Amp repair. Help?
I think it's a wonderful ambition. Depending on the depth of the repair, you'll likely need several specialty tools at your disposal. Dual input Oscilloscope, function generator, dummy load, a GOOD soldering station and supplies, a semiconductor handbook for component matching and cross reference come to mind right off the bat. There's more I'm sure, but at this point in time I can't think of it. I dunno what you know about electronics in general, but some beginner courses would be good to get the basics down as there's quite a few different components to an amp and they all work differently and perform different jobs no doubt, but understanding how they work together will get you that much closer to being able to troubleshoot and repair an amp.

Quick build of box for SA-8 in center console
I love the enclosure!! It looks SCHMANCY! LOL... Very nice and clean looking, fit and finished wonderfully. Also looking forward to your opinions on the SA-8 as well! :drink40:

Plan on ordering tomorrow what amp?
What is it with people having no patience these days?? I would rather wait for a product with a long proven reputation than get a product that has little time to prove itself yet. I'm really not putting Crescendo down here, but simply giving my opinion.

Damplifier Pro Confusion
I know EXACTLY how you feel Jake. I've had the Sundown amps, SA-8's, and all the gear required for installation for my Jimmy for about a year and a half now, it's just hard to look at that corner of my bedroom sometimes without getting bummed out that it's still sitting there.

suuuuuuup
to the forum! Maybe you can find a good used SAE-1000D, or the Audiopipe AP series amps seem to be highly regarded by several people.

Quick build of box for SA-8 in center console
WooHoo to the mini-van installs!!! I like the way you matched the curves of the dash and seperated the sections of the enclosure like that so you could do an external port firing forward hidden by the front section, VERY well thought out IMHO. Looking forward to seeing more of your install work dude!

Thought you guys might find these interesting for a 3" driver!
Oh, they're very interesting. Would love to play with a bunch of them, though with that price tag it won't happen very soon, lol.

Help me with my setup.. mids/highs/highs amp
It looks like it has the controls you're needing to me... I can't download the manual, so I can't speak for just much adjustment it has, but from what I see it looks pretty decent. Nevermind, finally figured out where they hide them. From what I'm reading the CD-7100 would be a fine choice of HU for the controls you're needing. Found the manual here.

so i got my bl in but it sounds messed up...
Wow, that's some problems. I wonder where you got the enclosure, buy it, build it yourself? Are you certain it doesn't have any air leaks? Air leaks ruin the tuning and the ability of the enclosure to do it's job. How did you set the SSF? It sounds like you have more than one problem going on, but it's going to take some troubleshooting to find them. I wouldn't play the system any more until you have it figured out either, playing the sub to the point it bottoms out, or even gets close to doing so is going to ruin it. I'm sure they can get you a new sticker for the dustcap.

Help me with my setup.. mids/highs/highs amp
Those would be overboard for this setup. It's not going to sound "good" regardless, so he just needs to keep things from breaking. Oh believe me I know, but he's already stated that he just wants to hear answers about what he wants to hear and not listen to any good recommendations to what he should be doing, so I gave him an answer. I know I may sound like a dick to some in that statement, but it's true, we're all really here trying to help. it didn't help, not to be rude.. but it didn't answer what I was asking either. I wanted advice on how i could make it work.. not other options which is about all i've gotten. It sounded dickish to me.. but that's only if it mattered, it adds nothing to the thread so.. it doesn't. If what I answered to you in post #7 isn't of any help, then I'm not sure how better to help you. The FMOD's are designed to be used when no crossover is available at all or for some reason unable to be used. They're by no means supposed to be used to replace good crossovers in an active setup. If the Sundown 4 channel proto has the good crossovers in it, it will be basic, but do what you need them to do. Of course with the right HU or external crossover it can help much more with good crossover and EQ adjustments. I understand that your only wanting it to get loud, but don't you at least want it to sound decent too? Youtube videos do NOTHING to tell anyone how good or bad a stereo sounds, which is why a lot of people on here despise what Youtube videos have done to the car audio hobby. I also appreciate your candor in your response as well. We're all adults here and it's good to see adult type responses to things we don't agree with. +1 for that sir...

Subs firing into cabin help!
You should really try to seal the enclosure to the opening. You could take some old clothes and stuff them tightly in around the box from the trunk side for temporary testing and see how that helps. If it helps then work on making a permanent seal. It can cause a lot of cancellations turning the subs around and not sealing it.

Help me with my setup.. mids/highs/highs amp
If the 75x4 is a sundown amp, find out if it has the same crossover controls the 100.4 does. If it's built like the 100.4 then it can handle the active setup you're striving to go with. If it doesn't then you'll need either a HU with at least crossover controls built in or an external crossover. Better than any of those options would be a processor like the MS8 or Audiocontrol DQX or the DQXS. There's others but I can't remember them right now, lol.
