  1. I have a X-991 book for it said 3 (front, rear, sub non-fade) at 4v. So I went to Kenwood's site and pulled up the book for the 993, said the same thing. The book didn't give an indication there was any difference in voltage between any of the pre outs. Kenwood KDC-X993 Manual page 58.
  2. That would explain the clipping then. That Kenwood unit has 4v preouts. If you had it set to 2v, then that would be like having double the input power, would it not?
  3. Indiana is the same way, saw freezing temps he last two nights. It's 62 and sunny now, lol. OP, welcome to the Forum!!
  4. Welcome to the Forum!
  5. I'm not familiar with Kicker amps and the labels they give to the dials, but when you talk about 6db out of 18db, wouldn't that be the bass boost not the gain? Also, the Kenwood X993 HU has 4v preouts, if you set your gains to be equal to 2v input then it's possible that the gains were set too high. I'm just grabbing at straws I'm sure, but these were two things that stood out to me in this situation.
  6. WOW..... That track is great. Can't wait to hear the finished product. I'm no artist or musician so I can't come up with any critiques or suggestions. Except keep it rollin', it sounds great. BTW, damn ITunes. I went to download the reference songs you guys were mentioning so I could hear and understand what you were talking about and they had that song by DJ Magic Mike, and lots of other songs by Kia Shine, but not In The South. Bastards do that to me all the time. /rant
  7. Concentrate on getting better man. We're all anxious to see the build, but not at your health's expense. I got patience, I'll exercise it. LOL
  8. so chop..... you never did mention why you wanted to see the sides and rears of the tubes....
  9. Damn dude...... that's excellent work....
  10. I'll help with one of the shirts and the decal as well.... who do I paypal?
  11. That looks absolutely fantastic!!
  12. You're welcome. If you go the potentiometer route they're cheap enough I'd buy several difference sizes (i.e. 50ohm, 100 ohm, 500 ohm, 1k ohm, etc.) so that you can get the best adjustment without making it real touchy and being able to turn it up to say 24v by accident. I doubt the regulator could hit that mark but to be safe start with the smallest.
  13. Here, found a good page that explains the operation of a potentiometer as a rheostat even. Thought it might help: Potentiometer as a Rheostat
  14. I can see where it would work quite well, like it is for lancelot's friend. To find out the value of the resistor you need, all you need is Ohm's law, BUT if you want to make it adjustable all you need is a potentiometer. If you wire the potentiometer as a rheostat, you can turn the voltage up and down and adjust it a little if you'd like to.
  15. Hello? Where'd everybody go?
  16. sometimes you feel like a nut..... sometimes you don't.....
  17. Wow..... glad I'm not the only one. Same thing here, de-ja-vu all the time with little things. Some small conversation, a part from a movie, whatever the case may be it happens a lot to me as well. I've always felt these little "premonitions" were a good thing just never knew how to handle them. Freaked the wife out at the movies a couple of months ago when I recited about 4 lines from the movie that were never in the previews.
  18. Nice...... looks like they're doing better than mid-basses for sure now..... lol.....
  19. I like it pop, looking forward to the vid.
  20. Yeah pop, now we gotta have pics and vids!!
  21. Poor Poor Poor little car. Almost afraid of what will happen to it if you put two BTL's in it. LOL, I'm tuned.
  22. LOL, right on! I can't wait until I can get busy and get mine done! I took a week's vacation this week as it's the kids' spring break and I'm spending all my time with them instead of working on this stuff which has been tough cuz the weather has been great for it. At any rate I'm REAL happy to hear you're up and boomin', tuned in for the pics and vids.
  23. Here, check this out, short read but gives you an idea. Wood Glue Showdown
  24. C'mon guys, I'm like an addict needing my fix here!! LOL
  25. It looks great, my wife loves that green (what's the color code on that green anyhow?) and congrats on the score.... and just think, as you break in the sub it will only play lower and LOUDER..... btw hopefully I can start a thread with a similar title soon myself... lol
