Depends on the load presented to the 3000D's. Take a look in the Sundown forums for voltage draw.

Why not just seal the Mag? It'll have more output sealed than two Type-R 12's sealed will.
Why a pair of 12's? Have you bought an amp yet? What space are you working with? What are your listening preferences? Do you like SPL or SQ?
soo maybe I missed it.. but what is final mount depth? And I'm in for two.
Why would you step down to Type-R's over the Mag? Why not try a new box or a new amp first?
The DMM won't show the clipping, it'll still measure voltage fine. You should be able to hear clipping, unless you've got ears with downs syndrome.
The spider on the ICON loosens up quite a bit. Then it gets really loud and low. Either one will be ok with that power as long as you don't clip it.
You can't wire a DVC1 ohm sub to 1 ohm.
Free air? You can't compare them.
What size sub? BL's come in many sizes. Go measure your trunk and tell us what space you have to work with?
