I don't remember what they were ... were yours 8's or 6.5's? I can't remember - I think that's what I'm getting mixed up on. - Steve mine, now my bro-in-law's, were indeed punch hx2 8's. rated 400wrms each, they gobbled up well over 500wrms each and in a 1.75ft^3 enclosure, 4" rd port tuned to 45hz, and a memphis 1000d pushing them...i got a best of 139.6 on a AC mic in a full size x-cab ram. they are now being pushed by that same amp,and same enclosure, in a full size x-cab silverado. awesome lil subs... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the only thing routed is the port opening... and it was done with a flush bit..after drilling a pilot hole... of course, all edges are rounded off, including the port ends internally. the sub opening is cut with jigsaw...mad skillz i tell ya!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

does cdt make coaxils? if so, i'd match the comps and get a pair of ef coaxes... sounds like a killer first system so far!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

worse thing, sliced my finger putting brownbread on the rear deck of a 98 cobra. it was up unde rthe glass, so i couldn't use the roller. i ran my hand along the edge...tada...2 butterfly stitches to close the gash.. chalk that one up to duhhhhhhhhhhhh!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the power acoustic a2400db is supposed to have the same board as the planetaudio 1200...so yeah they are indeed decent amps.....probably equal to the hifonics. not quite as good as the orion or directed probably, but really close, as the planet audio is considered their equal. IMO, u wouldn't go wrong buying any of those listed. and due to ur budget and wanting stuff to match, the power acoustik's would be hard to beat, the hifonics coming the closest. and not wanting to upgrade later makes perfect sense, however, as most here will tell u..ur first system hardly ever lasts as u will always want more... but i think u're off to a good start... now start buying so u can take pics!!! and update!!!! we are an impatient lot!!!! hehehhahhhhahehahehaha wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i've never heard re comps..so i can't really help. i suggested them because u said u really wanted the re subs. also, u want to match amps, so why not speakers..lol? anyway, i've read that they are indeed a decent set and u should be happy with them. could u do better for the money? well, there is always a better deal around somewhere..but it's what makes u happy that's important. power acoustik a2400db...$330...same amp steve has pushing his uberwoofer power acoustic a520-2hp...$80...matching high amp..rated 120wrmsx2@4ohm subtract ur componets, both amps from the $740 u had left...u now have $165 to spend on box, wiring, dahs kit and harnesses. this way get's u the subs and h/u u want, a matching pair of amps and even matches ur comps to ur subs. the power acoustik amps are decent amps as well.....ask steve(ss3079).... if the above sub amp is too much [email protected] one still matches, is only [email protected] is $30 cheaper to help with shipping. power acoustik a1800db....$300 and it's only 1400wrms@1ohm... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

why not the RE re componets? i dunno how much they are, but since ur set on the re subs..match them with the componets(price willing). as to the amps.....the two i listed(the mtx) above can be had just about anywhere for close to those prices.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well, i think mike recommends something like 20in^2 of port and ur at (really close) 17in^2..so there might be a touch of noise...but i doubt it would be anything u would hear. 1.75ft^3 per sub? that's pretty big for a daily and 10's. the rl-i's would more then likely live happily in there, especially sending them the 300-400wrms u amp will send each sub. i'd vote that u get them...u'll love them! and at $292 for a pair, their not what i would call expensive. go for it dude!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

U TELLIN IT LIKE IT IS!! again, very sound advice. i matched amps in my projected system becuz most people do, but it isn't a set in stone rule. or is it absolutely necessary. but do it if that is what will make u happy. why not ebay? just curious, no big deal......i'll look up some other stuff if u're still undecided tomorrow. and the soundsplinters are awesome subs...i run a single 12" rl-p in my wife's car, and as most people here will tell u, i can't say enuff good things about them. one more thing.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

a pair will handle that amp fairly easily, mike is throwing 3000wrms at a pair of rl-i's. of course enclosure is everything. mike has recommended a vented design for the rl-i's, but i don't recall what it was. the 1.75ft^3 was for both subs? if so, i don't think u'll have any problem running the rl-i's. email [email protected] with the complete dimensions of ur enclosure(if he doesn't get here in time), include port area as well. he'll be able to better answer the question. but from my experience, i think a pair of th rl-i's would indeed be a great choice to replace the cv's...i once blew a pair of cv vegad4's immediately after they were installed. great sounding, not the loudest and in my experience, not reliable. the sounsplinter's on the other hand.....low, loud and clean. awesome subs!! hope that helps a little... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

steve....rf had 6" hx2's?? petey......focal has some mean 5.25" subs. they are fairly expensive, but they do get loud. kicker makes the ssmb 6.5". technically a midbass, but if x-overed correctly and used with a subsonic filter, they do a good job of adding lowend. i know of a pair of ssmb 6.5's old nib that can be had fairly cheap(he also has the new model)..and he has the last known nib(that's what i'm told) pair of ssmb 8's. either would be a good choice.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
