  1. Box volume may be the same. Did you check the price difference? The btl's can be cheaper. It's a German amplifier, isn't it ? Seems to be a monster amp !!! 11,500 watts rms, wow ! good luck
  2. I saw the STETSOM 2Ksomething. I've read lots of stories about this amp brand. But their amps are cheaper than Sundown, so...? Still thinking:peepwall:
  3. I don't know what is my alternator size !!! But I know it can keep up with what I have for some times. I can't play for too long here, as we don't have roads to drive for hours !!! My island is 90 km long, and 40 km large only. The engine is a Diesel 2.0 liters. I think the alt is strong, because diesel needs good power to start. I have quite the same voltage readings with or without the system playing ! And I check it very very often ! My voltage is even better since I took the 0 ga wire coming from the engine block to the batt(-) . It was going to a ground point before. Good improvment on the voltage readings ! Thanks for your advices. I keep thinking about what to do.
  4. I hope the factory alt can keep up ! so you're telling me I can simply add a small AGM batt in the back ? I know the best thing to do would be to just run a big AGM batt under the hood, but my factory batt is still very good. It would be a waste to take it out. I must think about it more ! Thanks
  5. Everybody here will tell Sundown Audio amps !(sax 1200 or saz 1000 if you find one) I use them too ! But whatever fits your budget : Clarion, Audiopipe, MBQuart, Audioque, for the cheapest. Kicker, MTX, JL Audio,...etc You should get another amp for your front speakers in the same time : a 2 channels, or a small 4 channel to run bridged on a single set of speakers. Even if you're not changing your speakers at the moment, the current ones will like an amp, and will love to have a HPF on them to take the bass off !
  6. How will you fit the 18" sub in this crx ? A wall, ...or you will remove the back seats ? Great sub though ! Already have an amp for it ?
  7. I know what space problems are ! I had too dowgrade to a 12" sub from a 15" to be safer and have some more room available ! Try a 10" ported. You will loose so much with a sealed box. Fi bl or Q, SSA Icon, Sundown SA 8" (can have 2 of them) or 10",...
  8. Hi , I will buy a 2500-3000 watts amplifier when I find a good deal. With my 2 amps (Sundown saz1500 and sax 50.4 bridged) I have no voltage drops, no dimming lights. But I know my stock battery will have trouble with a more powerful bass amplifier. I don't want to change that stock battery : it's 2.5 year-old but still very strong ! I did add a 0 ga wire from batt(-) to ground and another 0 ga wire from engine block to batt(-). I can't access the alt, it's under a lot of things ! Here is my question : how bad is it to just add an AGM batt in the back ? Will it hurt my stock batt ? I can have access to Yellowtop, XS, or Kinetic locally. The Yellowtops are the less expensive, but I can add an XS D925 easily. What can be the best choice in my case ? Add a second small AGM batt in the back, or just put a big AGM under the hood and get rid of the stock batt ? What would you do ? Thanks
  9. Get at least a 12" if you want to go sealed. Ported enclosures can sound good if they're built to specs. Don't take a sealed one because you think it's the best/only way to sound good. Take a look at the SSA Icon (or Fi Q, yes it's a good one too), or the SSA Xcon : you will love them, and they like sealed enclosures. I had a 15" Xcon in a 3 ft3 sealed box : it was so nice. But when I put it in a ported box, I could not go back to sealed !!! Good luck
  10. I Will wait some more... I already have the money. I can but I don't want to change my battery for now : it's still good enough. I will see what to do when I have the new amp installed.
  11. Lots of excursion !!! I've never seen mine moving that much !!! But I think I have more port area : Bromo used the following rule for my box : 15ft2 for each cu ft, and I have 2.1 cu ft net.
  12. I will wait until I find a Sundown 2500 used from Jacob ...or even db-r. I have a limited budget of $500 for the amp only. Shipping will add more $ to it. I don't want to go to 3000 watts. My electrical will need too much upgrades ! And I don't need that much power, for my fully loaded N2. I live far away from the USA, so shipping will be very expensive if I get an amp from an individual member. Need to be a professional with good shipping rates @ Fedex or UPS.
  13. Wow ! I want to see the final product, with the woofer in !
  14. Hi guys, I found very good prices on these 2 amplifiers on Audiosavings. They're cheap (less than $450) and claim to be powerful. I am surprised by the fuse rating on both of them : they need 130 or 150 amp fuse only for +2000 watts. My current amp, a Sundown saz 1500 needs a 150 amp fuse. I know Cadence and US Amps are well known brands. How can that be ? Are their ratings legit, or are they overated ? I still want for my BTL N2. I will upgrade the electrical after I get the amplifier. I will add or change battery for an AGM one (probably an Optima Yellowtop) later. what do you think about these 2 amps ? zrs c1 and md3 ?
  15. 2 SSA Icons sealed would be very nice too, and cheaper than the Xcons. If you have room for 2 15"s you can run just one ported in the optimal enclosure.
  16. Try a 12" in 2.5 ft3. But you could be happy with the 15" in that small box. You never know !
  17. Trim it ! You can use a distribution block with 0 ga input and 4 ga outputs.
  18. Good to know ! How do you like this sub now ? (I love mine !).
  19. You should not need a lot of upgrades to run a 1500 watts amp. I don't even have a secondary battery, my stock one is not an AGM battery, and I did the big 2 ! I still need to add the wire between alt and batt. With absolutely NO problem. I watch my voltage and I have no drops at all. It's all car dependant. Get your sub and amp, do the big3, and you will see. If you need more, you will know for sure !
  20. You'd better make your own or get a custom box made for you. You may not find any sealed box with enough bracings on the internet. Prefab boxes are simple and not strong enough for high powered drivers ! But I may be wrong !
  21. Just for your information : my 12" BTL N2 is in a 2.1 ft3 box tuned to 32 Hz, and it hits the lows sooooo well. I could not imagine this sub could play so low with so much output. Incredible !!! And I had a 15" SSA Xcon (in a 3.1 ft3 box tuned to 32 Hz) just before on the same amp, in the same car. Good luck !
  22. I did not know the SI Mag were so big. That's a killer deal for this Death Row : will you build a box for this beast ?
  23. Show us your install and your ride, when you can !
  24. You're back in business ! Good to know !!
