My family used to own a cottage on Walloon Lake, but that was 20 years ago. MI....I haven't been up there since I was a kid. LOL Thank you for the compliments!!! Well, I have one more freaking panel to cut and it's too dark to see out here so........ HERE'S SOME PICS!!! (only 4 of them sorry..) Tomorrow she slides back into the Ranger for a final test fit !!!!! Carpet may have to be a later on kinda thing. I still have the amp rack to fab up, plus a few other details that are more important before I compete at Slamology 2010.
  8. I have a suggestion?! Get lots of video's Oh hell yeah!!!! I'm even taking my power converter so I can recharge the battery on the video camera!! Now what class should I enter as or do I just say heck with it and show up hoping they'll be cool and help out? P.S. yeah yeah I know..... get out there and finish the box........LOL I'm stepping out right now.....
  9. I agree 100% I have had three of these brand amps and they aren't rated properly for starters. Plus I never had one that ever lasted a year. Simply a garbage amp in my book....

Thanks a lot for the comments guys! The main construction should be done today as long as it doesn't start to sprinkle on me. The angles really mess with your head when you're getting ready to cut. One wrong measurement or cut and the piece is junk....LOL Man I want to hear this so freakin' bad but, I don't want to rush it and have a poor construction error turn into an install nightmare... More pics tonight!!!!!!
  11. The status reflects the participation in threads....Post count... Others make a donation to SSA directly or you're invited to Moderate.... That's pretty much it.
  12. I can get a 2" radius with kerfs. I can do a smaller radius but there's a point where you can remove too much material when you do the kerfs. I'm sure that enclosure has had tons of body filler to get that smooth look. Plus One hell of a skin of paint!
  13. The resin goes on the back side to fill the voids created by cutting the kerfs.
  14. Kerf cuts and some complex miter cuts..... Not a first time try kinda thing. It's an art that really takes practice to perfect, especially a quad flare.

Well, I managed to squeeze in some work between rain storms the past couple days. Here's the shelf that will hold the secondary battery in the rear. Trevor don't laugh at my welds.....I just started to learn how 2 weeks ago....LOL Here's the tracks that will hold the hood to the enclosure. Time to carve out the sides and see how they fit. They're on a 12-1/2 degree bevel to fit the window taper. And.........guess what this is for! (It should be obvious.....LOL) I'll keep my eye on the sky for a chance drag out the gear and try to finish this dang thing.
  16. Bracing like this: It's a 2" wide strip with 45's on each side so they sit perfect in the edge seams. About the glue... Coat the edge of the panel that is to be butted to the surface of the other panel. When you screw the pieces together the glue will squeeze out of the edges. Wipe the glue on the outside, and if needed add a better glue bead on the inside of the seam. Then proceed to feather the bead lengthwise across the seam kinda like soothing a bead of caulk....
  17. I second that. I use TermPro as well and have always had a pleasing result. But, some subwoofers just are not mechanically engineered to produce a flat response on the graph. (I hate the phase but,) It is what it is...and it's not really a SQ subwoofer IMO.
  18. LOL...... I always write something stupid on the panels to line them up after the holes are cut he really wanted a pair of 15" jammed in there with a flare......not much baffle "all port and sub " That's funny! I always put a made up model number in my enclosures that I build. This one I'm doing now is the XPWS 7000 B...LOL It always confuses people when they look inside... Do you still Autograph each enclosure?
  19. "Apple" ?????? what the......? Nice lookin' wedge there Mr. Komant! Packed them subs in there huh. The sub near the port looks kinda scary.
  20. Holy cow! Is that 78 pm's on that screen shot?
  21. X2 Plus we like pics so keep em' flowing!
  22. nice job!!!!!
  23. Exactly where would I be able to find some of these articles? Or any websites, books, that you think would help me? I am a complete novice at this stuff, I had a lot of help when I had installed my XCONS. Since your new at this, you'll actually find yourself getting a lot of honest help from people on here. Sorry if this seems long winded but if you really want to take a stab at building your own enclosure, Keep your first build simple and to the point. On SSA's Home page you can find info on specs and enclosure recommendations. Also I can't stress this enough: PLAN - Measure your space accurately - Plan again - and measure to confirm before you touch a saw to any MDF. You don't want to waste a weekend building, only to find out something isn't right or you can't even begin to get the thing in your ride! Check out some people's build logs on here and look at their pics involving the construction of their enclosure. Ask any questions that may come to mind as to how and why things are done the way they are. Keep in mind that a lot of people have different ways of achieving the same end results when the do things. There are a ton of little tricks, some are common knowledge open to all and some have their own secrets..... Shizzzon basically gave a good list as to the tools you'll need to get building. I'd like to add a basic materials list to help ya out too. I'd pick up a large box of 2~1/2" screws. They are kinda a goldish color screw. (Home depot or Lowe's) get a pilot drill bit that will be proper size for the screw shank. (can't think of the size, off the top of my head sorry ) 3/4" MDF (Home Depot or Lowe's) 1 or 2 - 2"x4" stud material (for bracing the inside)

And hopefully on this one there will be no flex at all from the back end or the truck cap. Well I'm off to get a few hours in before it gets dark here.
