I use my eyes around town and on the local highways (I never speed in town or residential areas, and keep it under 10 over on the local highways). Even then I have a pretty good idea as to where they are at certain time of the day anyway (small town perk). However, for my one time trip in the highway on a somewhat unfamiliar road ... that's when I'll use one, just for a little extra security. Just drop the cash on a V1

I need to find a friend around here with a radar detector so I can borrow it for a few days next month. Unless someone has one for sale super cheap. Not going to toss $175 out the door for a piece of equipment I use once a year on the highway.

It's sort of like blowing your own leg off and telling yourself to walk it off. Or trying to tie your shoe after sawing three fingers off both hands, getting hit by a truck, and being thrown down fourteen stairs. Just doesn't happen.
