Why loudspeakers should all be rated at 1W/1m
Never really left, just doing a lot of reading and checking out pics.

Why loudspeakers should all be rated at 1W/1m
One of the best articles I've read on here to date! Very nice write up from the Staff. I just wanted to say good job guys! Looking forward to more quality information like this!

New Season New Builds?!
I have a few tricks up my sleeve for this year! I just finished my new enclosure design. It'll be a shelf with an added "hood" to focus the sound into the front cab instead of swelling up the truck cap with wasted energy. Still using my SSA Icon D1 15's. All the gear is pretty much the same except for a few new items. As soon as Uncle Sam deposits my refund check, it's on!!!!! Oh, and I promise many install pics, install video, and some quality woofer porn!

Polyfill for SPL
I never pick on you, just on what you type. Stop giving advice on what you know nothing about and it won't get called out. You were really distracting the purpose of the thread with false info. My answer was extra exuberant since all the misinformation is really frustrating to me and it happened on a night where there was a ton of it. It wasn't meant to be personal other than hopefully strong enough so you learn to not "help" when you shouldn't. Polyfill will make the driver "think"it is in a larger enclosure. Ok.... 1) I actually have messed with polyfill in the past.... 2) Produced poor results in a vented enclosure, for me anyways..... 3) I was not distracting from anything having to do with this thread.. 4) I've personally watched you bash on a ton of people on this forum, myself included...... 5) I took your comment personally, how else was I supposed to? (read what the hell you typed!) 6) I am far more intelligent about mobile audio than you make me out to be.... 7) Stop trying to "call people out" with your wording you make yourself sound like a conceited jackass! Correcting a person is one thing, calling them names and questioning intelligence is belittling... 8) You've really pissed me off with your comments to me as well as other fellow forum members. 9) Mellow out man! We are all here to learn and have a good time sharing ideas! 10) This will be my last time I address this issue unless you keep pushing it.... I'm done, end of discussion...... Shizzzon: Keep up the great work on your system, I've enjoyed every minute of it! As for flared porting, Run the cuts about 5/8"-11/16" deep on the panels. On most of the radius I've done I've used anywhere from 10-16 spaced cuts. Keep the cuts about 3/8" apart from each other. It's very important to keep the saw straight to prevent a wide spot in one of the kerfs, if the spacing isn't dang near perfect when you form the radius the piece may split. It also helps to run a small 3"-4" strip with the kerf cuts to use as a gauge when plotting out the measurements for the location of the kerf. This will also help to decide how many cuts are needed to for the actual radius.(unless you like doing the math) Before the actual cuts are made it helps to drill 1/4" holes 1/2" deep on the plotted lines. Stagger the holes on the line so they don't touch. (I usually space them about 3"-5" all the way down each line) This will aid in the poly resin (F/G) seeping all the way down into the cuts after the radius is formed. The holes allow any air bubbles that may be trapped, to rise to the surface. (I credit Thumpper for this trick) Like everything practice makes perfect... Hope you guys found this helpfull!

Polyfill for SPL
Sorry, I was trying to learn and participate but........ I really want to know the outcome of shizzzon's theory. Video of the different attempts would be cool.

Amp Rattle.
Oh, shi....um.... try a good double faced tape? My bad I thought it was the lower panel near the terminals..LOL

I can show you how in person if you'd like..... Sorry for the drama on your thread man....(out of my control)

Polyfill for SPL
Take the time to read the topic I linked in my previous post and argue after that it the infromation you posted is right or not. WoW from 2007! That was before I joined here. Nice write up BTW Neil. Science made simple. I never wished to argue anything except that M5 is an ass and shouldn't put people down like that just to make himself appear to be cool. Adrian D, Thank you for being respectful and correcting me on this. It was a nice lesson on polyfill. M5, Hope for the day bro! Keep slamming people like that and one day you'll do it to the wrong person!

