  2. JBL powervalve BP1200.1 maybe? I got mine for less than 230 shipped and tested it to 1405wrms @ 1 or 2 ohm @ 14v.
  3. you can cut up a piece of one of thsoe "egg crate" things that you're supposed to put on your bed to make it more comfortable and pack it around it. Just be sure to not cover any vents on the HU.
  4. if you go to Lowes, over with all the tools they have a large compass. It's basically a stick with a pencil clamped onto one end, and a sharp nail on a sliding piece so you can adjust the diameter of the circle. Really simple to use and only cost about $4 if I remember correctly. I use it all teh time it's great. You can also use the string/nail method, but I've had less than desireable results with that. All you gotta do is adjust the nail until the distance between the tip of it and the tip of the pencil point is 5-9/16" and stick the nail where you want the center of the circle and turn it. whalla! perfect 11-1/8" circle.

Any prominent website (like mine and this one) are subject to spam spoofing. Basically the spammers use a real email address in the reply-to field to make it look like the email came from somewhere it didn't really come from to try and trick you into opening it. Check the headers of the spam email's, I'll bet it didn't really come from a SSA server (unless its an open-relay or something).
  7. that wasn't there when I asked. thanks.
  8. the word on the street is 160.9 but I think that monster can go father That's what he said it was at when the glass broke. I was jsut curious as to how much he lost thru the cracks and the flexing of the glass.
  9. good stuff. what'd you hit after the glass broke?
  10. awesome!
  11. I like "the audiophiles choice" the best, but of the two in the poll, def #2
  12. I want them! But I have to pay for my fuel cell first... then save the $270... and I'm sure someone will have bought them by the time I do all that...
  13. do the Big 3 before you do either one. There's a sticky at the top of this forum about it.
  14. I didn't mean to sound like an ass, I just don't like Kicker or Fosgate. You could get a SI D2 Mag for $300 shipped, and they don't require huge boxes. (1 - 1.5 sealed, 2 vented if I remember correctly). www.stereointegrity.com
  15. I have no opinion based on those choices. Can you list something besides Fosgate and Kicker?
  16. It's by a Chicago band called Fear of Sound (now known as A Bitter Farewell) http://www.thetrc.net/fearofsound/
  17. I'm the other MTX freak. My last 7 subs have been MTX.
  18. Thanks. I think I'll set it at 30Hz. Nothing below 30 sounds good anyways. Will I be ok with a 12db/octave rolloff, or should I go with 18?
  19. I got to check out the transient response today. It wasn't quite perfect, but it did quite well for being in a ported box. I don't listen to much music that has rapid changes in frequency like that though, so it won't much matter. SO the sub rocks. The amp rocks. I'm happy. The end.
  20. PM me a price on the wheels?
  21. Your alternator is grounded through the block (on most cars) so it's rather pointless to upgrade alt to batt if you're not going to upgrade the altenator's ground (chassis to block)
  22. How do I know what to set my SSF to? The Fs of my sub is 36.4Hz Box is 2 cubes tuned to 38Hz FS of my truck is 37Hz I can give you any T/S params you need, or you can get them from here: http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/subwo...ta_T9512-44.pdf (PDF file, 693KB) A direct answer of what to set it to is fine, but I would like to know how to calculate it, or at least a "rule of thumb" to go by when setting the cutoff frequency.
  23. Well, I hate to admit this, but I solved the SQ problem. And I also solved what turned out to be a lack in output. I decided to check everything out with the multimeter. I was getting a solid 63VAC from the amp (translates into just a tad over 1400wrms w/out clipping or distortion). So next I disconnected the speaker leads from the amp and tested them on the ohmmeter to see if I had a bad coil. Well, the first one tested to 4.1 OHM so that one is good. Test the other one and my heart hit the floor. No Load. Please oh please oh please oh please oh please tell me it just came disconnected inside the box. So I go through the trouble of taking out that 65lb sub (even managed to not crush my fingers) and lo and behold! One of the connectors is broken! Thank God. Now I just hope I didn't mess up the sub by running 700w through one coil and nothing through the other. So I make me some new connectors (the wires are NOT going ANYWHERE now) and get eveything back together (crushed a pinkie this time) and hold my breath as I crank the truck up again. BOOM BOOM BOOM swwet beautiful music trying to remove my eyeballs from their sockets. Now that I've overcame my stupidity, I can give you a real review... The fact that I thought it was loud when only 1 coil was hooked up should go to show just how loud the thing is now. I still haven't gotten to play with my EQ settings, but it sounds beautiful now. Sounds very tight on higher notes, and really QUAKES on the low notes. Overall I am seriously very very impressed with this sub, and give it an A+++++ Well worth what I paid for it. Now I just need to do the Big 3 so my truck will stop trying to shut off every time the bass drops. I will post more once I get to really fine tune my EQ and check out the transient response and stuff. I couldn't find my Drama - Right, Left cd...
  24. if it were burnt you should get some sort of a reading. but from what i can tell it's just an open circuit.
