RL-s early review
Would you comment on how it compares and does not compare to a RL-p. ok... sound quality....right up there with the best. both subs. if i had to pick a winner, i think it would be the rl-p. but remember, i have more time with the rl-p. it's a bit crisper, and IMO, does a slightly better job up high (aroudn the 80hz mark). but again, the rl-s wasn't in what would be deemed an optimum enclosure. both are excellent subs, both get real low, the rl-s is a touch slower in the transistions, but is cleaner then the rl-p. IMO, the rl-s is definitely for the true audiophile. it's that clean. at all volumes.. output.....well, i haven't had a chance to meter my rl-p in the same enclosure yet. the rl-s did a wonderful job on the meter. teh rl-p sounds a bit louder, but until i mic them, i'll withhold any actual statements. what i will say is this, off 1200wrms, they both get loud...lol. power handling.....the rl-s wins here. while i never gave it more then ~1200wrms, i'd be of the opinion that it could handle quite a bit more. it doesn't need anymore to reach xmax, i don't believe. but would handle it. the rl-p is at it's highest mechanical limit with 1200, at least in this enclosure. but then again, it's only rated for 500...and it certainly doesn't need 1200 to do what it does best! all in all....i believe the rl-p is still my favorite. while not quite in the same league as the rl-s, it's certainly no slouch. maybe it's because i'm used to that inheirent amount of distortion most subs introduce, gives me that "warm" feeling. i don't know. but while the rl-s is loud, low and clean, it just seems to be missing something to my ears. like it's too clean. but then again, i'm a basshead, not a squeer.. i can't wait for jelly's review. he's owned rl-p's. be nice to see what he has to say. i do know this, u can't go wrong with either in ur system!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

personally, i dislike the Ti's.. 1) while every install i've heard with them was loud, the majority sounded like ass. 2) two people i know who run them have blown them on several occasions. one guy is on his third set of 15" while the other guy is on his second set of 12's. both in properly designed enclosures (i designed and built the box for the 12's, it actually beat me in the last comp i was in), both setups powered by a pair of memphis 1500d's. but that's just what i've seen by them. personally, i would go crystal. or mag. or rl-s. then again, u might very well buy one and never, ever have an issue with it. but i still wanted to throw my two centz in, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP

i'm out as well.... i got an appointment with the wifey..hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- RL-s early review
those numbers are indeed with the factory "hold-back". the RL-s did 137.9 legal on a TL off a factory GM head unit. (well, it did have help from the orion 2500d wired at 3.5ohm nominal). james, as in defending street a world champ (though he's having a few issues as of right now, lol) thought with a lil tweaking, we could have gotten a 140 with the setup as is. but i was beyond pleased with the 137.9. psycho, only news is the rl-s is on it's way to jellyfish to play with. the rl-s is one monster of a sub. loud, low and clean. it's jsut simply one of the best, if not the best, sub i have ever had the pleasure of listening too. even in a box considered too small, by parameters, it is one awesome machine! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP
james..it's way past time to man up...quit arguing and put ur foot down. even if it's too the point of telling her," it's ur friends or it's me, but someone is leaving." and if it's u. fine. go whereever u need to to get away. and stay away. let her come to u. and if she doesn't, oh well, doesn't sound like to big of a loss. i understand if u don't want to do this, but IMO, it's the only way to go. my wife and i went thru a stage where i was more married to her family then her. all it took was me telling her to choose them or me. and i moved out. it took little more then a week (i made sure i was seen out having fun with the guys, somewhat chasing skirts) and her and i moved away from all of them. our relationship has never been better or stronger. good luck bro, u deserve some! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP

good morning jsutin, i really like the jntaR badge..lol..that is too cool u should make one for me with the second R like that..hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- rls pics
going by what happened with the 12...i'd say an enclosure in the 5.5-6ft^3 range would be ideal. i'd also suggest about 60in^2 of port. and if ur wanting ultimate destruction, tune about 25hz. but this is for ur van. in a smaller vehicle, a 4ft^3, tuned about 32hz enclosure would probably be mind numbing, lol. sealed, no less then 3ft^3, probably suggest in the 3.5ft^3 range. 4ft^3 would probably be ideal in ur van. and u've got plenty of power! u need one, lol, bad! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP
sad news... i have to ship the rl-s off tomorrow to jellyfish...i am already crying... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP
jack..it is indeed a fishman grille..and screw you...lol..i like it...hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Help in a Begginer system
head unit preouts are a way to provide signal from the head unit to an amplifier via rcas. they are called preout because the signal is sent without any head unit amplification to provide a signal with as little distortion as possibe. also, for $130, i second jmac's recommendation of just upgrading your factory speakers to something better. with some smart shopping, $130 should allow you to replace both front and rear with at least a decent set of coaxils. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP
howdy folks.. yay!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- new box *pics*
i like the "build my enclosure on your dime" attitude!! i wish i could do that, but i'd have to get goverment permission to use power tools where i work. but it's looking good! what are the chambers tuned too? it looks like your middle chamber is going to be tuned extremely high... and what's the final tuning? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Welcome to the IHoP
