oh boy, i know the smell. probably your voicecoil(s) starting to burn. (although i could be wrong) but yes ofcourse, subs get warm, but when they start to smell, that's when things are going wrong. you probably just simply overdid it. 45 minutes is a long time to be going full blast with those bass songs. how long have you had your setup? and have you made any changes recently? (on amp or deck)

it's going to be difficult to get hairtricks with that setup, sure, it's a cool goal, but not an important one at all. there's a lot more to be worried about and based on your choices or product, your setup should sound very clean, it's up to you to install it right so it does

Any sub on 2000 watts will get loud, what you need to do is give us goals and any other information so we can help you make a better decision on what will be good for your application. I think they recommend ported for there subs, if you want any information them go to audioque.com and do some research. good choice in amps, for subs, i'd go with 10's, i know space is going to be an issue, but if they could fit, i'd go the sundown sa-10s. or the IA's. the big 3 should be enough, with the volt meter as well to keep an eye on voltage drop. an extra battery MIGHT be needed (i doubt it though) but you can really only tell after the fact, but if your truck is the diesel version then you should have two batteries already which is a good advantage.
