  1. right now here is where i am... ive taken the old starter battery and replaced it with a new one. now im deciding what the problem is with the sub and what i should do.... capacitor? new secondary battery? new alternator? etc...
  2. well i did not set it up... i had it installed at a shop.
  3. do this... but something is not rite. you need to go back over your wiring again b4 you go buyin more equipment. does the sub just stop or does the amp cut off/ go into protect? only with 1200 watts, a 120a alt and big 3 you shouldnt be seein that big of a drop. Also i think it was the amp but idk. if i kept the volume on 10-11 ish it would be fine most of the time but every once in awhile cut out for like 5 seconds then come back on. If i run it at like 15+ it would cut off longer. I think its the amp. The audio shop said ive damaged my amp but idk if i have or not.

Agree with everything you said. 1200w on a 120a alt and a good battery should not be a big deal as long as they are both in good working order. well i think my starting battery may have been bad. today i bought a new starting battery and put it in. it was a DieHard international. Its all i could find. Now my question is do i get another battery for the back or will i be fine if i go buy a 1 Farad Capacitor from the audio shop? Also going to invest in like a DMM or something. I like the stinger digital meter so i might buy one of those and do a custom little job to make it look decent.
  5. i have nothing to measure my voltage and also the alternator is fine. the battery is 3-5 yrs old. right now im going to get a battery for the trunk and maybe one later for the startup battery if i need it. anything else i shuld know?
  6. nope. right now i just have the stock speakers and they are running off the headunit. I had planned before to get a front stage and another amp but other things came up that i wanted. Such as, i just dropped like $700 on a snowboard and bindings and i still need new boots. So stuff like that just been getting in the way and im not doing competitions or anything so im not like in a rush to perfect this system... ALL i got is amp (sundown 1200d), headunit (alpine 9886), substage (fi q), and the wiring.... thats it. Also i just did some searching... what if i bought a powermaster D1200 and then maybe a redtop for my starting battery if i need it?
  7. So i have a sundown 1200D and i did the Big 3 but thats all... besides that everything is stock. Then recently my sub would randomly stop playing, especially at higher volumes. At first i thought it was my headunit because i could get it to play if i pushed a certain way, well sometimes haha. Then i took it to where i got everything installed and they ran a "diagnostics test" and they said they couldnt find anything except maybe that it was too much power for my stock electrical and that ive fvcked up my amp. Well i cant find the papers to my order with the amp so idk what to do there.... but besides that, the guy told me if i had a capacitor that what happened wouldnt have... is that right? i thought capacitors were only useful if you had a good enough electrical system anyways.. it just stores energy for when i need it but ugh idk its all to messed up. I told the guy i thought it was just like a band-aid and shouldnt i get like an extra battery or something, he said no just buy a capacitor. SO MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS IS do i buy a extra battery or what? If i need a secondary battery what kind? how powerful? etc.... Also would i be fine with my current starting battery or should i also get a different/new battery there to in addition to the one i put in the trunk? Thanks for the help. I need this ASAP because i can't play my subs until i figure this out (if it helps its a 1999 volvo s70 with a 120amp alternator)

i think i did fine unhooking and hooking everythign except i cant fit my 0 Gauge wire back into the amp! I even cut some off so it'd be perfect but it still wouldn't fit. How the h*** did the shop get it in there? is there some tool i need or something because i figure something out i have to drive with my amp unhooked :/ Help-a-Noob

is there a certain order to disconnect the wires from an amp? im wondering because i was going to move my box around some today and tomrw to test results and i need to unhook my amp in order to move my box. i thought it'd be as simple as unscrewing the things, taking the wire out, moving the box, and then putting the wires back in. leme know so i can get started. not im afraid im going to screw something up. thanx, alex
  11. hey, thank you so much for being willing to extend the deal but i have not found anyone who is willing to pay enough for me to sell my stuff so i am going to have to pass on the offer and just do some tweaking on my current setup to get the most of it until later. If i am ever in need of an enclosure later down the road ill be sure to contact you and see whats up. Thanks again. -alex
  12. for cars with folding seats, which is best? There is no standard "best" all application, box size, location, and car dependent. If there were a "best" there would be no need for competitions. good point. thanx
  13. yeah ive had a handfull of people interested but i started at 550 or 600 on some but went down to 499 without any takers... most of them are highschools who are satisfied with sony chit. im about to put it on craigslist tomrw if i dont get anyone else tonight. i reallyyyy want tis Xcon
  14. Hey im selling my 15 Fi Q with BP Power in a 4 cubic ft. box and (4) 3" aero ports wrapped in ultra suede and tuned to 32hz. I wasn't selling on here unless someone desperately wants it but i was asking how much do you think i should ask for? I've had the stuff since march and never abused. The sub cost me like 350-360 i think and i have no idea what the box was though. i think it was like 300 or 350. thats where i got ripped. i told one of my friends 499 for both but for other people im thinking about raising it some? or is that a god price? i need some advice ASAP because im trying to selling this immediately so that i can take part in the Free Enclosure deal from Quentin. Thanx.
  15. if i can sell my current sub and box by thursday then im in... otherwise i cant.

whats the guy with the 850 have? im glad to see someone else with subs in a volvo
  17. the deal has ended right? otherwise ill be up for one.
  18. Wait, what higher frequencies are you talking about? If it is much above 80hertz or so, we maybe should look more at your mids. no its probably like the 60-80s are weaker... i can check tomrw with some tones cause its too late now but im already looking at upgrading my mids. im thinkn maybe get some good mids that canplay down to like 60hz and then i can get the 18 Xcon ported and still have the 60hz and up sounding good.
  19. fishers takin a break from building.
  20. i cant decide if when i get the 18 xcon if i should go sealed or ported.... i love my ported 15 Q but miss out a little on the higher frequencies. A sealed Xcon would get those notes better but would i lose some loudness? Or what about like a 8 cu.ft box sealed and then later cut aero ports if i want louder? would that work
  21. shhit ^close haha and theres always fvck
  22. when i upgrade my system i was thinking bout getting an 18 Xcon and trying it sealed first then ported later if i need to get louder.... first off, a sealed 18 should be close to a ported 15 correct in terms of how loud it is? and also what size box for the 18 sealed? like 6 cu. ft.?
  23. looks great... now tint the hell out of ur windows so people cant see your junk.
  24. wow that qutoe has changed haha i know exactly what you mean... not too long ago i was listenin to ALL lil wayne and a lil jeezy. had like 1,200 weezy songs... now im listening to immortal technique, gang starr, and army of the pharaohs.. unless i want lots of bass then i listen to gucci mane and jeezy.
