  1. cb..the car will get brown breaded..lol...the brand the shop carries... m5...don't i know it..lol... thanks for the comments so far... here's a few pics of a trial fit and a shot of the ports thru the 6x9 holes.... more later as i continue working on it whilest not working on something else...lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  2. why? Sony puts spyware on their audio CD's (and tried to lie about it); even if you say no, it still load's itself deep into Windows. The fix opens up you computer for attacks. Now, I never was a big fan of Sony anyway, but there's sure as hell nothing great about Sony ever since they released the Xplode series... I'll stick with a factory radio (with a L.O.C. and line driver) before I would use a Sony Xplode radio... lol... ok, well, at least u have a reason. but the upper level sony's...starting with the 605x, are definitely worth a look. i'm seriously looking at the 805...BUT the 2006 clarion 755 is a sweet looking lil bastage too! not too mention i get a deal on either one..lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  3. ask dave_edwards..... or get it to the shop u bought it from. there is a place that people here recommend for that but i don't recall the name....maybeask tirefryr, he's made mention of them. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  4. yep..port that sucker!!! a 12" rl-p in about 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz (or ask denim how one sounds in 28hz) off 600wrms will get silly loud and sound awesome doing it!! if that doesn't rattle ur brains, get the 15. basiclly the same size sealed box as a ported 12".. btw..the 2 id's will need roughly twice the box that u have now....so if space is an issue.... same with the 3 AA 10's... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  5. One thing to remember.....anybody who uses XBL^2 likely has a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with Adire and/or their buildhouse, and the company using it is not required to disclose/advertise their useage of XBL^2 if they do not want to. Which means.....there may be far more XBL^2 drivers on the market than you know about, simply because 1) Dan/Adire/the buildhouse cannot disclose who and what companies are using the technology, and 2) the company using the technology isn't promoting/advertising their useage of the technology. Dan has made mention many times in the past that there are far more XBL^2 drivers out on the market (car audio and home audio) than we realize. well, that's what i was missing...lol.. but still yet, IMO, xbl^2 isn't all that's it's cracked up to be. on paper, maybe. but in real world, with real ears, it's not all that. i'm not trying to say any other topology is better, but IME, there are other very well built subs that can compete. like the man ramos has said...85% install, 10% equipment and 5% beer. the wrong install and xbl^2 falls flat just like everything else. but then again, what do i know??? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  6. look for james herron and the rest of team sweep. james just painted hi sexplorer..blue over silver with orange thru the middle...u won't miss it. he's in street a..kevin is in street c...greg, i can't remember, but his explorer is on 22's. anyway, call james saggy and thank him for taking the shop's big crimpers..lol....tell him kent said wassup. and good luck man!! who knows, maybe everyone is down a little (saving it for WF). wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  7. i signed up for the mouse and the auger bit...lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. pics of 71 imp install vladd...the sony cdx805x ( i believe is the model number) is the one u want...u have a 7 band eq PER speaker. not to mention TA, DSO and some other technical goodie for sq. i can get ya a price if ya want. i'm thinking about puitting one in the silverado. and i gotz to go to work... ryan...i need a 5spd tranny for my bro's stang.....got any hookups? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  9. here's some pics of the 1971 impala install i'm working on (in between all the other stuff..lol) first the car... now the box build up. it's bandpass. roughly 2ft^3 sealed and 2.75ft^3 ported, two 2" x 14" ports 11" long. rough bandpass figures are 35hz thru 95hz or so. honestly have no clue, it's for a 15" treo ss, and it's my first bandpass build for anything other then flat out spl. my home away from home... the brace and parts..... and the build up...the sealed part is "stepped" to get the need volume... pretty much finished the box...here's a side shot and a look inside the beast. i'll take some more as the install progresses... yeah, it's alot of pics, but what the hey?! you guys are worth it..lol... i have about 10 hours in that box so far, with design and build time. it's a pain in the ass, but it sure looks good..lol....i hope it sounds good. btw, the ports will fire up thru the little 90* notch in the top right of the box in that side pic. i'll have pics of those later. enjoy...and comments/ questions are welcome. