first, try the subs without the fill....they will get lowlow in less then what u have planned. if u don't like them without, add some. like u said, the stuff is cheap. second, ur vehicle is going to hate u for running at .5ohm daily, trust me, unless u have some serious upgrades...and i mean more then just the big three...i have a redtop, upgraded alternator and the big three and i still get big voltage drops.. third, going by that link, the amp doesn't produce anymore power at .5 ohm then it does at 2 ohm...(1100wrms)..i'd try wiring for 2 ohm first (series the coils, parallel the subs). u'll get plenty of output that way... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ya know..ur comparing a 15 to a 12....which do u think will be louder? rl-p's are very efficient drivers, and extremely compareable to jl's top products. i would lay money that if u built the proper enclosure for both, the rl-p would indeed be louder...of course, the rl-p having the extra displacement helps quite a bit. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

x2...the salesman (or majority of) are hoping the potential customer knows nothing of electronics or what they are selling. in this way, they can push "the magic box" that will eliminate all noise from ur system. for a small fee of course..lol. most of us here can go into most shops and teach the salesman a thing or two (i'm sure we've all gone into BB and told teh salesguy we want to hit 150db with a $500 budget and keep the system under the back seat of their truck, just for giggles, and the saleguy actually try to sell u something, telling u he knows for a fact it'll do it) but that's what research is for. that's how we 've learned, along with trial and error. alot of things in audio is subjective, SQ, brand preference, wanted output, yada,yada, yada......but what is constant is the science behind the products we buy. products constantly pushing the envelope of what we want and what we get for our dollar. and i'm done rambling this morning..way too early... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

smooth as in smooth curve, or as in flat? smooth curve, yes, i think that can be achieved with trial and error..and possibly a nice box modeling program... flat, i don't thinks so. the heat generated by the sub and the damping of the box/suspension will keep it from ever being flat. unless a person could design a varible enclosure that shifts size as heat is generated to compensate....or something..lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

power is power..a watt is a watt...and i honestly don't believe a person can tell a difference in them. now, with all the extra's, an amp can indeed be made to sound better, and appear to be a better value for the money. and ryan, wouldn't u try to set the test up so u wouldn't lose $10k? but in all honesty, the way i read the challange, the amps would be identically gain match and settings all flat. they would be set up so that they put out as close to the same power as can be done. so unless i'm missing somethin, how is that stacking the deck? i think the article is spot on. while i'll agree there might indeed be an exception, someone with super sensitive ears or whatever, for 99% of the population, that article is spot on. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

they do indeed sound really nice. and steve, they aren't the entry level..lol...the pr's are..the mclass use the same basket/motor, but different suspension and cone. they are considered the mid level sub, but i have no clue why. the pr's are sweet too..just like that lil dog pictured. 4 12's, american bass power (aprox 2kw) in an 2000 olds bravada = 147.5 outlaw on the tl.....hehe..freaked a bunch of ppl out.
