  1. Well, since I'll be waiting awhile figured I'd post the design idea for the rear of the Jimmy. It's VERY basic though as I'm not very good with the 3D modeling, but it should give an idea of the layout. I'm not looking forward to the work involved however, too many angles for the tools I have but I'll make the best of it. Here goes nothin': The amps are the boxes on the right, only way I could figure out how to get them both on the same side was to mount them on an 11º angle slightly overlapped to make it fit in the short span that makes up the rear of the truck. There's not enough width to put one on each side and not ideal for a false floor since I haul everything from my dogs, to firewood, to whatever in the back of the truck. I'll be using Neutrik Speak-on connectors to make the box removable for hauling such items as well.

That's great man, it's always a blast to watch the kids learn and grow. I just hope he doesn't do to you what my first boy did. Starting crawling at about 5 months like yours, then at 6.5~7 months he was up and running!!! Absolutely impossible to keep up with, lol.
  3. This is another reason I wish I had a GOOD table saw. That will be one GREAT looking flared port when its done, and the air flow will be so nice and smooth through that curve.
  4. Can't wait to see it finished. I also hope mine go out soon so I can join in the fun!
  5. So, how do they sound? How loud do they get? DETAILS man DETAILS!!! lol, c'mon dude, spill the beans. and BTW HOLY CRAP that's a lot of port area... How much port area did you give them? Glad you got yours man, can't wait to hear some feedback on them from you guys who ordered early.
  6. I'm glad you got yours fan, can't wait to see the end results! I ordered mine in February, knowing my luck it will be two weeks before they ship out, which would probably actually be helpful since I have so much to get done already. I'm just waiting for the day of glory.
  7. Finally, someone who noticed the same thing I did when it comes to the sound of the Hifonics amps. The sound is just not clean, muddy and slightly distorted, and not just at high volume levels. I would recommend going ahead and spending the extra $$$ on the Sundown. Being that Maxxsonics makes both, and with my experience thus far with Maxxsonics built amps I have to recommend the Sundown, Audiopipe, or something other than the Maxxsonics built products.
  8. No. No. I think you understand the difference, you're just using confusing and unnecessary phrasing to attempt to describe them. From what I can gather, we're saying; Gross - displacement = Net You're trying to say; Net + displacement = Gross Looks like the same thing to me..... paychecks for example.... your net pay is your gross minus the taxes and other deductions...... your gross pay is simply your pay before those deductions or if you know exactly what the deductions are, with them added back to your net pay..... each one is still the same thing
  9. Man, I though I got away from this immature bull when I graduated from high school. Dude, you're gonna do whatever you wanna do, I have no control over it or any care to. I didn't call any single person on this forum any name including noob throughout our entire pm conversation. Post the entire thing up here for everyone to see, go ahead. I've been nothing but civil with you throughout the entire thing and I will continue to be no matter what you say or do.
  10. yes.... net..... AFTER deductions OR before displacments....... gross meaning the full amount........ BEFORE deductions OR after displacments added when talking about an enclosure
  11. Why not put the amp in the trunk since the subs are in/taken place of, the back seat?
  12. I'll be running 3 SA-8's in 2.4cuft net tuned to 34hz, slot port, powered by an SAZ-1500
  13. Yes, and I think I'd happily buy something to spend some time with that pair in the pic on the #1 post. Sexy Sexy Sexy pair. I definitely second the girls gallery idea.
  14. I highly doubt ANY of us are harassing him about the subs. The forums are a great place to joke around and have fun and as far as I can tell that's all anyone has been doing, no one is crying about anything. If any of us were constantly sending him emails about their status then YES that would DEFINTELY be harassing him about them. Like chop said, we're just on here sharing our excitement and anticipation of the arrival with one another. Sundownz came in and said he'd tell us when he knew, and we all KNEW he would without him ever having to say so. We're just having fun kinda like kids waiting for Christmas so if you don't like it, don't read the topic.
  15. You tell 'em brotha chop!
  16. I saw this before. The guy has way too much time and money on his hands. He should give the money to me.
  17. Yes the Q can give some real output, but it's not designed for it. I have a pair of 12" Q's myself, have yet to discover exactly what they can do as I've not been able to finish the enclosure and now the new amp rack, but I didn't buy them to produce big output. I believe the main reason that everyone says that is because a sub that's more spl oriented will (in most cases) give more output per watt than the Q when comparing apples to apples. That's given optimal enclosures, same amp, same vehicle, yadda yadda yadda, you know the drill. It's just always best practice to purchase the equipment for the intended application. I have NO doubt what so ever that 15" Q treats you right and gives solid amounts of output, I'm hoping for similar treatment from my 12's to impress others but it's not the goal of the system.
  18. Thanks, and we know, it's just that the anticipation is killing us. LOL
  19. I wish I could attend SBN. For that matter I'd like to make it to a major show period.
  20. Just have to remember, the wait will be well worth it. lol
  21. Yeah I know, but the anticipation is giving me heartburn, lol.
  22. If you purchase the JL from an authorized local dealer, I don't think CS can get much better than having a live person in front of you who can troubleshoot hands on, give face to face advise while your setup is right there in front of them, or having the ability to slide a new product across the counter to you in the off chance you do get a bunk product rather than waiting on RA tags and shipping time. Jacob is certainly a really great guy who treats his customers as they should be treated.....but that isn't something a local dealer can't provide with the added bonus of being face-to-face and potentially hands-on. I think people discount the value a local dealer offers in terms of service and significantly over values "talking directly to the owner" of an (primarily) internet company. As to the original question: Depends on what line of amplifiers you are looking at from JL. Both are good quality products. Sundown is a more generic product from a buildhouse, hence the lower price. JL is a proprietary design with slightly more features built into the higher line of products. The Slash series (and possibly the HD, I don't know for certain) was designed by Bruce MacMillan who also designed such amplifiers as the praised PPI ProMos and Art series. If you don't find the value in the features JL has to offer over the Sundown, go with the Sundown. If you do, go with JL. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed with either. That's great if you have a shop and dealer you can trust. In my case there isn't a shop or dealer I would trust close enough to make it worthwhile for the extra cost over internet prices. That's the one problem with buying local IMO, not everyone has a trustworthy or capable shop nearby. There's rumors that float around here that the local shop here pays some shady characters to steal the equipment the shop installed then they sell it again. That goes along with many police reports and investigations but nothing that ever sticks. This town sucks. /rant Anyway, I'd buy more stuff locally if there was a trustworthy, capable and well ran shop to go to that wasn't 2+ hours away.
  23. No, they're slower than most government agencies. An update as to whether or not they hit the coast would be good to know if Sundownz even knows for sure.
  24. I wish I had a 10" just to help out. What may I ask is the new assembly method?
  25. Yeah she oughta be real happy with it. She'll have to wait in line for me to get my van (2 12" Q's and Sundown 2000 & 100.4 to be installed) and my Jimmy (3 SA-8's, Sundown 1500 and 125.2 to be installed) done before I can get to her. I know, I can't wait to get my SA-8's and open them!! (HURRY UP US CUSTOMS)
