  1. ok, i think i figured up that with the sub and port displacement that the box will be about 2.145ft^3 and with a 22.75" port, will be tuned to 33.37 (according to WinISD). now if i take an inch off the height of the box, i get a net volume of 1.97ft^3 and with a 22.75" port i get a tuning of 34.82. i like the first box, will it work good for daily driver street bump? will it have good SQ and be able to hit all the double bass kicks?
  2. ok, had a guy that helped me with the design, name is Tempe, dunno if you guys know him around here, but here is what he designed, and i had to draw it out, cuz i have to see it before i build it. just wanted to check and make sure everything looks right....its a crappy paint drawing, i know, but thats all i could get to work right. http://h1.ripway.com/Bobby_7/BOX2.JPG it is supposed to be 2 cubes tuned to 32Hz. in WinISD, im getting that with that setup it would be tuned to like 35Hz, but i know WinISD sux compared to others and Tempe is probably right. i figured up the internal volume size and it comes up like 2.4ft^3, the sub and port wouldnt take up that much room would it? either way, is this enclosure gonna work well? sub will be facing upwards and port will be towards the rear of the car.
  3. i dont see any reason why you couldn't. you could wire it to 1 ohm and get 2000 watts. i dont really know any specs on the team rf subs or what voice coil configuration you have though. there is nothing wrong with underpowering a sub. another option, unless you must only have RF stuff, you can probably find an amp equivalent to the T30001bd for a little less.
  4. i was looking around at profile's site and looking thru their refurbished amps. are these amps worth buying? not looking at buying one right now, but i had thought about getting a few two chaneel amps, bridging both, and hooking them up to my sub. thought about getting a third and powering my front speakers. that would be like $100 ish for 3 amps....can't beat that. Are there any other manufacturer's website's that sell refurbs?? anyone had any experience with them?
  5. i've got one....... when you choose researching a new setup over watching a good porn.... its sad really
  6. kind of off topic, but i was checking out the 6 1/2" subwoofer they have, and damn, it has an 11.5 mm xmax! i was quite impressed. so is tang band a pretty good company?? i thought about getting some of their woofers and tweeters, they are pretty cheap...
  7. Theater Research is a known "white van" speaker company... http://www.crimes-of-persuasion.com/Crimes...eaker_scams.htm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> internet sarcasm is hard to see...
  8. ALWAYS NAY-SAYING! for all we know those are the highest class woofers out there....they just happen to like to make their stuff pretty too
  9. ok, that helped a lot mrray haven't quite made my desicion yet but i am going to wait it out and try to get some RL-i's. i have always wanted some soundsplinters since i heard about em... thanks for the help
  10. i understand what you are saying with the first statement, but that is what the specs of the amp shows, its an audiobahn so....... lastly, i read on some guys reveiw of a sub that he had his system wired at some shop and when he looked at it, it was wired to 4 ohms. so he re-wired it to 2 ohms and it hit a lot harder.........i dont think they guy knows what he was talking about.........but is that even possible? also, does wiring subs to 2 ohms cause for more of a draw on your battery and stuff, compared to 4 ohms? like make your headlights flash more and stuff?
  11. well if i were to get one RL-i i would have to go to an audio shop and have a box built, would not be prefab. if you were referring to my original post about the Type R, i guess i am assuming that the box that the Type R comes in is tuned to the sub's specifications, seeing as how Alpine makes the box and sells it with their own sub. would that box not be tuned correctly?
  12. how much of a difference are we talking as far as sounding better? the type-r is pretty good for SQ/LSQ isn't it? i have never heard the RL-i so it is a little hard to compare. i guess i am also looking at i can get the type r sub and a nice box that is tuned correctly for less than the RL-i, and it would be easier than driving at least an hour away to go to my nearest audio shop and having a box built. i guess what i am asking, will getting the RL-i be worth the extra money and effort than just buying the type r?
  13. no i have never heard treo's but i have heard good reviews. i have never heard any soundsplinter stuff either, so i guess im just kinda going on a guess and all the reviews. what do you mean by output drop? so you think one RL-i ported would be better than one Type-R 12" ported?
  14. if i were to get the 10's, they would stay in my prefab box for a while till i got around to building a box for them. i wouldnt go ported if i went with the 10's, i would stay sealed. also, i dont plan on upgrading my amp for a long while, so will be stuck with this amp for a while. wouldn't it be better with one 12" because this amp will put out 400wx1 rather than 100wx2 @ 4 ohms or 200x2 @ 2 ohms. i dont know if the subs are 2 ohm stable. lastly, this will be my third setup, and my two previous setup's have been 2 10"s. i kinda feel like going with 1 12" just to do something different i guess. would i be dumb to go to 1 12" when i have had 2 10's?
  15. http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_produc...s.jsp?cid=16975 i am working on saving up some money for a new setup. i know i have posted here before looking for subs and here i am, still looking, sorry. i am very indecisive anyways, i think i have brought my decision down to getting one 12". considering ported but if i go sealed i can make the box myself and it would be cheaper. i am really liking this setup above, i have been looking at type R's and it is ported and most tuned correctly. only problem is i cant find any info on it. cant find what it is tuned to or anything. i am going for SQ/LSQ. i guess i will throw in some of the other choices i have been looking at......... 1 RL-P 12
  16. are there many songs on there, i am looking to D/L a less known band and i cant seem to find them, could i google it and come up with anything?
  17. i have been told about these .torrent files but i dont quite understand them. can anyone explain the whole process to me??
  18. just went to a concert last nite and it was awesome. hawthorne heights, silverstein, bayside, and aiden. i found out that bands performances at festivals are worse than when they are in a small club like i was in. they were soo much better than at warped tour. silverstein and aiden were freakin awesome, hawthorne was a lot better than warped, they are good, but i dont care a lot for their music, dont think im some emo kid.
  19. also, i was feeling the cone and i noticed the bottom side of the surround has like a break ( dunno if thats the right word ) in it. it is not as strong as the rest of the surround. also, to the get the speaker to work right, you have to push on the bottom side of the cone.
  20. soo not too long ago i bought some logitech speakers for my computer. well just yesterday i was listnin to some music and right speaker was really staticy. you can still hear the music but every note that the speaker its, you can hear static too. i was messing with it and it you just place a finger on the cone while its playing, the static is gone...what is the deal?
  21. i know a kid that has 2 12" T1's in a ported box in his truck. they are pretty dang loud, decent SQ, i would own them. dont know bout the T2's tho.
  22. DAMN.....simply amazing. i wish i could have one.....
  23. i just got a new phone finally. its a LG VX5200. i was just wondering if there was any way that i could make my own ringtones using the music i have on my computer. i hope, i dont really want to pay $3.00 for a 30 second ringtone.
  24. alright, i guess i will just go with my first instinct and go with the Rl-i. im 900% sure i will be happy with it. thanks for all the help. also i will be running the sub at 2 ohms since it is dual 4 ohms, is that ok? anything else i need to know? what is the best sealed size for that amount of power? i was gonna go with about .6 ft^3
  25. so i was searchin around on another forum i go to and i found where dayton just released a new driver. it is their reference series. well recently i had planned on buying a RL-p but i realized i couldnt afford it. so then i decided on an RL-i 10, but now for about $50 less i can get one of these daytona drivers. here is the link: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-464 i was just curious if i would be happy with one of these. i plan on gettin 1 10" whether i go with the dayton or the Rl-i and i will be giving it 400 watts. i mainly want SQ, i want to hit every note, hit it hard, and hit low, loudness isnt much of a factor. i would be perfectly happy with 120-130ish dB's. any help or advice is appreciated. thanks
