  1. I've seen that amp normally go for 40 to 50 bucks on ebay.
  2. You could probably get better equipment for the same money shopping online. The amp price is horrible. The sub and box price is not that bad considering you were in a car audio shop
  3. Box design. Probably a low tune and alot of port area
  4. Bump. Any more woofer guru's have any more input??
  5. Thanks for the knowledge edouble. While I got you talking. I have heard alot of people say that a wider gap is better for a daily sub. Whats the reason for that? Also does the number of layers of a coil help increase power handling? I know that the more layers a coil has the more weight it would probably have but is that the only difference.
  6. Also what is the advantage or disadvantage of using a flatwind coil? You have to excuse my noobness on the subject. lol. You never know until you ask
  7. What does spider stiffness affect? Also what affect does using a copper coil vs a aluminum coil? I know copper gives you less resistance but is there any other difference?
  8. Im probably going to let somebody who really knows what there doing build this woofer but Im going to start off on some subs I can mess up 1st.
  9. Softer spiders typically provide more excursion than stiffer spiders? I know that a heavier cone and coil will probably lower the fs. If thats not true please let me know. lol
  10. I believe I have the assembly part down. Im just not really sure what different parts do for sound and how certain parts will affect the specs of a woofer and the sound of a woofer. Right now Im actually working on putting together a low end monster. I currently have a silver top trf motor and im wondering how certain parts will affect my build
  11. Im trying to learn more about subwoofer building. Specifically how different parts affect the sound of a woofer. Soft spiders vs Hard spiders, Aluminum coils vs Copper Coils, High roll surround vs Normal. Is there a thread that goes into detail about this sort of thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated
  12. Thanks Impious, I get what your saying. I found out that the silver top trf motor is supposed to be better for daily use because the gap is wider. Also I have heard that the silver top trf motor takes a 8 layer coil? Anyone with knowledge on the subject please correct me if Im wrong
  13. Bump I know somebody got some info? I hear this is mainly a spl motor, is it possible to make them sound good?
  14. I forgot to add that I will be running about 2000 rms to the woofer. If that makes a difference
  15. Does anybody have experience Customizing TRF Motors? Im looking to create a low end monster with pretty good sound . It will be a 18" woofer thats a daily driver. Are there any particular parts I should request as far as layers to the voice coil or a certain size spiders? Im probably going to go through PSI and have it built.
  16. Well I guess thats a illegal word on this site. But its the car audio site that ends in .org
  17. Im running a alpine 9855 right now and I love it. Im not sure if you are a member over at **** but there is a guying selling a Eclipse CD5000 for 90 bucks shipped. I believe it is a active deck also. Audio legends please correct me if im wrong. lol
  18. What is your enclosure tuned to Sir Lancelot? I want one but Im so happy with the Xcon I cant get rid of it. lol
  19. How do they compare to the Xcons??????? The vid sounds like they love the lows too
  20. You answered your own question. Due to the cone area the 2 12's will probably be louder in a optimal box. What about the Bl displeases you? are you looking for more output?
  21. Whats going to be the tune on your enclosure???
  22. That Draconia is calling me
  23. will the price be the same?
  24. Need more info. Are you looking for SPL or SQ? What kind of music do you listen too? Both are good woofers it just all depends on what your looking for
  25. What about the ssa Xcon? Very powerful sub and they sound great. I have a 18" xcon tuned to 35 hz and it still murders the lows.
