heard has sounded clinical and boring when used in AUTO mode......... H701 is a great little device and combined with a nice touch screen headunit is VERY good to use (like the W505 above from memory). I'm half tempted to get one myself (although expensive over here in Aust). Jono
  10. Ipod on the eclipse is Meh..... Are you competing in SQ? if yes go the pioneer straight out, if no then continue considering the eclipse (which I own). Functionality of the Eclipse is good but menus can have quirks that will annoy you, overall I'm happy with it. Be careful of the Pioneer internal pico fuses and you should be fine. Jono
  11. Please consider that ANY amplifier can kill a speaker (well.... within reason) I've got an ancient Coustic 4x20wrms (about the same as modern headunit power) that will kill speakers rated to 75wrms if it wanted too..... All I have to do is send it a clipped signal which isn't that hard. I know what your saying about matching power, I'm just saying being careful with what you are doing is a better way of protecting equipment IMHO. Learning good "ownership" if that doesn't sound too wanky. To the OP, go listen to some equipment if you can, and let us know what you like (obviously not Kenwood by the sound of it!!) some of the kicker stuff can sound alright for midbass etc but tweeters can leave a little to be desired. Again personal opinion. Jono
  12. Why? Not necessary.......... As long as your not doing stupid things it'll be fine (and things like HPF are in place so they aren't playing too low freq's etc but that is the same for ALL speakers no matter what the power rating...) Choosing speakers should be more a "what sounds good to you" thing to be honest.
  13. Its only going to send 2x the rated power if the volume is turned up enough (and the gain settings allow it). Remember the amplifier isn't a light switch it won't produce 150wrms instantly, its a gradual increase. "Normal" listening levels usually require very little power unless cranked while driving etc..... Plenty of people send more than rated power to speakers and are fine as long as you are logical about volume. jono
  14. Nightshades aren't in production anymore if your wanting a new one (and the V2's aren't due for a while). FYI. Might have to hunt for a 2nd hand one around the traps. Jono
  15. My IXL doesn't even sneeze at 1000wrms, as long as your careful I shouldn't imagine they'd complain too much with 1200-1300wrms of clean power. Although you might be better off with the Mach 5 SPL12 for reliability sakes (and support the Canadian economy still). Jono
  16. No, magnet physical size has little to do with how loud a sub will go. :)There are MANY other factors to consider.
  17. Ahhhh do some research??................. Try the SSA store there's like 3 just in that one spot that will work........... How much do you want to spend? Jono
  18. How much power did you have to them? Personally I found the Mli's to be "ok" midbass wise off 50wrms, but when I threw 200wrms at them they really came alive. MUCH more authority and much more "fun". Anyway that's my experience. I'd be interested to see how the SLS 6.5 went though as I've heard they are very good midbass, probably more suited to a 3way application to be honest. Jono
  19. Better for what? What do YOU want out of them? What are the details/specs of each sub? Can you fit optimum boxes for each in your vehicle? Need I go on?...................
  20. You have gross volume which includes the port volume and driver displacement. Then NETT volume which does not include port volume or driver displacement. This is usually what is published. Jono
  21. LOL How is phil?......... (just a guess) I'm with Sam though would be great to see these down here one day. Jono
  22. Below tuning yes, very much so. Below Fs..... well there seems to be many opinions on that one (I'm on another forum that is having that exact discussion now) and how it can be managed/used creatively. Jono
  23. You can tune a ported box low if you want to (hell like 20hz if you've got the space for the port in a car), and "usually" it will play much louder than the sealed at those low freqs....... I've got a box tuned to 28hz for my IXL10 (subsonic set to 24/25hz) and that plays chopped and screwed music very well (for a single 10" obviously). Plus subsonics aren't a "brickwall" filter Jono
