Starting to plan my Sound Stage.
a soundstage that is high up on the dash will not be achieved by placing a 3-way in a door , the tweeter and mid will simply be placed too low . tweeter on earheigt on- or of-axis a mid as close a possible to it. dome for off-axis (you'll have to try to let the windshield work in your advantage ) or a cone if on-axis or close , this because cones often have a lower fs and therefore can be crossed lower getting getting an even higher staging and possibly cross outside the range of vocals . a dome has a much better off-axis responce (wider dispersion)

Looking for a good component set
read a few posts of mine back . I'll give finding a suitable driver another shot geussing 18khz would be enough . thanx .

Looking for a good component set
I was off by an inch but yes I can make that work .I've made more difficult things this is about the way it ought to be , maybe I can get an inch here and there to align a little better butt this is pretty much how it will be. thanx .

Looking for a good component set
tweeterpods will be made on "ear height" full on-axis ,mids will be mounted aprox 40cm (15 inch) to center below that at the same distance aprox 30degrees off-axis on the leftside and very near to on-axis on the right side as for limitations ,no problem mounting big faceplate tweeters , I can't (wont) cut up my dashboard , for a good reason : its a one piece dash and I have to move my engine (take out) to get to the bolts its mounted with . dont think the build will be a problem , just a series of challanges I know I dont need any kind of passive equalisation therefore dont need to buy them .... I'll post up a drawing shortly to remove all doubt .

Looking for a good component set
I had hoped on a little more feedback , I apriciate oldschools and M5's input allthough it has not yet really helped .Am I lacking in providing info in any way ? wondering what drivers M5 has got up his sleeve ! are the rest of us (10.000+ members) only focussing on the sub-stage ?

Looking for a good component set
A-pillars are yet to be made , you're right about the pioneer . I assume those sets i've been looking at are not your choise of sets ? edit : I've been working on many other peoples installs for more than 3 years ... I pretty much have to start from scratch ....again

Looking for a good component set
kick/mid , I'd say 8inch max , tweeter/mid up to 3inch maybe 4 could work not sure though, I'll make anything fit if needed . T/A , level and x-over on HU and/or amps , no external processor (pioneer deh-p88rs2) only real requirement I have is that it's 2-way ... I've been thinking about a dedicated kick + small wideband tweet/mid idialy x-ing on 200hz or so ... havent found a real option yet , planning to mount the kick/mid fairly high up so that might not even be necesary I've listened an worked on some systems , all were 7channel setups , morel elate , hertz HSK and soforth , listend to a bunch too , best thing I ever heared was a dynaudio 3way setup on genesis DM amps ... never really did anything with 2-way setups

Looking for a good component set
Hi all , so I've been looking around for component sets , My goals are , more than decent sounding , and get reasonably loud for those moments I want to sing along and not wanting being able to hear myself (cause my singing isnt all that) . want my EQ'ing to as straight forward as possible so a 2-way will be for me , no intention entering comps but I've got high standards for my own . kicks will find their place high in in the doors and the tweets in a-pillar pods , highs freferably on-axis or close to it . amplification will be a good 200watts @4ohms per kickdriver and 90watts per tweeter by 2 seperate amps as for sound I'm looking for what everyone wants , smooth laid-back highs/highmid and tight, clear energetic lowmid/kick I've been looking at the seas/lotus reference line , dynaudio esotec and the CDT eurosport 620 ,but I can't seem to find shops where I could listen to eighter of those I'm open to all suggestios and hybrid combinations , looking to buy second hand or budget up to 600 USdollar thoughts and suggestions are welcome thanx .

Whats the Difference In Ports Style
acoustical length : how long you say something is (not necesarely actual length and a very common thing for males to impress females) sorry guys , couldn't control myself

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine
the most obvious advantages are very low group-delay and a phase-shift favourable to normal ported enclosures while output is as good as a normal ported enclosure or better. a good flat response , and deadly accurate , disadvantages are a very steep roll-off, below tuning it very quickly has no powerhandling at all and the box is not by any means small. *edit* glad I could take you down memory lane Thumpper

Difference between P800PRS and P880PRS?
never tried it , but heared something like this : A US model HU wont work in europe anyway because of the bands of the radio that are slightly off . so the model you want would be the pioneer DEH-P88RS-II

4th order bandpass
Don't build an enclosure just because you want to build something else or because someone else made something like it , build something that fits your woofer and goals ... who cares what kind of box gets the job done .... better of posting the woofer you've got and the goals you want to achieve in how big a space, asking what type of box would suit you best

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine
A plexiglass window undoes all the work I had making the braces , I've got some polycarbonate butt really no intention to use it , the boxes arent for show , they're meant to achieve a certain goal , I've got the pics right ? our little country isnt that big , rather small actually , the furthest drive though our country would take about 4 hours without traffic jams (as if that would ever happen) , so our audio scene is small too . I hate showing an unfinished box , but since it will never again will be in my car it never will get finished , here it goes , one of my backloaded horns no.5 the last box I played in my car : and a phone pic , since I cant seem to find my camera .... hope the 3rd gen golf and seat marbella get finished soon so I can post up some SQ setups I'm doing ....funny thing is one car will have nothing playing on-axis and the other one has every front driver on-axis ,both with the same set of goals butt with completely different drivers and cars

ported vs. transmission lines
Hope you weren't refering to me . point taken that this is stuff that's not for everyone , butt if noone would attemt these kind of things progress would never be made . I've got a box calculation program that alows me to tune horns and T-lines , and yes when you mess with length and the Sd of the beginning and end of the line ,altering powerhandling and response its is very possible it cant be called a T-line anymore , not saying it cant be done or cant lead to very loud enclosures (from experience). oh one more note , when designing a box a T-line rarely wins from a backloaded horn design (calculated).

Good Marine Sub?
make the effort on a 4th order bandpass !
-
Hatchbacks
get a Ford focus , those are well build , and very suitable going really loud in a no wall situation
-
ported vs. transmission lines
testing and tweaking is the only right way ...with any box , box calculating programs are only a tool to get somtething close to what you're after . not all woofers work in a QWTL , very low QTS (spl) woofers tend to work really well though butt not for burping only because the wavelength becomes to long till it gets to the meter and thus tuned too low build and test both and keep the loudest one .

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine
wow , its been a long time since anybody posted here , thanx for the comments ! obviously I've been busy in the mean time , I'll post-up something soon .. no subboxes though ...I did some doors and on-dash mids next subbox will be build when I get my 18" SMD
-
best bang for $200 or lower
for me it would be a no-brainer , but I've never been a fan of RF subs besides the TRF (only because of the SPL woofers based on that thing)

What Crossover to get
wow , some company acually made a tree way speaker WITHOUT a crossover ......gotta love that !! I'm ripping the housings off of all my tweeters and build me a 4cu.ft box for them tuned @ 20hz TODAY ! OMG

Where to get mdf for cheap??
I gladly pay a little extra for MDF that is : - properly stored flat - in dry, preferably close to room temperature and not to humid conditions - at a place that thas has accurate tablesaws to make initial cuts
