  5. hmmmm..they sure are sexy.... but i think tirefryr and b-30 are on to something...i mean even on their own forum, they aren't really known.. maybe the one install was bad... but even around here, the biggest dealer (3 store's within 75 miles of each other, 2 within 50) and mb quart being one of their best componet sellers couldn't really tell me anything about them.....why? but steve is right also...let 100 ppl buy them and start praising them on sites other then mb quarts and u'll hear more about 'em wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  6. here's a pic of the sub being worked over while i was tweaking the thing...my son took this... oh yeah...from start to finish....wiring, designing, building and installing....8.5 hrs flying solo......i think that it went pretty good.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  7. the owner's boyfriend wants to carpet the box...hence i didn't need to finish it. as too the front stage...it's factory, being pushed by a sony cdx-m630 h/u with internal -xovers set at the 125 hz level. the factory 4x6 plates are so harsh i faded the h/u almost all the way to the "rear" 6.5's in the doors. the dash speakers add just enuff to enjoy the vocals clearly... thnx for all the compliments...this truck really turned out nice, all the way to the surprising response from the sub and box! and i really like the way the amp rack turned out...with the amp being as long as the box is tall, there really wasn't much choice as to where it could go...so i ran it parallel with the rake of the box and flush with the baffle. all of it turned out better then expected! and the old rf's do indeed kick ass! one more thing.... can u guess it? if ya guessed....... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (u was right..hehe)
  8. that's cuz that amp IS large...hehe 2"tallx 10"widex 24" long!! here is a link to the soundomain page i just put up for it..... s-10 install enjoy and don't forget to vote for it... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  9. i,too, think they look cheap and well...they look like an afterthought. it's like at work, when we do a repair or rebuild....one major concern is to make it look as though it (the repair, rebuild) was intended to be there from the intial build..not added as an afterthought.. also..doesn' solid core wire ADD resistance? wouldn't the added resistance change the impedence...i know there is something to this...i just not finding the proper terminology..HHEEELLLPPP wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. truely a clean install wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. well...one more.... passanger side of totally finished( for me anyway) set-up... here u can see where the port is located.. man, i'm not shittin ya on how good this thing sounds and how loud it gets...it impressed my wife( in the above photo helping me cleanup)..and that ain't easy to do wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  12. and finally...with the seats in..... does this count as post whoring??!?!?! hehehehhahaahhahehe let me know what y'all think wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  13. from the drivers side.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  14. here's one in the truck..no seat.....but hooked up u can also see how it goes around the jack...hehe wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. almost the same pic as bove..but with the sub in.... u can also see the port in the upper passanger side.(left side in the pic) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  16. first pic above was a trial fit.... here's one of the box done..but no sub....the lip off to the side will soon be the amp rack.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  17. here's a few pics of a standard cab s10 install i did saturday.. it's a single 12" he2 bieng pushed by a modded profile california 1200..benched over 880wrms..in a 2.25ft^3 ported enclosure tuned to 34hz... it's kinda cramped, but u can still get to the jack..hehe also, this thing sounds great and hits hard as frock... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  18. i think install is 60% of what a sub is going to sound like...20% car's electrical system...5% brand of product(if a quality brand)...15% amount of amplifier now the only thing i dis-agree with so far is this...not all subs(or other products) are created equal...a $30 sony xplod may do alright in a proper enclosure, but realisitcly, it isn't going to be used properly and it isn't going to last. also, i'm sure that $30 sony will not get as loud as say a $200 brahma in any givin size with both being in proper installs. there are disticnt differences in quality levels of subs and hence, distinct differences in performance of same. now..when comparing say...a $200 brahma to a $300 kicker..things get a lot tighter. this is where things like power, enclosure and application come into play..and which sub is better for what. in the end of it all...and all things being equal(subs in proper enclosure's with proper power and plenty of juice) any sub will sound good and get loud.. and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  19. kewl...learned sumthin!! and i stand corrected..i thought that this "cartidge" idea was new since memphis won that award for it....oh well... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  20. ^^^^^^^ that was me that's like the third time..hehe though i'm sure this gave it away...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  21. about the removable tweeter..quite a few companies do that, so i should've deleted that part...sorry about the subs...the gimick about the mclass is that (like i said earlier) today u buy a 10", don't like it, tomorrow u can buy the 12" or 15" cartidge and not have to buy a whole new sub. as far as adire and re doing that, i've never heard of it...just like the solo x and rfl being feild rebuildable,(of course they only come in one size) but the point being..u can't change sizes of the other subs..with the mclass u can and save a little money in the process wheeeewww and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  22. here's a brief statement concerning the new "m" clas subs, and componets.... Memphis Car Audio Wins Two Innovations Awards At '04 CES Thursday, February 26, 2004 by Rob Granger Memphis Car Audio reports that the company won big at the recent Consumer Electronics Show, with two products featured in the prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase for 2004. The Memphis M3 Modular Motor Subwoofer and the MClass Multi-Synchronous component speaker each were honored by the Innovations Award judges. Memphis Car Audio was one of only a few manufacturers to have multiple products in the showcase. "Both of these products feature important new innovations that will benefit consumers," states Jeff Triplett of Memphis Car Audio. "It's always exciting to make equipment that is better or smarter than before. That's what we have accomplished with these two products." The MClass speaker cone is made of woven Kevlar and glass-fiber. At the center of this speaker cone is a removable pure-aluminum dome tweeter. The MClass tweeter can be easily removed and replaced with a "phase plug." This allows the listener to mount the tweeter separately providing unmatched installation flexibility. The M3 Modular Motor Subwoofer was honored for its breakthrough modular design that allows the cartridge, consisting of the complete basket and cone assembly, to be replaced in minutes. Thanks to the M3 design, the woofer magnet and motor structure can be unbolted and attached to a new cartridge assembly quickly and easily. Repairs can be made in the retailer's shop rather than at the factory, saving both time and money. The prestigious Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Showcase gives consumer technology manufactures the opportunity to have their newest products judged by a preeminent panel of independent industry designers, engineers, and journalists. For the ninth year, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) acted as advisors to the Innovations Design & Engineering Showcase. http://www.memphiscaraudio.com so whatcha all think? similar to the replaceable cone in the solo x and rfl..only u can change size as well(i know the above statement doesn't say that..but Scott[me dealer] did..hehe)....sweet! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  23. i won't know until this weekend...and i'll post what happened wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  24. it's gotta be the amp..i tried just one sub today..and it still quit. the subs weren't in phase....the "professional" installers who originally wired the box, wired one backward at the quick connect...but even after that was changed..all it took is one good whack on the box to shut it off....i don't get it... anyway..tomorrow the amp is going to the local memphis dealer to get benched.and while there they are going to check the vc's to make sure one of them isn't shorted out.... they are dvc 4...and the impedence needed is mono 4ohm..stereo 2 ohm wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  25. ain't it cool? self moderation...well kinda...i mean it wasn't like electro could've just deleted everything anyway..being he's a mod and this is his forum to boot!! but hey....it's all good now..so one thing left to say... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
