  1. Bang & Olufsen is designing an in-car system for the Audi A8. Looks like it is actually going to be pretty decent. No mention of a subwoofer, but if they do it right, I guess they won't need one. http://www.carsound.com/UBB/ultimatebb.php...c;f=18;t=009872
  2. Martin Luther King: We still have a choice today: nonviolent coexistence or violent coannihilation. We must move past indecision to action.
  3. 1000 POSTS
  4. ahh what the hey, make it to 1000 and then i'll call it a night
  5. Have fun guys, I'm out for the night.
  6. When your own family betrays you, you have no choice but to take action. For personal reasons, I will be leaving this forum shortly. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those that welcomed me here, and those that I have learned from and shared with. For reasons which I frankly do not understand, a certain member obviously doed not want me contributing here, and I certainly am not here trying be considered a member of the "elite" or to gain in any stature or measure of popularity. I do not want to step on other people's toes or dabble in what they consider their "teritory". It is with regret that I type this message, because I felt I made some good contacts here, I have had my run-ins with some, but I still walked away from every situation having learned something. However, I see no point to continue any further activity here, I just dont fit in here. As a show of gratitude to those who have been following my progress, have given me invaluable knowledge and advice, I will continue to post worklogs in the IHoP, for my Regal project and also will post pictures until the doorpods and trunk are finished. After that I will no longer bother anyone with my presence here. If anyone has any objection to this, I am sorry, but please remember that I consider myself unwelcome here. My opinion is not going to change, I dont care if I am begged to come back here. I have no choice but to continue elsewhere. I frankly do not know where I will become a more active member, but I have recently joined a few other forums which offer more or less what I am looking for. Now please, dont think of this as a sob story, I am not looking for sympathy or attention from anyone here. I am simply writing this out of respect for the rest of the members here. I felt I have made my mark here, and those who wish to keep in contact with me may certainly do so via the appropriate channels. Special thanks to mrray13 (Kent) for sharing my viewpoint on so many issues! Special thanks to Justin for the freebie. Thanks to Tirefryer (Ryan ) for everything. Jack Frost, your wisdom has certainly rubbed off on me, I appreciate your passion and your willingness to educate. Thanks to Dennis, Acidburn (Tom) and the rest of the IHoP crew for giving me something to laugh at every day. And thanks to everyone else I missed, Please, don't let me stop you from being members here, don't let me ruin this for you, SSAudio is a great forum, and I wish everyone the best of luck. I really do appreciate everyone here, and thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything. And yes, thanks even to the one who wants me out of here, my brother, supa_c.
  7. You suckups make me SICK I tell ya.
  8. Thanks Ryan, but it doesnt look like anyone is going to see my work. I am heavily considering cancelling the meet.
  9. Come steal me please!!!
  10. The environment is much louder.. much like in car audio there is road noise, in movie theatres there is HVAC, audience noise, projector noise, etc.. Also, the sound of a system like the example Frosty posted is highly dependant upon room acoustics. Movie theatres are much larger, and obviously are going to require more power/ouput from the drivers used in its speaker systems. Plus, designs like that are much much more expensive and labor intensive. I doubt that a multiplex owner would be willing to shell out the dough, and wait as long as it would take to buils a system like that. Commercial movie theatres are designed for one thing only, making money.
  11. ^^ TOP ^^
  12. i see you mrray...
  13. Insane what a few watts and some creative woodworking will do
  14. please excuse the sibling rivalry.... um, no, and thats not the studio im talking about. i've worked in more than one. what are you trying to prove here? and more importantly, do you honestly think this is making me look bad?
  15. All I have left to do is the front half of the doorpods. (I finally decided how I am going to finish them.....but its a surprise for those who show up to the meet ) I have to wire and install the amplifierss and build the mounting boards for them and the DEQ-P9, and wire the speakers, thats about it. Further down the road (ie. when I have some extra cash to throw around) I will be re-doing the rear deck panel and make a custom fiberglass joint. I am also going to tint the windows and install a security system.
  16. Sorry to break it to you, but I have... (Studio ) Bottom line here is that sound is not all about power handling capabilities. .
  17. Regal Update: Calculated the aiming and positioning of the midrange and midbass baffle, installed/glued the dowelling onto the back. Picked up some fleece today, which hopefully I will get streched and fleeced this weekend. I also installed the tweeters up on the a-pillars, utilizing the "aiming" mounts. They look pretty sick, and I love having the ability to aim them however I want. I will never flush mount! Anyway, thast about all I did today, but it did take about 4 hours to get all of that done. I have really been taking my time on this project, making sure that its done right from the start... but I can say with confidence, it will be done in time for the meet.
  18. ^^^ hasn't heard a high quality, properly tuned low-power system.
  19. They are very nice amps, but I personally hate that they have such HUGE dimensions.
  20. anyways, im off to do some more work on the regal doorpods... wish me luck!
