It's the subs voice coils and the way they are wire that'll decide the ohm load. Example: A single sub, dual 2 ohm voice coils, can either be wire to a 1 ohm load by running the coils in a series. Or, it can be wired to a 4 ohm load by running the coils parallel. Here's a link that's widely used around here that helps to understand wiring subs differently: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp

Well, On most amps you're kinda combining the power from the left and right channels. i.e. The left channel's pos. wire to the sub/s, and the neg. from the right channel would be used as the neg for the sub/s. Now, on a lot of amps there is a switch for mono/stereo in order to bridge the amp. Some amps are designed to sense it automatically. This is also where you can get yourself into trouble due to ohm loads. If the ohm load it too low for the amps recommendations then you'll either trip the protection circuit on the amp or you may over heat the amp causing severe internal failure.

Series is pos. to neg. - pos. to neg. and so on....... Parallel is everything keeps it's marking....All pos. are pos. and all neg. are neg.

I fixed your pic! Make sure this is before the pic [ I M G ] And this is after the pic [ / I M G ] (no spaces between the letters...) I had to space it or it wouldn't read it in my post. Or it won't display the pic... Parallel means running next to (simple terms) Series means in a line (simple terms) So the example on the left appears to be parallel. and the one on the right appears to be a series.

IAK needs an "IHOP"
I think he's trying to go below the window line. Unless he loses the rear seat 2~15's wouldn't be an option unless they were sealed.

On Termpak design software, graphs on a dual common chamber application appear to be louder. As long as the distance between the subs isn't greater than the diameter of one voice coil. i.e.~ if the subs have a 3" voice coil, then keep the distance between the subs 3" or less. Personal experience of mine being is that as long as I have pairs, I design dual common chambers. (ported of course) At least to the ear they seem a lot more defined and louder. Another plus is that it actually cuts down on the space used inside the vehicle. I try to keep port velocity below 5.5% to reduce port noise. (huffing sound) Keeping that in mind, the port areas are generally large. Now if you set up a design for four/six/eight subs, the design will be a grouping of dual common chambers. These will share a side panel or build two mirror enclosures and glue and screw them together. I wouldn't do a dual common chamber set up if you're running individual amps to each sub. Only if the two subs share the same amp, like a monoblock. Reason being is if one sub has a failure then the other sub will not perform correctly and could/ probably will, destroy either the non active sub or both. This is what I've noticed over many years of building and re building enclosures. Not really knowing all the science behind it, I just take it for what it is...LOL Hope this helps!

X2 They're usually pretty freakin' quick with a response too! If they happen to be close to the computer.- Official Team introduction for IAK members.
Gamer huh.....- Dose an fi q 18 require a signature?

Welcome Dallas! I wish I had your ambition when I was 16...LOL It was really cool meeting ya at Slamology.- IAK needs an "IHOP"
wouldn't really gobble up much space either. If you rework the amp rack to drop you even further down... Get ya outta that damn wall class! LOL- IAK needs an "IHOP"
I'd do 3 dual enclosures for the six. with it all together it'd be sick!- Xcon 15's... Is it possible?
IMO 2 -12's for that space would be a much easier and efficient build.- Xcon 15's... Is it possible?
You're gonna need like four - 5 inch aero ports somewhere around 17 inches long. (I think)- IAK needs an "IHOP"
- Xcon 15's... Is it possible?
This is the fun part!!! If you build it, it will boom! What type of tuning are you after?- IAK needs an "IHOP"
Congrats man! What type of commitment if any is there? Some places require you to attend x number of events....(I've heard) A six pack of eights!!!!- Official Team introduction for IAK members.
Hey guys, thank you for the open arm invite! Here's a little piece of my background: 34 yrs young Born in 1976 in an Army hospital over in Landstuhl, Germany. (parents were in 101st Airborn Div.) I have 2 kids, a son who's 8yrs. old, and a step daughter who's 10. Not married, but been with my ole' lady for 8+ yrs. Most of my family live in West Virginia. I've mainly lived in or around the Cincinnati area for the past 31yrs. Been into car audio since before I could drive. I've been designing and building enclosures for over 15yrs. (finally got the hang of it...LOL) Love designing installs that'll shake the fenders off. (love the low, lows) I've danced around from job to job ever since I was 15. Worked in residential construction, roofing, tool & die machine shops, delivery and shipping, ect..... Found some roots in a Sheet Metal Union (Local 24) here in Cincinnati, I'm currently a 3rd year apprentice. Working with wood is fun but, I really have a blast making stuff out of metal. I just recently learned how to properly mig weld, so now I'm having a blast! Car Audio wise: I'm also currently a member of Team SSA as well. I just recently competed for my first time at Slamology this year. Scored a 146.4 @ 32hz on 1650rms !!!! Hope to help you guys in any way I can with enclosure designs and whatever I can. Hoping to do Mark and Aaron, as well as you guys at Team IAK, the best job I can at representing in a 100% balls to the wall style! All while maintaining respect for others and an open mind.- installed the SSA XCON today :)
