Ok I am totally pissed off right now! This Mechman alternator is total garbage! Voltage is all over the freakin place and I'm done trying to guess why. Metered at the alt post and alt body my voltage is boucing all over from 8volts to 15.9volts and won't hold for nothing and that's both at idle and at 2k rpm. I'm about to toss this piece of junk in the trash!!! No belt slippage, I put a new belt on last week..... Tired of being accused of installation error on my part from Mechman. Plain and simple, any moron with tools can install an alternator, it's not rocket science. My stock alt. does just fine an actually holds normal voltage unless the stereo is loud. Shizzzon metered the amperage at Slamology and it was only putting out in the 150's under full load and at 2k rpm!!! Simply put, I'm done with trying to convince Mechman that this thing is junk. I'm tired of having my intelligence questioned when I contact them with problems. DC alternators are my next choice for H/O alternators, period. Now I just have to start saving some money to get one, and think of what I can do with this 500 dollar paper weight that Mechman has sold me last year. What a MAJOR disappointment. I was actually going to try to hit more shows this year. Not now with this electrical issue.
  3. Saturday, Mac & I were twins! Sunday, David and I were twins! I'm just glad I didn't get one drop of mud on my white one. It was nasty out there Sunday!

haha, no i fixed it before i left because the timing was off... Oh god, now he's gonna blow my subs like he did David's! I actually turned the gain up during my last run and didn't even gain a tenth of a db..... I now seem to have a weird voltage fluctuation now though. Sometimes when I first power on the system it can't hold a steady voltage. It wants to bounce around from 15.8 to 14.9 and eventually holds back at 14.9 volts. This morning my battery warning light on the dash kept faintly lighting up when I hit my brakes for red lights....

Earlier today we had the elimination rounds at Slamology 2011. Had a solo run the first round b/c of a no show in lane 2. It rained most of the day there. I did however manage to squeeze out an improvement on last years score. 148.1 db @ 32hz, on 3500 rms of power to 2~15" Icon's!!!! Gonna plan the next build with either some Xcons or Zcons!!!

148 @ 32hz on the meter (DB Drag) Let's see if I can get it closer to 150 tomorrow! Only pulled a 132 before time ran out on Bassrace. I was trying to hold a 129.9 and wound up going over. Time ran out so I was screwed! LOL

Indy airport is only a few exits away Mark! LOL See ya'll tomorrow!!!
  8. Here's the link to their audio show... http://www.midwestaudiofest.com/autosoundchallenge.php Doesn't really say there will be any type of meter there.
  9. That's freakin' insanely cool!!!
  10. Nice fix!!! Although, I think this is a record for me of how many times I read the word "suction" in one post! LOL
  11. I've also had the rca jacks in amps break the solder on the board and cause bad connections too. Gently wiggle them up, down, left, and right to check too. (if you don't want to disassemble the amp. Most of the time I've ever corrected any engine whine was by finding good ground locations & not sure if this is true but, I've been told by several mechanics here in my town, that antenna grounds and spark plug wires can even cause the engine whine noise.
  12. Nice! Process of elimination will find your problem. Like he said, unhook and hook up different pieces in configurations so that eventually you'll find what's causing the noise. If it's still there, try different Xover and gain settings to try to find the cause. I know it's a lot of work playing with it all, but if it's annoying as you say it is you'll find the issue and fix it for sure.

I got everything in and running. After a few tweaks on the alternator voltage module my issues seem to be gone. Upon the initial start the dang thing was spitting out 15.6 volts! Had to dial it down a bit to 14.7 volts. The sound is on par as far as the last enclosure. I'll have to wait till the drive home from work tomorrow to see what it'll do. I also still have a few tweaks on the EQ and dial in the gains a little better to feel comfortable. As far as the AQ3500 @ 1 ohm on these Icons........HOLY SH*T!!!! They haven't got hot yet just playing in the driveway at short bursts. I have my fingers crossed on the way home tomorrow hoping all is well. Wish me luck!!!

Fell asleep early last night and forgot to pre-register....... SOB!!! That totally sucks! I'm not payin' 50 bucks the day of show to enter after driving 100+ miles at $4.00 a gallon for gas, that's 600 miles of driving for the 3 days...(sorry y'all)
  17. You're just as big of a sissy when it comes to spiders too, Sean...... You surely have one coming, wait till I see ya!!!!

Thanks again for the compliment man. I hope this puts up better numbers than last year. Side note- it's nearly impossible to get spray glue or paint to stick in heavy humidity!

I am absolutely livid with Mechman's so called "customer service" right now. I was told by Mathew my alt would ship back to me last tuesday. Here it is a week later and still no F'n alternator! I called yesterday and was told he would return my call, (never happened). So, I called this morning and was told "oh I have it right here. apparently there was some confusion with the show we attended this weekend and it didn't get shipped. I will make sure it ships today." I told him to e-mail me the tracking number so I can track the shipment. They said "It automatically sends a shipment notification when we create the label." After getting home from work today I check my e-mail.......still nothing! So, I make yet my 5th phone call to Mechman and get their answering service. I leave a message explaining who I am and why I'm calling also that I have NOT received my tracking info and asked if this actually shipped out. I also included my phone number and requested a return call to confirm that it shipped out. No return call was ever made back to me regarding this issue. *edit* just received tracking notification late, but never the less I guess it's on it way.
  20. PM'd ya about the ports.... Progress is lookin' good man!

Spent the whole 3 day weekend on this SOB!!! Plan on installing it tomorrow after work. I still have some gasket and window trim to put on it. This damn thing is a tank! 4+ sheets of MDF, 10 yards of material, and 2 cans of spray glue. Lancelot, thanks for the input on the charger! P.S. no more SoundStream Spies either, I kept waiting for the damn thing to transform and kick my ass!!! When it fell on the floor and tried to run you could hear it hit the floor! He was prob. displaced after I got rid of the wood pile behind my shed, now he's extra crispy!
  22. Jay-C76 replied to Jay-C76's topic in Team SSA
So I go out to the shed to finish my enclosure this morning and had a visitor. The 16 penny nail is where I hang my cord. I about had a freakin' heart attack when I grabbed the cord off of the nail. Before I roasted him with map gas this sucker had a 3" diameter with legs and all!!! I hate spiders!!!