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. nah..lol.. just been busy as hell at work...lots of custom crap. literally. guys who want glory, but don't want to spend the money for it. like the el camino i finished yesterday..yay..all sony.except the h/u, that was kenwood. though in all honesty, it didn't sound bad, but didn't get loud at all..even tuned to 40hz (pair of the red 10's, each in it's own 1ft^3 box, 3" round port)..pics? hell no..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. i think a lot of us are waiting to find suitable plans to build such an enclosure I've got plans for a pair of 8's in a tline modeled after my ADS 3 series. They have a higher fs so the plans wouldn't work. I'd draw up some plans for a single RLP 8 if ya all want, prob something like the photos I posted already. I like the driver to fire out of the same side as the port. But as far as getting it underneath a seat with lots of curves and stuff that will be really hard to plan in advance. I think a fiberglass TL under a seat would be super sick. I've seen plans for 8 8's in a tl that fits into an extended cab truck! that would be sweet. hook me up with the plans, please!! i'm extremely anxious to get this done...be it FG or mdf...i just need plans..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  12. all the above advise is the right advise...but basiclly... maybe add in memphis amps rock! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  13. probably more in the neighborhood of 500wrms.... 2500 X 1 @ 1ohm 1700 x 1 @ 2ohm 1200 x 1 @ 4ohm but still very, very impressive for a single 8 at that tuning....btw, what vehicle? and legal or outlaw? tl? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  14. at least dan said it would be biased...lol... but that thread made sense. my thoughts are this, and they might well be irrelevant....if xbl^2 is so great, or even SC, why is it the only major sub company using any of the three topologies is (will be) using LMT? or is there something out there that i'm missing? that is a question that i have yet to see answered. all the hype over the brahma and old xxx, yet ascendent was the only other company i've heard of to use xbl^2..or am i wrong? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. doesn't look to bad....$99 for a 300wrms 8 isn't bad either. i don't like that they don't have the 8's t/s parameters up though. but that's just nick-picking..lol... what size box/tuning/port area did you build? and glad to have ya here!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  16. why? and i'm sure there is a compareable alpine. which would be a good choice! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  17. if ur looking for vibration resistant..look a lil higher up the sony food chain. that exact model is in our dodge ram dually quad cab shop truck....4 10" memphis pr's off a pr1000d..6 m class 6.5 coaxils off some pr 4 channel...and if u crank it...it skips. now that vintage dodge truck, 2000 model, is known for having shaky dashes, so that is part of it...but still yet, untill u get into sony's higher end, they could very well skip a beat. my vote is alpine. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  18. FTW!! audiocontrol is hard to beat! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  19. most blue's have regular (olde style) top mount terminals with the wing nut terminals attached. so as long as you can use top mount, u'll need the side post to top mount adapters, u'll be fine... and liek everyone has stated.. DO IT!!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  20. here it is..the start of my nightmares..lol... first, the car, it's trunk and rear deck.... and now, the build of the bandpass nightmare going in it..... the brace and ports (various other parts) and a view of my home away from home... and now some of the construction.....it will house a 15" treo ss... and a finished side shot and a look into the belly of a beast.... there is about 8.5 hours in that build, definitely the hardest box build i've done to date. even fiberglass is easier, which i suggested, but budget wouldn't allow. for those wondering, the ports will fire up into the rear deck outa that 90* notched area. i'll take pics of them routed out today, and trial fitted. enjoy! any questions, comments welcome! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  21. nice..lol... u'll hit it when u get back! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  22. and i'm uploading pics of the imp bandpass box build now.... devill...u won't be in iraq forever...make sure u get that 3some..lol... today i get to start on imp trim panels...yay! fool wants gold carpet...oh well, his money. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  23. yet, u were the one looking for a big one....lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  24. Kent, what time is a good time to call you? I need to converse with you my friend. anytime bro, anytime! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  25. i like the three way idea...with some decent power on them. i'd also suggest silk tweeters if ur not wanting harsh. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
