  1. Thank you! It wouldn't be the same without the sexy Icons!! I still can't seem to find the right word to describe them to my buds who've never heard of SSA. Everyone that's heard mine seems to say the same thing, "I know what my next subs are, those are unreal!!" My response is, "wait till you hear the XCons!"
  2. Now I know you have a problem reading english..... I posted: "I know this is not a "fair" test, under real world conditions. Plus the designing is NOT tweeked in any way to improve eithers performance." I know how to read the graphs.. Any two ways about it I'm not going to argue through a computer with you about this. It is what it is bro....sorry.
  3. Holy...It makes the graphic look small! The "XCON" used to stand out on the 15 & 12.. That is one hell of a beasty subwoofer, built like a tank! Nice job guys!
  4. Correct... I said it wasn't a fair test. I posted the pics just to show the difference between the two types of subs. Not everyone wants SQ and not everyone wants huge spl. Some just don't know the diff. between the two. Plus not everyone is dumping 4~15or18's in their ride.. A lot of variables come into play since we're all not lemmings wanting to jump off the same cliff. (so to speak)
  5. Yeah, but you may wanna PM them to me.. We kinda thread jacked since I can't get all the info on the DD 3500
  6. I can't seem to find the recommended enclosure sizes for the DD3500 series.. If anyone knows, I can post it up too.
  7. uhhhh...wanna bet everything isn't entered correct!?!?!? Everything is entered on the parameters...... Taken from the very websites that make each sub. Granted some figures are in metric, I had to convert to US standard.... I know what I'm doing with Termpak trust me, I have made many enclosures by using this program. Granted, a real world application will change the tuning due to the vehicle resonant freq. Aside from that, are you looking at the same graphs I posted???? The ripple on the Fi is retarded... That's why it's an SPL sub and not a SQ sub. The graph plainly show the Fi deviates from flat by 1 more than the SSA. See the green line???? You want that to be as smooth as possible, no mountain peak like the Fi..... Disregard the spl line, it's not a true fair judgement. As for the rest, Termpak seems to work well for Thumpper @ PTS, So I guess he enters stuff wrong too....hmmmmmmm
  8. Man...! Do you have a team of Umpa Lumpas in there? I guess w/o the flared port they fly outta the shop.
  9. If you go to slamology you'll hear it. I'm going to start the box next week. There will be a log. =) LOL.. Find me a windshield!!! That's all I need. One stupid piece of glass.........LOL It'll be a windy trip home if I compete like this.
  10. I know this is not a "fair" test, under real world conditions. Plus the designing is NOT tweeked in any way to improve eithers performance. For respects to professional desingers on here and abroad, I have not posted any measurements or port tuning lengths. (sorry :-\) for chits and gigs...... Here's the Icon: 4cf3 (before any disp.) tuned @ 30hz. 48 sq.in. port area (kinda choked off with mild velocity, around +7%) 1000 rms PER TERMPAK Here's the Fi BL: Everything the same since Fi uses same recommendations basically) Relative Response Trace Enable Button When this button is depressed, the Relative Response plot layer is enabled and the relative response for all existing plots will be visible on the graph. Relative Response plots are used to indicate the deviation from a flat response versus frequency. SPL Trace Enable Button When this button is depressed, the Sound Pressure Level plot layer is enabled and the SPL for all existing plots will be visible on the graph. SPL plots are used to indicate the maximum Sound Pressure Level output of the system versus frequency for the applied input power. Use the Applied Power data entry field in the Graph Control Panel to specify the applied power. Cone Displacement Trace Enable Button When this button is depressed, the Cone Displacement plot layer is enabled and the cone displacement for all existing plots will be visible on the graph. Cone Displacement plots are used to indicate the excursion of the driver
  11. Man, that's f'n great!!!!! LMAO!!!! Got a tear in my eye on that one! Or how about blowing out a panel with a poorly drilled pilot hole! (we've all done that!)
  12. LOL.... No numbers as of yet... I forgot to call around to the local idiots...I mean shops....LOL I've been trying to save every penny I can, trying to get a new windshield.. If I can't get it in time, I may have to pass on Slamology....(bumber) Maybe I could be a man whore! LMAO The kids and ole' lady might have a thing to say about that... Anyone have a spare windshield for a 05' Ranger laying around ?????
  13. Dowl is made from a different wood than a standard 2x4... Most 2x4's are made from pine (yellow/white) Dowls I think are made from.....(hmmm having a brain fart and can't recall) LOL The pine is a little less rigid but easier to drill into and get good bites with screws.
  14. No problem.... The graphs are just to manufacturer specs. and recommendations... Single sub, Slot ported enclosure @ recommended rms per Termpak scaling. Although I can't pull up the Xcon info......(because it's not listed on the site...booooooo!) All the spaces are blank for the Xcon.... I can do the Icon ~vs~ Fi BL ????? or the BTL or ?????? Which would you like??? Oh, and what size woofer? (I was going to compare the 15's) I'm working on it, I have to do screenshots, then load them up to photobucket, then to here... Plus try to feed my 2 nagging children.......LOL
  15. Settle down!! Nobody admires a fight through keyboards..... Plus nobody learns anything by having a pissing match..
  16. Can I please see those graphs? Gimme a few... I'll post up the graphs from Termpak design software.... You'll be embarrased as to how the Xcon fits against any Fi subwoofer...
  17. On the edges and corners I'd use a 2x4 cut on 45's then mitered... In the middle I'd use 2x4... Do the math on the displacements of a 2x4, it's not that much.. (2x4 ~24"long = .111111cf3) I know lumber isn't really to true measurements, so the number will actually be smaller. Then when you rip them into edge/corner strips it's even less... I always add a few extra on the cf3 just to compensate for the bracing.
  18. So much for below the window line!! LOL Really fills the rear of that van doesn't it!!! WoW!!
  19. True words of wisdom.... I saved for my install for a little over 2 years..(almost 3) LOL Then cried when 6grand was gone from my bank account... But, I was like a kid a Christmas when the UPS man showed up!!!
  20. Keep chuggin' !!! It's looking good mon!
  21. Easy way to cal. the amp load of said amp, RMS watts / input voltage... Adrian and KU40 raise some very good points. The fuse has very little to do with the actual output power of any amp. It's there simply to protect from surges, accidental grouning, and anything else that can go wrong. I've seen a few in my day actually start to have a faint glow when things were under major stress.
  22. Just registered....Finally!! LOL Welcome to the forum!
  23. W E L C O M E !!!
  24. If you want LOUD bass that doesn't sound like azz when it drops thru the scale... SSA all the way..... If you actually like to listen to music...I mean really listen... SSA all the way.... What good are loud subs if you can only listen to 1/4 of your library? Fi has real peakish graph readings. (hit a few notes loudly) SSA is a more flat relative response on the graphs. Thus SSA would be the way to go!
