  1. I'm also interested, so please, try this wire and let us know if it's any good.
  2. Before you do that, do what others have said, pull the amplifier out and hook it directly up to the battery, see if the hiss is still there. Hmmn well i switched the amp out with a Kenwood 2 chan, and the noise was completely gone, so i think it's my amp should i still hook it up to the neg terminal? Yes, you should, I had a Planet Audio 600 watt amplifier (piece of crap), it sounded great, no signal noise or anything, but, when I replaced it with a Rockford amp, boom, tons of hissing, using the same power and ground wire, but then, when I put that Rockford amplifier into my Thunderbird, it was crystal clear, now it's so clear that it's invisible.

  4. Unhook the positive wire from the amplifier and use your DMM to check the positive wire on another ground, post the results, if it reads good, then your ground is bad after all, I spent hours the other day trying to find out why my amplifier would only turn on if the RCA's were plugged in, then I found out my ground got ripped out of the ring terminal, so my amplifier was grounding itself to the RCA's which is why it would only turn on if they were plugged in. Very very bad.
  5. Yeah that's sorta what I thought. Anyone else have an opinion? Has anyone tried this? The reason I want to try it, is because I want to make a 2.5 cubic foot box that is about 9" wide and the same height and depth as a dresser and mount a 15" in there tuned somewhere between 16-24hz for home theater, I could do it a different way, but I just wanted to know if mounting it in the port will work.
  6. Can I mount the subwoofer in the port, like this? And... Would a 12"Height 1"Wide 6"Deep port be the same as a 6"Height 2"Wide 6"Deep port? Would it sound any different?
  7. Yeah I already saw that, and the link on the page doesn't work.
  8. Yeah I think that is hilarious, is there anywhere I can still buy a 6 pack of the 12's?
  9. I'm actually using it in one of my Cerwin Vega E-315 speakers that I also got from my uncle a while back, one had all the original drivers, the other had the original tweeter and mid, but some messed up fisher woofer that would never stay on sync, and no it was not hooked up backwards, when I would play a 1hz tone through both, the fisher woofer would always be a little bit slower to move, but now that the Orion is in there, wow, huge difference, it actually sounds pretty good. I'll post a pic of it later, the dust cap is pushed in a bit, but it's in pretty good condition.
  10. Okay I gotta ask, what's with the Funky Pups!? Are they honestly crap or are they any good?
  11. I just got it from my uncle, it's an Orion 15", it says "The hott set-up" on the front, the sticker is pealed off the magnet so I have no idea how many watts it is or how many ohms the coil is, or even the model number. I'm not gonna try emailing Orion because the last time I did that, they sent me 7 PDFs that were all the wrong subwoofer, and then stopped replying to my emails. Anyone know anything about this subwoofer? I can post a pic if needed.
  12. Yeah I found that page, I'm thinking it's 40 x 4 RMS, but somewhere else on the page it says 60 x 4, so I'll just have to try it and see, but all I know is it's probably much better than the built in amp in my Vr3 headunit (crap, I know, but it was free). yeah the manual and what the comany wrote for the specs on the amp were 60rms x 4 @ 4 ohms but after someone bench tested it they only got 40rms x 4 @ 4 ohm as the actual output power Oh well, I'm sure it'll do me just fine.
  13. Yeah I found that page, I'm thinking it's 40 x 4 RMS, but somewhere else on the page it says 60 x 4, so I'll just have to try it and see, but all I know is it's probably much better than the built in amp in my Vr3 headunit (crap, I know, but it was free).
  14. I just got an L.A. Sound 4 Channel amplifier, model number S835, it was given to me by my uncle, I tested it with a 6x9 and a PC power supply and all the channels seem to work, it's supposedly 800 watts (max I'm assuming), has anyone ever heard of L.A. Sound or used any of their amplifiers? Were they any good?
  15. Where's the pics??
  16. Well I emailed Orion, and they just keep sending me PDFs that they have on their website, I've already gone through all of them, and none of them are the ones I have. The ones I have look really old, and are in need of new dust caps and gaskets (or whatever you call them, they go around the area where you screw them in the box). Here's a picture of one of them.
  17. OK... Thanks! I was going to ask that but now i don't have to So it should look something like this... What are you using to draw the box like that?
  18. It says right on the magnet 800 watts RMS, XTR 12 DVC, I can't find the exact ones ANYWHERE. Would ONE in a 2.5 cubic foot box be okay?
  19. I want them to pound, but I don't want them to take up all my trunk space, I want the box to be tuned around 32hz, so does anyone have any suggestions?
  20. Well it all depends on what the score was, if it was like 164 and went to 164.8, I'm sure you'd here some difference.
  21. oh I knew they were being massively overpowered.. I just didn't care lol. I hooked it up to .5 ohms which is about 7k on my amp and they are rated for 1k each.. go figure any vids of this episode? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he has 2 videos on Youtube, 2 12" RE Audio SE's on a Stetsom 7KD. Sorry if it's not the same person, but here's the videos. no, all of my videos are under the username Owners1 http://www.youtube.com/user/Owners1 Alright, my bad.
  22. I remember running a 1000 Watt Crunch amplifier on stock electrical, and I hardly had any issues, voltage stayed above 12v most of the time.
