The H701 has been known to hiss when the RCA input is used. I don't have any noise, but I used the toslink. Maybe have a look around DIYMA to see if anyone has a fix.

No, it is completely INLINE with physics. It really does matter.... since the amplifier is only powering each driver over their crossover chosen bandwidth, the power is the same on both driver, unless there is a very large overlapping of crossover points (which shouldn't happen). Acidburn described it right.
