  1. good job!! man, i want a crx... i hope that they aren't using the new termlab today.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  2. ok Screws equal better? You just said you only have to clamp. So why predrill and then screw and spend money on screws when you can just staple? And yes you can send staples threw 1". I have done it. I Run 120 psi into my gun that shoots up to 1 3/4 staples. And it sinks them. So now why are screws better? I think will already covered all the bases here but for your benefit, i'll do it again. 1. I don't have a pnumatic staple gun. Even if i did, i'd still probably use the screws for the simple fact that I like the way it looks and when building a custom product for a customer, speed isn't a high priority. I'm not working on an assembly line here and if it takes me an extra half hour to screw the damn thing together, so be it. I'd probably just use that extra half hour for cigarette smoking and beer drinking anyway. 2. In my experience with pnumatic staplers, its easier even for a pro to split the wood. you can put a screw in slowly if it's close to an edge to avoid splitting or draw it back out halfway thru if it acts like its gonna split. you have no such luxury with a 120PSI pnumatic stapler. you either get it right the first time or cut a new piece of wood. when i screw boxes together, i can also testfit the pieces before I glue them together, then back the screws out and apply the glue one piece at a time to avoid using clamps all together. 3. I like screws better. Neener neener neener. you are right but money is time and time is in efficency. also you dont have to staple so close to the edges. And for a custom box who wants to see the screws anyway? carpet.....it covers the screws..hehe but for real...i'm with gnome here...it may take longer, but screws (with a good glue) just give a person the impression that they won't fail. whereas staples(brads, whatever) even with a glue, just don't seem as sturdy...and after a while, will fatigue enough to let ur box fall apart. to peavybassist....i won't just glue a box together for anything more then 8's, unless u aren't sending any power. most glue manufactorers even say so right on the bottle and i gotta get gnome's back on something else....the prefit before glue.....when using screws u have that luxury, and it helps to make sure u cut everything right the first time... well, that's my two centz....hehe...now we need some pics of some glue and screws..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  3. for those in the cape giardeau, mo area...tonite(22nd) @6pm and tomorrow(23rd)@ 10 am....quiver on the river car and sound show.... usaci event..single point saturday nite...double point sunday...i will be there tomorrow with the dodge...if any1 is going, look for mrray on the license plate, that b me!! i will be competeing in the 0-300 modified class...here's to hopefully snagging at least a 150 :brock: wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  4. vette's rule!! and those in ur pics are wayyyyyyyyy sweet! i love the red c4 and the 67 rag...AWESOME!!! thanks for the pics...if only i could judge a vette show...MAN...i'll be daydreamin all day! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  5. true..u could always t-tap into speaker wires and add a line out convertor.... so for $300...a magnum 12d2...and a hifonics 500d....and a line out convertor well, he should be real close to the $300..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  6. i'd just buy a harness to replace the h/u...then it's just plug and play.... but kickin is right..start with the h/u for the $300...u'll notice a definite improvment over factory...then budget another $300-$400 later for a good sub amp and sub...though with that kind of budget, don't expect to set world records, but u will sound real good with a quality sub and amp..and it can be done for that. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:slayer:
  7. my head hurts....................... :thud: but a whole lot of good info!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. u can squeeze 42" between the fenders..if ya push..heheh...but 41" will drop in.... it is inded 16.5" to the window line...so with cover, 15.5" max 36" deep is pretty darn close..(damn denim..u was close!!) about 11 cubes net before sub and port displacement.... the mtx box i have picutered in the sub section is 42 wide x 15.5 tall x 16.75 deep and it fits between the fenders (tightly, we had to push it down) and beneath the cover...but it does take up more then half the cargo area.... hope that helps...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  9. one more for now.... this one is a close up of the id spl and the fishman grill... i still have two amp racks to make and wiring to do, the racks will go whrer the jump seats are and they will be hifonics 1500d and either zx4000 or 6000...he doesn't know yet(i'm not sure about those numbers either) anyway, let me know what ya think......later wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. another..... kinda post whoring eh???? anyway, this one facing ya from my truck's bed

  14. i want one with treo subs, memphis amps, focal componets, alpine h/u's, dodge trucks(2001 black quad cab 4x4), pontiac grand prix(2004 black), suzuki motorcycles(2002 black marauder), chevy cavalier(2004 black 4 door), john deere lawn mowers, ryobi power tools, hp computers, my 4 dogs(soon to be 5) 2 cats, 5 birds, 3 fish, my wife, my son, my guns and lemme think....something really special...oh yeah......ME!!!!!!!!!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. thnx....the colors match the explorer just about perfectly...it's an eddie bauer edition... melawhat??? hehe... thnx again.. u too denim wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  16. wood......... :thud: :boxin: :boink: hehe...for real, it's a pressed board (plywood like) with laminate on both sides, so the baffle is white inside and out. it's easier and about the same price (per size cut)as buying laminate seperate and gluing it to mdf...the sheet used in the pic came as a 16"x48" piece and cost $8.00 at Lowe's...all i had to do was cut it down to 15.5x42...tada!! instant white face...and it's just as strong (3/4" thick) as the mdf and is less porus. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  17. last post..hehe..i promise..... the subs are 12" mtx(duh) 7500's..they will be pushed by a mtx 801d.. while the carpet ain't perfect, the box goes great with the explorer and hopefully i will get better at the carpet...... the box in the background above is for an x-cab s10 and will hold two 15" id spl's for now...i am on my way to finish it now... quick pic of me spraying some glue..hehe...fumes?!?!?! oh yeah....... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeee
  18. yep..u can catch a glimpse of da wifey in the above pic...and here is my boy by the finished pic......
  19. a few before subs......
  20. from the back.......
  21. here is a few pics of a box i just finished for a explorer....the install pic is on another camera.....anyway, the amp was doa, so no beats yet.....however i did hook this up in my truck off my amp, giving them about 600 wrms, and while they aren't my 15's..they are indeed loud and very clean oh yeah..they are in 1.75ft^3 apiece and the box has a fs of 38hz..well, according to mtx specs...so does that mean that it is tuned to 38hz? anyway, it is my first time carpeting a box and i almost didn't have enuff, so in the process a nasty seam was created..but it faces the back seat, so it won't be seen ........ also...i charged $150 including materials, which came to $65 or so....too much or not enuff?? took 6 hours start to finish..lemme know enjoy.....well, i hope...
  22. i just got one word......... i'mc**minggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.................. my god that install is sic...... very clean and very well done...very $$$$$$ whewww..i need a cigarette...oh wait..i don't smoke..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  23. specificly the a3000db, here, and the a520-2hp, here...... what can anyone tell me about them? how are their amps in general? the reason i am asking is becuz a install i am about to start might include these two amps, if they are atleast capable of their rated power and good performers... also, if u can list amps in the same power range, the mono amp needs to be either 1/2 ohm or 2 ohm stable(the subs are dvc 2ohm) for around the same price...plz list....i need them to be a "matching" pair thanks all wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  24. kewl..that's what i thought but wanted to be sure!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  25. of a box.......how do i measure...from the long side or short side..or do i average it? btw, this is being done for the look. i do have a square side to this box, but i want to save it for something else oh yeah..it's going to be a slot port... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
