i don't think they are ugly... two, i don't see where they are overpriced compared to other namebrand amps...pdx4-150=$800 at a local shop, seen it for as high as $1100 online...pdx 1-1000= $1000 at a local shop, seen as high as $1200 online and they give you what?? small footprint? and yeah, i'm picking on alpine a bit, but it's just for comparision.... yeah, there are good amps out there cheaper, but some of those cheaper amps aren't going to compare quality wise. if they fit your budget, your power demands, are aesthicitly (spell?) pleasing and it's a brand you want...go for it. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

maybe..but we had a run of cars at work where (on high amps only) the rcas and power cbles ran side by side..we get noise...move the power cable, or the rcas, noise goes away. i think some of it has to do with the quality of the rcas...maybe not. but it definitely happened, and moving either wire cured it. btw, that's using memphis rcas.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

cb..that's how we made our flares..a negative mold... it's long since found the trash can as the 8" ports were too much, ie; no gain at all over the 4" he currently uses. then again, he runs a pair of tens.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i've done this is a mustang...(newer body style, os it's a truck car) and it sounded beautiful and got very loud (sub up, port loading into the rear wall) it was a 12" mtx 7500 and a rf 800.2..... teh only sq loss would be if the port was too small and you ended up with port noise. i've never noticed any difference in sq no matter which plane the port was on compared to the sub... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i'm assuming your box is 11.5 tall? if so, run your port that direction, ie; 4" wide, 9.5" tall and the length you mentioned above... with a port like that, i too, think you'll end up with noise. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
