  1. lol, you won't think so when you see it. Especially bolted to an 18" basket. Of course, motor size really means nothing over all. What are you talking about Motor size automatically coincides with penis size ;D So these will handle 1000 watts and from sized 10-18's? What will you be able to burp them at? WIll you let me test them? Would love to see you fit a monster coil in there
  2. let me give a looksy at the A WHOLE LOTTA - DORROUGH
  3. programs such as audacity or wavepad sound editor will work nicely
  4. Even though i hate trucks like yours, this is one exception, hella sexy.
  5. stetsom is said to be as high as 90% efficiency, but the BD technology is apparently supposed to be very efficient also. I would go with the stetsom, they have a small footprint and also the thing about fosgate amps, if the thermal protect breaks you're in trouble.
  6. IIRC optima's aren't very good for car audio. From what i've read they tend to burn up under the high stress. I would suggest the Deka's or if you wanna spend a little more go with the Xs batteries.
  7. OOh, i see a copper ring to lower inductance.. sweeet
  8. DAMN YOU JACOB! always adding things to my wish-list! It's gonna be sick. still waiting for mids

  10. Contact BKOLFO4, and if i remember correctly i was quoted about 200 bucks shipped for the 6.5's and i don't think they make 6x9's either.
  11. I agree more port area or another Q. No reason to scrap your current set up, either build another box for the single, or get another 12. And i believe duran is correct, port back subs up like a typical CRX box. Basically like this but this person used Aeroports instead.
  12. If you are only using a single coil of a DVC driver and leave the other coil open Qes and hence Qts would double, sensitivity would decrease by 3db, motor force (Bl^2/Re) is halved, the inductive corner frequency doubles and power handling is decreased (some argue that power handling is not cut completely in half because the 2nd coil helps act essentially as a heat sink which helps dissipate some of the heat, but I've never seen any testing done to confirm power handling of a single coil compared to both coils). I found this link by accident one day a couple years ago, and it shows a good comparison of a driver's change in T/S parameters with coils wired in series, parallel, one coil driven the other shorted (for both coils), and then one coil driven and the other open (for both coils); woofertester.com If you are interested in the math of why the above happens, you can skim through the formulas for the T/S parameters here on Wikipedia. Resistively Damped Operation can be accomplished by only driving one coil and using a resistor or potentiometer across the 2nd coil to "change" the Q of the driver. This was the entire premise behind the old Ascendant Atlas driver. Yes, they really are. If you want to calculate the efficiency of your subs (or any other speaker), you would use the formula found here; Efficiency (N0) = 9.64 * 10^(-10) * Fs^3 * Vas / Qes *To express as a percent, multiply by 100 *Vas in liters So, for example the Efficiency of a 12" SSA Icon is; 9.64 * 10^(-10) * 29.9^3 * 43.7 / 0.45 = .002502 .002502*100 = .2502% And to verify, to convert this into SPL 112+10*log(.002502) = 85.98db And the sensitivity of the SSA Icon according to their specs; Spl 86.0 1W/1m TaaDaa!! So the SSA Icon converts .25% of the power you feed it to acoustic power, the remaining 99.75% is spent as heat. That's extremely interesting Impious. Great read, you should put this in the technical section!
  13. Do external ports if you're worried about space inside the actual box
  14. This, some reason more and more people are trying to model it.
  15. This is why you don't use Winisd on Fi woofers, use the recommended enclosure specs.
  16. My turf at my old school has bits of rubber prob the size of a a grain of rice, makes it quite nice doesnt hurt if you fall on it
  17. I always have heard he was the best in the game. You have to build up something impressive to get that. I know Duran knows more than i do.
  18. I've never heard anything wrong with doing this besides the fact it halves your RMS rating, but besides that i see nothing wrong with doing this.
  19. 'What amplifier are you using? it may not be 1 ohm stable.
  20. I would get some better marine speakers, sony's are not exactly the best speakers. Something with high efficiency so it can get louder on less power. I know MTX makes some good marine. I'm not too experienced with marine speakers. if you do get an amplifier make sure its marine certified and the same with the speakers.
  21. Typically lower quality (cheaper) batteries rest at a lower voltage, i think Xs batteries are around 13v at resting, kinetiks are also a little lower than 13v.
  22. Anyways let's get back on topic. What we've learned 1. Never count on impedance rise for daily systems. 2. SOME amplifiers are rated for .5 ohms. 3. Still, never, count on impedance rice for daily.
