792,000 Recall Notice
Wife's Malibu got recalled just a couple weeks ago. Always nice to know that the gas pedal could get stuck in the accelerate position. - Steve

Lol ... I probably have one of those crates laying around Standard finishing process: 1. Spray sealer. Let dry half an hour. 2. Sand with 220. 3. Spray second coat of sealer. Let dry over night. 4. Sand with 220 - no imperfections. 5. Spray first coat of laquer. Let dry one hour. 6. Second coat of laquer. Let dry over night. 7. Steel wool and furniture polish - for the shine. 8. Buff wax coat on - for protection. But Nick can get whatever he wants As an example, the total cost of wood for the coffee table pictured above was only around 60 bucks. The glass was only 10. 60 bucks worth of wood transformed into something some people sell for thousands, which is nuts. - Steve

Definitely look into the shipping part of it. A small item such as the jewlery box shouldn't be too much. And the kitchen took a fair amount of time to complete - Steve
-
Is this worth $200+shipping?
I'd pay more than that just to get a claw basket in my hands. Spider should be good to go under normal operating conditions. If worst comes to worst, perhaps you can get a re-cone in the future and still keep the basket. - Steve

Took a couple quick shots of some things laying around the house. Coffee table - glass top, Eastern Maple, tapered legs, etc. The pictures make the wood appear to be dark - I'm sure you know what Eastern Maple looks like (more white than dark). http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...ent=coffee1.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...ent=coffee2.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...ent=coffee3.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...ent=coffee4.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...ent=coffee5.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...nt=P1010822.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...nt=P1010823.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/...nt=P1010824.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010825.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010826.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010827.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010828.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010829.jpg Couple jewelry boxes - one with the lid is birch, one with the drawer is eastern maple once again. Ogee feet, velvet inside, etc. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010830.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010831.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010832.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010833.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010834.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010835.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010836.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010837.jpg Cutting boards - birch. Oiled with oil that is food safe I think that one is just over an inch thick. Top design (blood drain) is cut by computerized router. I have another one where one corner is like a little cup if you can picture such a thing. Blood/juice drains from the channels into there until dumped out. Again, cut by computer router. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010838.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010839.jpg My kitchen - all out of birch. Fair amount of hours into that thing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010840.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010841.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010842.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010843.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010844.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v144/ss3079/P1010845.jpg There are a few other things around here as well. - Steve

iPod Shuffle
Thanks, I appreciate it. The more I think about, I think I'd rather spend the 50 bucks and get the 1 gig. Only downside in my opinion is the lack of screen. - Steve

Fine Woodworking
It is a PITA sending across the line. When you find time, shoot me some example pictures of what you are looking at. Eastern maple, mahogany, ash, cherry, oak, etc ... I'll put up some pictures after of a few things I've built that I have around the house. This could turn out really cool - Steve

iPod Shuffle
Opinions please. If you don't like it, suggest something you do like in the same price range. I intend on purchasing one, so let me know now - Steve

I'll have to think of those. Pool table - Massive project, and I'd need to find a slate base. Humidor - We'll see ... might look cool somewhere on display. Furniture - What kind of furniture / would that not be a pain in the ass to ship? Depending on the project/shipping options ... might be a good idea. I sell for cheap, as well. Thanks for the suggestions, Nick. - Steve

WOW new Eclipse amps!!
If they're not a million bucks a pop, I'll have to take a closer look. - Steve

Welcome to the IHoP
Yeah that would be a good one. What else did you expect over at CA.com? I mean, God forbid someone say the XXX didn't perform as well as a different subwoofer. I figure that they completely fail to read the part where it says "this is a direct drop in situation. The XXX isn't in it's optimal operating atmosphere. The install was done for the other driver. This is strictly my opinion. This is strictly to see how both drivers compare in one install."

Welcome to the IHoP
Yeah no kidding. I'm getting pretty geared up to get some boxes built.

When you get a chance and if it's no big deal, go for it. It'll be nice to see what other use and to be able to incorporate certain design features with others. - Steve

Fine Woodworking
I've had visions of that ... room in the middle for a nice TV, with built in cabinets for the speakers and some nice shelving for the electronics. I bet it'll boil down to me building 30 subwoofer enclosures out of MDF and selling them.

Fine Woodworking
That would be cool Nick ... appreciate it. - Steve

New Look of Memphis amps
I like the old look better ... but I could get used to the new looked real quick, because I'm sure they perform just as well as the old ones. - Steve
