Since it seems like your stuck on the RD then get it but no body can tell you which one is better, the only way to tell is to buy both and test them. When it comes to car audio you gotta compromise and if that doesn work then flip a coin, that is the only way you will be able to make a decision especially if it only comes down to two drivers.

This shouldnt matter when your purchasing it, Rockford Fosgate's are good amplifiers (make sure it has a variable sub sonic filter or you wont have a lot of options for tuning your enclosure). It has enough power, like said before make sure you have the electrical to back it up and you will have nice setup.

You can port any size driver, I have seen a 6.5" driver ported before.

I would only flip it around if you can get the port and subwoofer firing directly inside the cabin and not blocked by the trunk and cabin seperator and if you plan on properly sealing it so all the waves go directly into the cabin. Just my .02

Yeah the BTL will be louder than the BL on the same amount of watts, yeah it is a shot in the dark when ordering products you havent heard. I went to Florida A&M Univeristy for the School of Business and Industry (one of the best, well used to be has kinda went down hill after the dean who founded it left but it is getting better). In that area there is Florida State Universtiy and Tallahasee Community College sitting the nice small town of Tallahassee. If I must say one of the best places to go to school no matter which school you choose, I really enjoyed my time out there and thinking about going back for Grad School, depends on the cost vs. going to school here in Texas.

it sounds like he is looking to be as loud as possible and 2 12's should be louder than 1 15 if put into the proper enclosures. the single 15 would be cheaper but the 2 12's should be louder and still fit into his price range so thats why i suggested that route instead of a single 15. Not neccessarily, but most instances you are right (more cone area does equal louder) but it depends on the equipment being used also.

Stop comparing the size of the woofers as what to get and look at the space available. In some instances 2-12"s can be louder than a single 15" and then vice versa. First figure out how much room you have available for an enclosure minus the extra battery, amps and airflow around the box to get into the cabin. Then decide on your budget, then your goals and listening levels, then start deciding one equipment to run with?
