1968 camaro
here it is. after about an hour we located the problem. teh starter wire had laid up next to the long tube tri-y headers and melted, causing it to short out. here's a car made by an audio shop, pretty good install, some clearance issues, looked over by several mechanics, and all that is wrong with it was the starter wire...lol....oh well...we got paid for the repaires.. enjoy the pics.... one the sexiest amps of all time and there ya have it. the best part of this car, other then the crown, is the airbrushed chrome trim. it's absolutely beautiful. but there are some issues with the car. one airline leaks a bit, there is some rust starting to bubble up under the black just at the bottom of the rear window, the dash has to chips that were touched up poorly, the aforementioned clearance problems and the doors sag enough that the airbrushed trim doesn't line up anymore. the owner thinks this car will bring $80k at barret-jackson. when some people dream, they dream big!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
the worse thing about black (any dark color, as you know, will draw heat) is that it will show any and all inperfections in the body work. you have to "stick" the body work and primer coat to make it as flat as possible and then black is the most beautiful color ever laid on a car. youjust have to put more effort into it. but the feiro gt has one of the slickest looking bodies of any small sports car. it deserves to be black! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
feiro gt's are a blast to drive..once you figure out the gas pedal is kinda hidden behind the center console. with drag radials and jsut a lil more hp, i honestly believe a feiro gt can lift the front wheels. the gt i drove was bone stock and at every stoplight it felt like it wanted to raise them! and go black matt! don't do maroon. btw, why fix any panels? jsut replace them. they can't be that expensive. and then you have a great surface to work with to lay down the black! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the NEW FOR 06 kicker CSX is indeed a L7 motor with a compvr cone, basiclly. but like i just mentioned, it's new for this year. and head to head with an 06 L7, it's not as loud. it has the same throw with less cone area. 4 15" L7's would be intense!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

12 RE SE VS 12 RL-p
instead of completely removing the board, remove just eh center section, say within an inch all the way around. in that way you increase volume (a smidge), don't affect structral integrity as much and you can still ahd the polyfill mike suggested. i think you'll enjoy the return!! the rl-p, iME, loves 1.25ft^3 sealed, absloutely loves it!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

"dry xbl^2" as in being so clean as to not have the "warmth" that most typical drivers have from the distortion inherient in their design. personally, it wasn't so much that as that the rl-p jsut flat out dropped lower, was just as crisp and fast and almost as loud for less money. and the rl-p isn't as box picky. and tom, your right, the new XXX is SG technology, not xbl^2. if believe it's a version of sorts of LMS (they can't use LMT anymore) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

got decent news yesterday.. teh harley place got my frame in!! so work can start on getting the scooter back. still no timeframe as to when i'll get her, but at least there will be progress. it's been 8 weeks and two days since i dropped her off. 58 days of watching other people ride. two months of listening to other scoots roaring down the road. 1392 hours of whining that i want to ride!!! i don't know who will be happier, the wife or me. i'm sure she'll be glad to hear the ripsaws instead of my mouth...lol..i know i will!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I Think My SQ will be improving
for the NF preouts that might be correct, i never tested them. but it clips at 69 (nice number,eh?) if you use the highlevel outputs. 1kz tone, no scope. but you could hear the difference..lol.... what i did, since i didn't amp my highs, turned up the volume to 68 (just before it would clip the highs), turned the NF up to 16 and then set my amplifier. if he amps the highs and uses the preouts for the front and rear, i don't have any idea where it will clip. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i beg to differ. a square cone can sound just as good, if not better then any round sub. it's all about the install. but squares get loud so easily, people forget and most don't even worry about sounding good. they throw them in big ported box and let them wang. the new xxx 18 against the solo x 18? i'd like to see that. the added throw of the xxx would help offset the cone advantage of the s18x. it would be a fun one to play around with. and after my experience with the old skool xxx, i won't believe any hype about the new one till i hear it for myself. teh rl-s 15 would be an awesome choice. and imagine an rl-s 18? OMG, that would be the bomb! 18's FTW!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

SX vs L7
yet the rl-p's do indeed get loud. they would be an awesome choice, if you are geared more at the sq side. i don't believe they will hang with the L7 or sx for overall output, but they will be close and they will sound better in just about any install. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Memphis vs UsAmps
memphis and crossfire = same amplifiers? which memphis against the merlin? i'd love to be able to do that. i can get just about any memphis amp i want, so which is compareable? maybe i'm in the mood to change. i haven't used an US Amp since my us-50. but i've never had an issue with any memphis amp either. i've ran pr's to the mclass and had nothing but good power and good luck with them. yet i know the quality of US, so this is an interesting subject. can't wait to read more! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Help me choose a cheap CD player...
the shop i work at carries both clarion and panasonic, as well as sony. we tend to have more problems withthe upper end screens then we do with the lower level units. that said, i'd use panasonic and sony over clarion in that price range as you get more features for your money. as you move up the model lines, it evens out. i also second what ryan mentioned. and a clarion will once again find it's way into my truck. the dmx955mc ( i believe that's the model number) will have a home in my silverado within a week. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