Polyfill for SPL
That's you opinion and you're entitled to it.......... As for the slam on me.... Way to show your ass man! You are a Mod who is supposed to make people feel welcome to this site... I have no clue why you always pick me to bash on.. Warn me...? Dude you're acting like a little punk.. Judge my level of education on something??? Get off your high horse man.... If you were so God like, you'd hold all the records and have all the answers huh.... Pick a fight elsewhere man, I grew up a long time ago, I think you should too!

Uh.....My buds T1000 has 2 screws on the front part of the panel....

Polyfill for SPL
You're like a mad audio scientist .....LOL It's cool you're doing hands on experiments and sharing the results! I'd say that isn't a car anymore it's a bass lab!

Amp cuts out
Assuming everything is wired correctly. Either it's ran at too low of an impedance, not enough voltage going into the amp, bad ground location, or trying to pull too much out of it. IMO this is what is usually what's wrong when I see this. 7 years isn't bad...(providing it wasn't abused with clipping) I still have amps from the early 90's sitting around...LOL

alternator problem?
It may have just been a "hick-up" in the system that triggered the warning light. Resetting it might fix it for now, but there's a good chance it will happen again. Codes are vague, even expert mechanics guess most of the time with codes. Simple processes of elimination usually gets the thing purring like a kitten. Next time it happens, take full note of everything that was on or running at the time. i.e. radio,wipers,A/C,rolling up a power window......ect.... Watch for a drop in RPM like a misfire or sputter.

Polyfill for SPL
Polyfill works when sound waves pass by it and the fibers vibrate, this heats the air and amplifies the sound waves. The general rule of thumb is one pound of polyfill per cubic foot of airspace. There it is!!! I couldn't find the right words to say what you said..LOL

Iraggi Alternator now spits out 26v ???WTF
Oh, and only .1 voltage drop from front to the rear!!! (A positive I guess?!?!)

Iraggi Alternator now spits out 26v ???WTF
Weird, really weird......... I just went out to try the DMM Again.... It started out at 26.4 volts at idle, then dropped to 12.4 in an instant right in front of my eyes!!!!! NOW............. With everything off it's at 12.7 (front battery) Start the truck and everything falls to 12.3, I mean everything! Increase the RPM to 2000, still meters at 12.4...... So, I put the stock alt back in, Now I have 14.0 at idle, and 14.2 at 2000 RPM.... But with the stereo I have some good voltage drop going on!!! LOL (stock sucks!)

Iraggi Alternator now spits out 26v ???WTF
Well I just contacted Dominick from Iraggi, He thinks it may be the regulator too... He's surprised nothing blew up! LOL It's being packed up and sent in for inspection... This may take a while if repairs get pricey....(dang)

Polyfill for SPL
Honestly it's going to be a crap shoot from here.... You already have a set enclosure and design. The variables would've been easier to get close during the initial design phase on the computer.
-
Polyfill for SPL
sh....my bad... Try shrinking the opening a little, which in turn the port will have to lengthen a little..(maybe a lot?)
-
Polyfill for SPL
Which way are you trying to go with the tuning, up or down?
-
Polyfill for SPL
LMAO...yeah! I believe how polyfill actually works is that it disperses the sound waves kinda like a filter. Since the sound waves aren't traveling through wide open space, they seem to appear to sound lower.
-
Polyfill for SPL
Right about the don't pack it in thing. But physics have taught us that polyfill is matter.... No two objects of matter can occupy the same exact space at the same time. So it has to account for something... It'll change the tuning alright, just not sure if it'll be to your desire. EX. If you have a 5 gallon bucket full of water put the polyfill into another empty bucket. Pour the full bucket of water into the empty bucket containing polyfill. I bet you can't fill it without overflowing the bucket with polyfill!

Iraggi Alternator now spits out 26v ???WTF
Awww Geeez! This is going to suck! The secondary battery is kinda hard to get to. I may just have to unhook it where she sits. In a few hours I'll re-test them to see if the voltage drops any. I'm surprised they didn't blow! They never even swelled up or anything!...! LOL I guess I caught it in time before any serious damage happened. I might have to work this weekend.... I may try to come down to at least check out your ride. I'll let you know by this Friday.
