But im stuck with my volvo, but im making it work.

Here are some more pictures of my 15% all around that i took today while taking videos... keep in mind thats also at like 9 or 10 in the morning and it was not that sunny. Gives me most the privacy I need except sunny days it looks like its 35%. From about 5 or 6pm or later you cant see much of anything and past 7 its pitch black.

thats nice. actually thats exactly what i deicded on finally doing... 5% all around and 35% on shield leme know how you like the windshield and especially some info on how it is at night with visibility and all and if it rains. thanks man

Ok FINALLY I got some videos up. I got a few more but want to find a better way to upload these. The sound is not reproduced well and it doesnt sound very loud but I can assure you its pretty loud. Just from doing these videos my ears were hurting and buzzing for awhile. Also, I have never driven these subs this far. Especially on the lower notes, im usually more careful but after each video I smelled the subs/port and got nothing... also subs and amp got luke-warm at best... not hot at all. Also, the flex... you can see some of it, but alot of it you cant see from these videos. Everything flexes and vibrates (mirrors, rearview mirror, windows, side panels, trunk, windshield moves some, and the doors come in and out but you cant see most of this on video. Subs are outstanding. I got some more pictures ill post too... Enjoy I couldnt find a good place to upload, both photobucket and youtube were being wierd so i used motion box or something like that... Also, sorry for my voice, i just woke up and just getting over a cold. And im too lazy to edit otherwise id make these a little nicer haha. I disagree.... first of all "best" is way to general but by best, that should include all areas, which BMWs are not that reliable... right now the only decently reliable bimmer that i can think of is the 3 series..... you want "best" car??? Try lexus. They have performance, reliability, comfort, everythingg.. only negative is price but that doesnt take away from the amazing quality of their cars. atleast IMO... and im not a bmw hater. my dad has a 335i and i effing love the car... i just think there are more reliable cars out there (But holy cow that 335i is a monster!)

no this is not overly negative, but i understand what you are sayin first, i understand the dangers of dark tint at night but most of my driving is done during the day and when i do go out at night, i can just roll down the side windows because it is never too cold for me to do that hardly... second, this summer i will have to leave my car out in the sun alot and want to protect interior as much as possible. third, security... my subs fire into the cabin and most of the time I have my rear seats folded down and I dont want people to see the subs fourth, i just like privacy and people not being able to see ANYTHING in my car. I dont know why but thats just me fifth and lastly, i am not very worried about cops because they do not harass people in my area unless you are being a complete idiot or they are having a bad day... also i know how to hande the situation if i am stopped.... roll down all windows, both hands on steering wheel, keys on dash, dome lights on.... make them feel comfortable so that their nerves are not worked up before they even speak to you and more than likely as long as you are polite they will not give me a ticket for just tint. I have passed by 100s of cops at night when you cant see in my car at all and sat next to them at stoplights, etc and never once been stopped so i think cops are pretty chill here about tint. If not then ill learn and go back to 15%.... as of now I am thinking abnout 5% all aorund + 50 or 35 on shield but just want to hear some feedback from people that have 5 all the way around.... how much can you see in during the day if its sunny out? obviously night gives a little trouble seeing but im already used to dark tint at night and backing up wont be a problem once i get my backup cam.

Im obviously already illegal now and I know that the new tint will be illegal last thing is i got mine done at a place called England Bros and they charged $225 for all around and it was 15% and a guy at Custom Daves near Charlotte quoted $140 all around and he gets great reviews and uses Suntek Carbon film so I can't decide to go 5% all around with him and pay $140 or if I should go back to England Bros and add another layer of 15% which would then be 2.25% all around or even a layer of 5% on top of my 15% which would be .75% but I think that may be too dark haha. PC is probable cause...probable cause to pull your ass over whenever they feel like it. That, I dont like. I would just add an additional layer to get you to 5% or wherever. IMO it shouldnt be any less than that for a civilian daily driver. Doesnt make sense unless its just for show. Alrite. I created this thread so everyone can post pictures of their tint so that I can get an idea because in the next month or two I plan on re-tinting my car. Currently, I have 15% all around and nothing on the windshield but I want more privacy and heat protection from the shield so right now I am planning on doing atleast 5% all around and 50% on the windshield but am considering as dark as 35% on top of 5% all around and 35% on the windshield. I don't want to hear anything about legal issues, trust me I am aware. Just interested in your opinion and if anyone has experience with tint on the windshield and how it is to drive in rain/night/both.... Also Will 5% all around give me complete privacy during bright summer days or will people still be able to see in a little bit, which is why I would add another layer of 35% or possibly 15%. Here is what I have now (15% all around) but obviously i took the pictures to make them look as dark as possible so I will update this weekend with more realistic pictures

I have 4 10" Dcons and Im loving them. You wont be disappointed. Infact I ran short on space.... couldn't fit a bigger box through the opening but I still managed to get toward the "optimum recommended enclosure size". These subs are awesome. I keep putting off making a video and I really owe it to you guys so I will definitely try to get some pictures and a couple videos up soon. (I believe someone told me if I have some nice pics I might be put on the site and that'd be sick )

when do you think you'll be grabbing this... right now im leaning toward the alpine just because ive watched videos on it and reviews but there isnt much out for the 4200 since its new. Only a few videos from CES 2010. id like to find a video on the 4200 from a owner not a rep and see what they say and all the options etc.

thats a good point. i love alpine's interface and compatibility with apple products which is why currently i am leaning toward the alpine but im trying to justify the extra $100 or so.... I am selling my sub for 250-275 plus im hoping i could get around 199 for the headunit so thats like 450ish for both which leaves me to come up with 150 for the HU and another 125 for a backup camera i really like so i need 275... but i can do that.... is there anyone that has had experience with the alpine ixa-w407 and could shed some light there are only two small things i am worried about.... there is no optical drive for CDs or DVDs and i have heard with lots of music it is a) hard to scroll through and b) slows the unit down but idk. these arent to big of problems though I think I am going to go to an audio store nearby and test one out and then decide. Also anyone interested in a custom sub box for a 15" or a 15" Fi Q w/ BP or some speakers out of a 2009 wrangler (infinity) PM me.

I need a backup camera for my car. It need to be infrared or have some sort of night vision. Its primary use is for backing up at night because of dark tint I can't see as well as I should. Would not like to spend a fortune but want good quality so whatever it takes. Also I do not want it to stand out. Something like this is pretty much perfect except i dont know how it will do at night... I am looking to buy a double din video headunit so that I can have a backup camera. The alpine is my favorite so far but the cheapest I can find it for is $600 which is pushing my budget but I can sell my alpine 9886 and garmin for around $300-350 all together. Just pick which one you would get and why or which one you would stay away from if you have heard something... reason for getting it is i need a HU that supports rear view cameras because my tint I will be getting will make backing up at night hell. Must have functions are rearview camera and ipod full control (hence why i favor the alpine) all other things are extras but not mandatory. Thanks, Patrone
