  1. Is it really better to ground the engine to the neg pos on the batt ? I did it to the chassis, but I can move easily if it can be better. Nevermind, I will try it as soon as I can and will let you know the results !
  2. Agree with Duran. New cars are made in a way they can be destroyed in accident instead of you the driver. Look at the crash test on u tub !
  3. Not the same goal. I loved my Xcon for sure. I need to play some more to really know this btl. I can't compare so easily. I feel the btl is louder, but for the accuracy, I can't say by now. I did not want the old btl, too heavy ! And I needed to downsize the sub. If I had a 12" xcon from the beginning, I don't know if I would have change my plans !!! both subs are great. SSA subs can be loud too ! Sunday, at a local comp, a friend of mine went to the spl comp just to get metered with his SSA Icon 15" (I sold it to him with the box). He wanted to be the last competitor because he was afraid. He did 139.7 db sealed on the dash with a 32 Hz tuning box and all his rear speakers on the hatch cover. He did not took off the fuse on his mids amplifier. He was so happy. A few cars were way behind him with "wall" and spl subs !!!!!!!!!!!!! He was making fun of them all day, with a huge smile !!! Maybe I'll try to get metered one day with the btl.
  4. Would like to get a 2500. Gotta make money fast for one AND a big batt. I'll let you know.
  5. This KC guy is hot ! I can't understand why he's set on an 18" woofer. But he has a good list of subs to choose from. OP : if you're going for "SQ", what will you run for frontstage ? and for processing ? Maybe it can help people to help you !!!
  6. Take care in this Afghan country !
  7. I have the 165 KP and I love them for years now! those are the new ones. I run them on a Sundown sax 50.4 bridged : it should give them 2 x 160 watts rms at full tilt ! They handle easily what I throw at them ! Install them right, and they will shine even more. Congratulations.
  8. I think I like it more than the Xcon ! But I still need to play with it more !!! Here are some more pictures : the port : The trunk : Now, I might have some room , in case I want to add a battery. Who knows ?!!!
  9. It is not cheap ! It must be fantastic !!!!!!!!!!! :morepower1:
  10. It was $200 (UPS) for me to ship my btl to Martinique in the Caribbeans ! Be happy with these "low" shipping costs !!! And you know what ? I will be ordering 2 more btl's soon !!!
  11. Maybe I wrote it bad !!! The bass is heavy, the output of the sub is heavy, loud, ... The sub is lighter than the older style one. About 20kg "only", that's not so heavy for such a beast !!!
  12. You can try to run your system with only the starting battery. Check your voltage. You will know if you need something else. Of course, do the big3 first. I think it would be better to have a good AGM battery (like XS, Kinetic,Deka,...) under the hood if you want to upgrade. And then a second one in the back. Mixing batteries with different technology is not a good thing. But I'm not an expert, and don't know a lot about batteries. I need myself to upgrade my battery. But those AGM batts are very expensive where I live. I've read that the Deka (the group 31 one) are very good, and very cheap. Take a look at them.
  13. I will never touch the rca with the h u on. But it is a Pioneer, I don't know for Eclipse.
  14. try to ground the rca's out of your head unit to a good grounding point. That may help you. It's what I did to my Pioneer 88 prs, and it helped a lot. Until I decided to take it to a repair shop; a pico fuse was defective and they "fixed" it for me ! For cheap : less then $30 ! everything is fine, now !!!
  15. I got them all ! I hope they're at the right volume. I need a blank cd now. I know I will find one at my co-worker's office !!!! Thanks again for the link.
  16. I have all the pics in the build log section, I made a topic there ! first listening session :wow !!! This sub gets loud and plays soooo low ! I was impressed, amazed. And so was my installer : he wants to sell his 2 xcons 15" to get 2 btls 15" instead!!! Second listening session : still very loud, but it seems that the gain was too high, and so, I had some weird noise coming from the speaker at high volume. But on the low notes eveything was good, only the "highest" ones were making noise when hitting hard. I turned down the gain and...no noise at all, only good good bass ! I did not think a btl could sound like that : it's smooth and heavy ! I still need to play with it for some times !!!
  17. Hello, I recently received a 12" btl. I put it in a well built box (I have pics in the build log section), on a Sundown saz 1500 amplifier. I had a weird noise coming from the speaker at my max volume. Even if I did not change any settings from my previous setup (I had an xcon 15" on it with NO problem), it seems that my gain was too high. I turn it down and everything is good now ! But I want to find good sounding test tones to set the gain right on the amp. Can somebody show me where to find some ? I think in the 50 to 60 hz range. I set the gain by ears, and I will try to see what I can do with a DMM for that. Thanks in advance.
  18. Just fix the bad sub. You should love them both on that power. There is an AA sub-forum here, try to post something, they answer really quickly. I could not see your box at all. Are you sure it is good enough ? (volume, tuning,...) Is it strong enough ? Fiberglass box for 2500 w rms of power ? I don't know of it can be strong enough for these little monsters !!! Good luck !
  19. The settings seem good now. And this btl sounds better and better ! I am starting to love it. 2 btl 15" will be ordered next week for another build.
  20. I had an Xcon in a 3.1 FT3 ported box tuned to 32 Hz. I sold the sub and had one to wait for my btl, an L7 that I put in the same box. Understand ? The btl is in a new box (2,1 ft3 @ 32 hz).
  21. Sorry Rédneck, but it's not my first ! Don't let idiots kill you !!!
  22. I totally agree with you Sir Lancelot. But I had the same gain setting with my Xcon and my L7 (both in the same box). This is a new sub, with a new box, so it must need a new setting. I will play with it and I'm confident, it will good !!!
  23. When we heared the noise, we took off the sub to check all the bracings, we put the wires in another way. Then we understood it was the sub and not the box. Honestly it sounded like clipping! And that's what my installer told me. He works in the pro audio world and has a very big system for live events. He knows his business. I never said the sub is not good. I simply asked for more advice.
  24. Sorry for all this...but it's the first time this happens to me on a sub. I turned the gain down this morning and no noise at all. So Nick must be right. I will cross the sub lower later and test it. I did not play long with the noise. A few...seconds since I noticed something. I will NOT blow anything !
