  1. x2 on the xover on the amp. use the HU the 880prs is probably the cause of the alt noise. try grounding the RCA's on the HU to the chassis of the hu. (i think johnecon had a picture of that somewhere). 880's are notorious for noise problems. you wont be unhappy with hat amp. was running one till i switched car ownerships, and it was sweet.
  2. welcome sir! we have a wealth of knowledge up in these parts as well as the best mod staff EVAR!
  3. i don't have the power for them, nor the space. going to be bout 700w at 1 ohm. turns out i have even less space than originally planned so that scratches out the SE10 and SSD, i think im going to be one of the guinea pigs for the Sundown SD-1 v2.
  4. keep your gains down? or do you wanna squeeze every last watt out of it?

    there you go
  6. did some calculations in stuffing for my application to save room. if you want to use a 1.4 cubic ft box for a pair and still retain the .707 based off this test http://web.archive.org/web/20020808224043/...rces/fiberfill/ for some reason i had a hard time calculating but this is what i came up with . lmk if you see any errors: .707qtc for a pair = 1.9 cubic ft Starting enclosure size = 1.4 cubic ft 28oz = 1.75 lb for every cubic ft 2.8oz for every 0.1 cubic ft 39.2oz/2.45lb for 1.4 cubic ft effective size = 1.9 cubic ft = .707 qtc! now all i need is a scale to measure that o_O anyways if you wanna save 0.5 cubic ft of space there you go i think this stuff is fine to use: http://www.wards5and10.com/fa12ozpo10pr.html
  7. how will these things do under their rated power? like 350w? edit: also what is the the driver displacement i have to calculate into the boxes?
  8. I'm running my options and these are to be run of the sub channel of an AX5600 (don't know the exact sub, was told around 6-700w@ 1 ohm) i would prefer the mounting depth the to be 6" and under (preferrably skinnier the better, but if it will proved better performance, im all for up to 6.5. I would like to keep the airspace around 1.5 cubic ft sealed choices so far are (in no particular order): 1 10 or 12" SE 1 12" FI SSD 2 10" FI x1 V2 2 Soundsplinter RL-i 1 2 10" Sundown Sd1's 2 12 or 10" Mach 5 MAW 10's for the RE's i would be staying with the optimal sealed enclosure for the SSD i am staying with the recommended box specs of 1.1 cubes with the Copper coil + soft spiders for less power handling. Any idea on the amt of distance the pole vent needs from the side of the box? i want it to be as skinny as possible. for the 2 10" X's im just going use .65 cubes each. i was doing some calculations (not sure how accurate), but due to the limited xmax of the X's the single SSd would have a tad more displacement than the pair of X's. the most expensive are going to be the 2 Sundown and the 2 RL-i's the MAW's are cheap but they have gotten good reviews.... As you can see, i am leaning towards more SQ from my system. Im going to focus the majority of my efforts on the front stage and installation. From what the way i am leaning, its Either going to be the pair of X's or the sundowns. the other subs are either too expensive or i am not digging the deep mounting depth. also any other reccomendations would be nice as well
  9. dispels some myths about speaker wire marketing hype. pretty interesting http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm#oxygenfree
  10. Is it the tubes or the "hybrid design" using tubes? I only ask b/c i recently just acquired a AX-tu1000c & a ax-tu4360 and kind of anxious to install, but should I get different tubes to replace the exsisting SLOVEK's or should I get different amps? Like to know what people think? probably wrong topic reply now that i think about it - sorry ask jim about that. not too knowledgeable on the tubes. If you have the equipment already, test it out and see if you like them, iif not try different tubes
  11. yea i wont believe those guesses until i see an actual bench edit: OR get a number from dirk...cuz dirk gives it to ya straight
  12. how do you REALLY feel?

  14. ...Or at least some Ben Afflek look-alike is looks more like matt damon i think
  15. Power handling is rated, conservatively, at 400 watts RMS. Box suggestion is 0.95 ft^3 sealed with no poly-fill stuffing at all and as small as 0.5 ft^3 with heavy poly-fill stuffing. Anywhere in between with varying levels of poly-fill stuffing works great. You will get an F3 around 52 - 55 Hz in that range. Vented I suggest 1.75 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz for a smooth response down to a 30 Hz F3. sweet. also i dont think you caught my edit: how much port area do they need?
  16. i memer joo! you had the friend who wanted to sell the VLX400's for like 200 bucks right? yep...and i bought it....sold it for 850 on ebay i sold you that lil custom Usamp i had a while back too remember niiice yes you did man! haha its still sitting here on my dresser. i dont wanna give it up i miss that little thing...ever figure out the power handling? it was pushin the hell outof 2 12 w0s though actually i didnt. it pushed hte crap out of my RL-p o_O
  17. oh ho ho! thats very pretty. i might have missed it, but what is the power handling, and suggested enclosure requeirments sealed and ported for this sub? how much port area do i need? need a pair of shallow mount, small enclosure subs for my lincoln install and im looking at my options lookin good jacob!
  18. ahhh okay i got ya now...i just love the look of the Xt series....reminds me of the oldschool days its a great performer....once you get away from the exaggerated power ratings. The new merlin series = oldschool look as well
  19. i memer joo! you had the friend who wanted to sell the VLX400's for like 200 bucks right? yep...and i bought it....sold it for 850 on ebay i sold you that lil custom Usamp i had a while back too remember niiice yes you did man! haha its still sitting here on my dresser. i dont wanna give it up
  20. lol i dont think the power is even 1.5k. you should get about 1200w out of it (i can't stop griping about hte absurd power handling usamps put on the XT series...just be freakin honest. It's called the 4000D becaues its the name of the amp? i dont know lol. its one of those amps usamps puts out to sell to the average consumer, the yea dawg i got 3000w max in my trunk bumping some sony xplods, ya know mass production. There IS a market for htem too ya know, and usamps decided to penetrate that. but none the less, it is a very solid performer for the money.
