i dunno..i'm running mine in .17ft^3 sealed off <300wrms in house and it's absolutely beautiful. blends wonderfully with the pair of dayton alum 7's and hifi textile dome tweets in .66ft^# tuned to 40hz gets nice and low and plenty damn loud too! it's in a room roughly 12 x 10 wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the idea is more linear travel...by having the spiders (in the case of the LVS, a double spider up top with a single spider down low) that far apart the theory is that the sub can only move in a linear fashion as there is no "pivot" point that can be created by having all the spiders together. the double basket is so the former can be long enough to support such a build. in the case of the LVS it is more gimmick as function. while they do sound good and get loud, you can get the mojo 15 to sound just as good, get louder, handle more power and pay half as much. like ryan stated, it's more "my subwoofer is bigger then yours". IMO and from my experience, nothing gained except having to build a much deeper box. (the LVS mounting depth is almost 12") wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
