  1. liquid rubbing alcohol is what I would use---use with q tips and cotton balls to dry it---do not get the internels too wet---dab and rub littly---should come off pretty easy. I is just burnt copper(used in lower class D amps) need anything else---just ask
  2. am I Denim? Score for Dave Question 1 E divided by I, is correct! Resistance
  3. RTA for RTA scoring only---i have used them--hell i have one---but I never use it---a RTA is used to see when you need to bump up a certain frequency---I will NEVER tune to a flat RTA sheet---I did once---can you say flat and boring music? As humans we love peaks and valleys in our music. I LOVE the hell freezes over CD from the Eagles, "Hotel California" is THE BEST!Good call on that one
  4. good ol false floor with a motorized amprack---the floor will be about 3 inches tal and it will be upside down with a panel over it(it will be vented though)on the left side of the inside of the cargo area will be the selinoid to lift the panel and lift the amp up(40lbs acctuator) it will sit at a 45degree angle for shows---the interior case will be the whole width of the Explorer and about 13 inches deep---it will have 4 fans moving as much air as possible----yeah I have thought this out.You should hear my new Brahma enclsoure idea
  5. lol, ok I love my new banner---it is a work of art---Thank you million times over Denim you rock!
  6. I got this from the12volt.com---hope it helps.
  7. http://www.the12volt.com/cgi-bin/quiz.asp here is my results http://www.the12volt.com/cgi-bin/quiz/quiza.pl put in Dave_Edwards for the screenename

Key Features Amplifier Type Multi Channels Bass Boost With Bass Boost Bridgable Not Bridgable Power Output RMS Power at 2 Ohms 50 W x 4 + 200 W x 1 RMS Power at 4 Ohms 25 W x 4 + 100 W x 1 Performance Bass Boost Frequency 40 Hz Dimensions Width 15.5 in. Depth 9.75 in. Height 2.1 in. Other Features Input Voltage 12.5 volt MOSFET amp Yes other than the size of the amp it is ok---I could think of a few other amps I would rather see you start with though. http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html the Alpine MRV-F450 has alot better control and can be had for about the same price. The active crossover network works great in the MRV-F450 also--yes it is only 12Dbs but for a 5 channel anything else is gonna cost you more. or another good amp http://www.arcaudio.com/arc/navigation/kar...ar4004prodp.htm this is a 4 channel but it is a GREAT "Starter amp" if you have alittle bit more money try the http://www.arcaudio.com/arc/navigation/cxl...xl5150prodp.htm it is a 5 channel Arc Amp and it is the top dog in 5 channels if you ask me---the best part is that you don't need a huge output of voltage from the HU to get the most from it---it maxs out @ 2.5volts(most aftermarket HU have 4 volt now a days) Then we have the personal favorite 5 channel http://incolor.inebraska.com/weisinator/co...s/pg-qx5005.htm the QX5005 from Phoenix Gold(got to love em)---for the $ i doubt you will find anything better. but these are a few of my favs and out of those----I persoanlly would take the PG or the Arc Audio CXL5150. Hope this helps,
  11. myself I use the "My Disc" and the 2000 IASCA SQ tune up disks. as for "Regular" music I use dire Straits Brother in Arms CD, Enya(for imaging), and any AC/DC for the in your face guitar riffs. I am trying to see if I can get a broad sound from just one set of alpine SPX 177a comps. with modified Crossovers in my doors and using a pillar placements for the tweets---those and the Adire Audio Kodas have some of the best off axis response I have tested in a speaker.
  12. as far as I know---there is a recone kit for any sub---but I would contact Infinity at 516-674-4INF and ask for customer support---ask them if they sell them to the public or will you have to go through a authorized distro dealer. hope this helps,
  13. can you change the Orion logo to the PG logo? Please? and it isn't working---i did the thing in my sig and it doesn't work

I learned by trial and error---I have been doing modding since 1995---just buy as many books and read them---Autosound2000 Tech Briefs---Loudspeaker design cookbook--etc.
  18. overall=Brahma or XXX depends on your needs RE XXX =clone of a Brahma with higher Fs---woop dee doo---I love there stuff also but come on---it just "looks" better than a Brahma---I see them as 1 company 2 differant names Adire=SQ RE=SPL
  19. dave_Edwards replied to djjdnap's topic in General Audio
wow---they changed a few questions around----anyway--still 100% :punch: "knocked it out"
  20. yes--it was a TRUE SUBwoofer not a woofer trying to be a subwoofer---that along with the Alumapro M16---2 of my favorite SUBwoofers---as for woofers---Brahmas are VERY hard to beat---extremely flat BL curve---and small box design---high power handling---long throw---XBL^2------can't get any better!
  21. it is from the basic car audio knowlege site made by Perry Babin--I have purchased the CD(better than the site IMO) but if you want to dig through all of it be my guest http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm
  22. Sterile? What do you mean?I guess some people like distortion in there speakers FROM THE ADIRE AUDIO SITE---- XBL2 technology was first deployed in our own Brahma series subwoofers. Besides offering extreme levels of linear excursion, this new technology greatly flattens the BL curve of loudspeakers. And a flatter BL curve means lower distortion - greater linearity. In fact, drivers using this technology typically gain 50-100% more completely flat (less than
  23. DAMN good sub there!!!
  24. that is true---but when power is applied to a subwoofer-- the voice coils are not heated as much as they are when more power is applied to them.
